We sat at the inside bar for our first dining experience at Old Stone... and there was a large event going on outside with live music for all of downtown. Mikey behind the bar was awesome!!! We had an amazing experience and will definitely be coming back. Special mention to Kirsten being an amazing team player as well!
The service was great. As always, you cannot go wrong ordering a steak. Every time I am in the Charlotte area I stop at this restaurant. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
This used to be one of our favorites but lack of waiters and reduced menu with higher prices makes it an ok experience. Nothing like the nice night out it used to be.
The steaks are not cooked at a high enough temperature to sear the outside and not over cook. The only thing we have found that's good is the classic wedge and the potatoes au gratin. Salmon is very fishy tasting the chicken pasta is very bland. We have gone to this restaurant at least a dozen times. Still trying to find a good meal. Just wish someone would take over that understands how to make good food.
Food was good. The skillet rolls were excellent and the steak great. Fries were average and the sauce with the mahi mahi the lemon flavor was a little overwhelming.
I visited Old Stone this evening with a colleague. Upon entry, we were greeted by the host. She was very warm and welcoming. We asked to be seated on the patio. The ambiance was nice, and it was a pretty day, so we settled in nicely. Our waiter was nice enough and provided adequate service. My colleague ordered the shrimp & crab dip with pita points as an appetizer. It was very good. I ordered the Filet mignon (Medium)with Brussel sprouts as the side, my colleague ordered the same. I had a glass of prosecco and we both had a water. Both steaks came out over cooked, nearly well done, but the middle was still tender enough to enjoy. The garlic butter added a nice touch. The Brussel sprouts were what I was actually excited to try as they were cooked with a caramelized bacon jam or something similar. However, the Brussel sprouts were brought out in a small cast iron skillet and they were severely burned. There was no taste of bacon except for a few bits in the mixture. They seemed very promising had they not been burned. I didn't feel it was worth the $180 (140+tip) that we spent. However, we did enjoy our visit and are likely to return to try the side patio bar Cornerstone and maybe grab something off the food truck.

Overall, our experience wasn't great but wasn't terrible. The restaurant itself is very nice for a date night or medium size parties. The drinks were strong (good/bad depending on what you like). Three of the items I wanted were not available on a Saturday at 7pm (prime rib, sweet potato casserole and Parmesan rolls) I expected the prime rib to be out, but the side and rolls were a bit of a surprise to be out...
Wife got the fillet, which looked perfectly cooked, but she said lacked seasoning. My short rib fettuccine, I wouldn't get again even if it was free. It was box pasta, and overall lacked any seasoning or flavor. The short ribs themselves were ok, but still lacking seasoning. I found myself continually adding salt and pepper. The giant chunks of onions were a tad off-putting as well. The sweet potato fries I ended up getting as a side were very good. As a token of apology our waitress gave us a complimentary desert (creme brulee) which was the best thing of the night. Our waitress was great. She was attentive, quick and apologetic with the out of stock items.
Although we had a lackluster experience, I will come back and give them another try in the future and hopefully can change this to a 5 star review!

Mikey was our waiter, he went over and beyond taking care of us! He has a great personality a nice smile, professional, he made us feel welcome.
One of our absolute favorite places To eat! We have never had a bad meal here, love it and our waitress was wonderful tonight as well
Experience was disappointing as we didn't get our food items together as expected. Items were forgotten and one member of our party didn't get half their food till the end of us eating. The steak was very thin and only came with one side and compared to other restaurants just did not seem worth it.

Maybe I caught them on a bad night but I've gotten better steaks from Waffle House. Also potatoes au gratin had crunchy uncooked potatoes.

I want to preface this review by informing you that I rarely do a review, but this is the second time I have gone here and it has been the same thing both times.. the first time wasn’t very busy and the second it appeared to be slammed.
It took 8 minutes to get my drinks(the hostess eventually got them) 12 minutes after I ordered to get the crab cake, 11 more to get my salad, and 32 minutes from that to get my filet. It was ordered med rare. That was the first issue.
Crab cake was pretty good, the wedge salad was drowned in vinaigrette but edible, but the filet was a piece of back cut with a chunk of gristle that was at least 3 inches long. I get it, I was by myself and typically that means I’m not going to tip, but I tip 22-25% minimum, and it is extremely hard for me to tip that low. However the service and food quality was abysmal… my server was great when she was able to come around, but bad planning had her running all over the place. I would not recommend the place, and I won’t go back for a third disappointment.

The food was good, nothing special but good. Our waitress was fantastic so no complaints there. The lunch menu was very small, not really much choice and the whole place just felt blah. Hard to explain that one but it just felt wornout and passed over.
Vegetarian options: They have some vegetarian items but this is a Steakhouse.
Parking: Parking lot is in the back
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu items other than that they probably will get very bored and cause an issue
Wheelchair accessibility: Full wheelchair access

Last week during Queens Feast/Restaurant week we decided to give Old Stone a try. The restaurant itself is in quaint Belmont and the exterior and interior is very nice. When we walked in there wasn’t anyone at the host desk, when the male host arrived he was abrupt and maybe not rude, but was definitely not welcoming and it didn’t set the tone well for the meal.
Our server was ok, but if you are in a service role and work for tips, I think you should be pretty dang outgoing and friendly, he was not. Also, we kept having to ask for refills, when you are dining at a nicer restaurant and your glass is half empty, just refill it and don’t make the customer wait until it is dry and asking for more tea.
We ordered from the Queens Feast menu, which I would think the restaurant would consider their best and tastier food. We did add an order of the dinner bread, it has parm on top and I think they should stop adding the parm. The bread was killer by itself! The parm didn’t really melt well or adhere to the rolls and was just not great/greasy. 86 the parm and it will be better! We had a crab cake and the goat cheese appetizer. The crab cake was flavorful and pretty good, the goat cheese was very lacking. It needed some nuts and a dried fruit with it and honey or something like that. It was just goat cheese and pita basically, very one dimensional and not great. The meal came with salads and we tried a Cesar and wedge, Cesar was good and the wedge was ok, but the dressing on the wedge was like straight buttermilk.
For our main dish I had a filet with baked potato and it was quite good. My wife had the chicken with an Asiago sauce and that was the toughest most overcooked chicken we have probably ever had in a nicer restaurant. That chicken had been cooked way way way too long!
Overall the meal was lacking and this restaurant does not warrant another visit. When your meal is well over $100 you expect a little refinement, good service, and tasty ingredients. They didn’t deliver.
To those about to dine, don’t waste your time. Skip it. You can get a steak at a chain restaurant just as good and probably cheaper. Along with better chicken options and maybe nicer staff!
