I had heard good things about this place. Great food and a nicer restaurant with prices that are reasonable. I had been meaning to try it for those reasons and a bonus -it wouldn't require Charlotte traffic. Well this first experience left some to be desire. We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a good steakhouse meal. Glancing the menu offerings online we thought this would be a solid choice. We had a 8p reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The ambience is average. It looks and feels like typical chain steakhouse, nothing fancy or special. I should have worn jeans and flats, but since it was an occasion for us I dressed up, but that was my fault for not doing a little more research. The dinning areas are available indoor and outdoor but overall very tight feeling and small. There was music but nothing too loud. When choosing a restaurant my husband had requested good ribs, mac and cheese, and a good dessert. Their menu online had all that so I thought it would be perfect. Wrong. First time visiting and when we're giving our order the waitress tells us oh sorry, Mac and cheese isn't available, we ran out at like 4:30 today! Supposedly the first time that's happened since she's worked there for years. Next let down was the odor. Honestly at first I thought maybe it was a group that had arrived and sat down after us might have slacked on the hygiene before coming to dinner thinking no one would notice (shame on me). Turns out it was the restaurant itself because we asked to move tables and we still smelled the odor. Maybe it's the rags used to bust the tables but it was not pleasant when trying to enjoy food. The actual food was just ok with the exception of the crab cakes I ordered which didn't have a bunch of filling so they were good. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone, but again tasted like typical ribs at a chain. No desire to return but our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Drinks, salads, extra side - $110+tip
Jailhouse chicken was great. Steak was good, but, a little tough. Brussel sprouts, which are usually one of my favorites, were kind of salty. Our server, Savannah, was great!
Easy to get to. The staff was helpful and friendly. The appetizer s were excellent. Get the bread. The wedge salad was awesome. I had the prime rib. It was excellent. The prices were fair and very reasonable. I would definitely go back. If you have to make a choice between here and some other places. Go here. You will be glad you did.
We have not eaten here in a while but like to support our local restaurants whenever possible. Could not believe how far down hill this place has gone. First of las there was no bread. Every other steak house brings bread. Second the su gratin potatoes which were a $7.00 add on were terrible. The had no cheese & were just some potatoes with bed crumbs on top. That is not the definition of au gratin. The steak was ok but not particularly tasty. There was a very noisy group there when we arrived. By the time we left there was no one there. I can understand why! There are many better choices for a steak house that this restaurant.
The food was great, no complaints on that score. The wait staff were very good. The plates did not all arrive at the same time, we had to wait for a while for one main course. They did apologize. We dined outside, the table was not spotless when we sat, not terrible though. Wine was good. We had a lovely time.
The salads were good and fresh. I had the crabcakes. The meat was overworked to the point where there were no lumps. I didn't like the flavor. They should stick to a traditional recipe. For the price I expected much better quality. I took a few bites and never finished them. My sister ordered her steak medium well. It was served well done. They re-made her order. My mother had the chopped steak. She didn't finish hers. Didn't like the taste. Nice atmosphere. The food is overpriced for the quality.
Weekday dinner with friends and we found a comfortable booth where we could hear each other. Service was very good and warm bread with cheese was delightful while we waited for dinner. Steaks were cooked right with excellent flavor. Salmon salad was also delicious.
As an out of state visitor, I was happy to locate the Old Stone Steakhouse for dinner which was wonderful in every way. Reservations are recommended because it's a popular restaurant, but my husband and I were able to walk in and secured a table within 10 minutes. We sat on the outside patio on a comfortable warm night and received excellent service from our waitress. Their menu is very interesting and we both chose the steak tips over grits, which was delicious! It was so good, we chose it again on our second trip to Belmont 2 weeks later. The ambiance reflects elegance but it's casual and comfortable inside. I highly recommend that you give it a try. We are already looking forward to our next meal.
We are new to the area and have been here a handful of times now - always great food and service. Super reasonable prices!
The only recommendation would be to improve the speed of food preparation. The kitchen took too long for our dishes. Everything else was fabulous and the service impeccable. The decor and hospitality also outstanding.

Haven't been to the restaurant in a while decided to give it a try: noise level outside was moderate. The salads were good. Our companion got a loaded baked potato, but they forgot to give it to him. It came out later. Our potato was not as we had asked. The steak was Good to above average. Our waitress rarely came back to ask how things were had to be asked to make our order is correct and just was not that engaging. Had to apologize for coming back late after giving us water. Not the best of experiences I rarely give less than 20% tip and I gave less today. I don't know if we'll come back. It's a shame because it's in a nice area in Belmont and at least the steaks were better than what I remember years ago, but they need to bump it up a bit. Attention to the details important if you want to get good ratings and have people recharge to frequently your restaurant. I have a relative who's been in culinary for 20 years so I understand about issues with restaurants. I tend not to be too critical, but this experience deserved this rating. A Restaurant has to do better to have people frequent/ return for the overall experience.
This experience was underwhelming. My steak which was a filet seemed cooked properly when I first cut into it but there parts undercooked and fatty. Even the baked potato was not good. It was dry and the cheese was gluey. I actually saw it sitting in the window for like 20 minutes as they were waiting on steak prep. For the amount of the check, I think this was my last time at Old Stone.
Great food, great service, great experience! One of our favorite places to fine!! We will be back!
Very nice restaurant, with excellent food and great service. Nice variety in the menu and the steaks are fantastic.
Kristen, our waitress, did an excellent job of answering our questions about the menu and provided great service during our meal. Our food was good, and it was a pleasant evening. The music was very loud at first but Kristen turned it down when we asked about it.
