Clam chowder and baked shrimp were excellent. Beautiful waterfront view.
I enjoyed the fish & chips. Coleslaw was great too.

Wonderful place for bite by the water. The calamari has a really sweet sauce on it, but tasted pretty good. Burrata salad was perfect.

Is there a new manager at Moonrakers? They were completely tone def, and horrible. Let me explain...we normally love Moonrakers, it's one of our favorite restaurants in Beaufort, the food, drinks, and service is always great...so we brought my mother in law and brother in law (both new residents of the area) to Moonrakers for a special evening. The waiter serving a large party behind us dropped a tray of water glasses on their table and ours. Glass shattered everywhere, was in my wife's hair, and the back of her blouse and pants were soaking wet. We understand accidents happen, thats not the problem, my issue is with the way the manager handled it...staff resat us, and cleaned up the mess. I informed the mgr of what happed and asked for towels for my wife, the mgr never once came to our table to check on us, or ask if we were OK, or if my wife was hurt. My wife was a good sport about it, but I was furious about the way the mgr handled the situation, especially in front of our family. The food, drinks, and service was good, but the experience was awful. The mgr had an opportunity to ensure we had a great experience, but instead chose to ignore us.
My wife and I enjoyed our sunset dinner on the Moonrakers patio perch, watching the sailboats set sail for their tours. My wood-roasted vegetables and flourless chocolate cake were delicious. My wife's catch of the day was a bit strong on the Mediterranean spices, but very tasty. Our server, Liz, was very attentive and helpful throughout our special evening.

tear it down. The food is horr6
Moonrakers is a great restaurant with fairly good food. However, the top deck is NEVER open and they claim it’s because of “weather or wind” but that’s not the reality. We have tried to go to the top deck five separate times on a Friday or Saturday and it’s never open. Maybe they are short staffed or maybe they aren’t prepared for the volume of people, but it’s disappointing to say the least. If you get the chance to get up there it’s a beautiful view, but it’s beyond deflating to be turned down again and again.

Restaurantji Recommends
IMHO this is the most overrated restaurant in Beaufort. The view from the rooftop bar is great, but that's the best thing about Moonrakers. The kitchen is very small and despite the fact they have a lot of seating, they'll only seat a limited number of patrons because the kitchen cannot keep up. The food is expensive and the quality is mediocre. You'll get a much better dining experience and meal at Beaufort Grocery Co.

Food and service were both stellar. A large wine selection to pick from. One note of feedback only: the hostess’ attitude was off putting and set a bad tone for the beginning of the meal. It seemed disorganized at the front with seating and everyone looked upset. But, the tone of the evening changed once seated.

Rooftop seems to always be closed and that’s the main draw of the place. Won’t let you have only drinks on the back deck (the secondary draw) at 4:00, when there’s one family eating and twenty open tables. The lack of common sense is painful, only outpaced by the rudeness of the hostesses enforcing that rule.

Lovely views. We sat at the bar and service was great. Mixed reviews on the food in our party for the price.
