Black Mountain Doughnut Factory

Wished I'd known they were going to be closed for a couple of days. Showed up this morning expecting Doughnuts but had to do without. Don't know the whole story and it might have been unavoidable but wish they'd been something on their site about being closed.

The donuts I've received here are the best I've had since moving to NC. The regular glazed and the strawberry hibiscus are top notch. Tim is a great guy and loves what he does!

Went for the first time this morning around 8am. They were not busy and I was in and out within a few minutes. I got the glazed doughnut, it was pretty good. It had a lemony hint to it and the dough was thicker than most places. Over all it was very good.

Fantastic doughnuts! After several attempts, I made it before they sold out and closed. Have just enjoyed a glazed doughnut with my husband. For later we have one filled with lemon curd and a “Boston cream” (custard filling with chocolate glaze).

I got to sample 4 of these doughnuts this morning. Heaven! These are perhaps the best doughnuts I've ever eaten! Can't wait until the end of the month when I'm in western NC, and I can visit for myself!

These folks know how to make a great doughnut! It's a small, spotless shopIn a strip mall, just a little ways up from the main drag in Black Mountain. Don't let that stop you! Make the drive, and treat yourself to their fresh baked, made from scratch, doughnuts! The two people in the shop are very friendly, and cheerful, but you should get there early if you want these tasty treats...they sometimes sell out by 10:30-11:00am! Fresh, fresh, fresh! If you're a doughnut person, you gotta get there! Yum!

I am a donut connoisseur and these donuts are excellent. The orange blossom twist and strawberry hibiscus were spot on. I can’t wait to taste the bacon maple. We will be back

Was up early and had some projects to do but saw the donut shop was open and decided to drop in. Was absolutely happy with this decision after the first bite. I went with half a dozen so I could later share and each flavor was delicious. Highly recommend the Smoked Maple and Strawberry Hibiscus as those were also the group favorites. Bravo!!!!

We can’t recommend these light, airy delicious doughnuts enough! Wow! Super nice owner, too, who waited for me to come pick up my called in order even though he was sold out and done for the day.

The owners and staff here are fantastic! They always make you feel welcome. And the doughnuts are the best I've had in the Asheville area. The smoked maple one is my personal favorite. So addictive.

When you walk to a donut shot and arrive at 9:30 am on a Sunday morning you would expect they actually have donuts to sell. Who runs out of donuts an hour and a half after opening on Sunday? Arguably the busiest donut day of the week. Long walk, big disappointment.

Donut (haha get it...do not) know how Facebook or Instagram triangulated this recommendation...maybe it's the Warren Wilson connection...but glad I found it on my journeys today! Glad they were sold out...sample everything that was left and 3 donuts in, I am not disappointed. Friendly service, bigger than anything you are going to get from a Dunkin or Duck. Apparently the greater Asheville area is the epicenter of competitive donut supremacy here in the United States. Still not a Yum-Yums (if you are from the Philly burbs you know what I'm talking about), but this was a great find and definitely a place I've recommended after only one visit! So far...strawberry hibiscus...OMG I'm kicking myself for not getting two!
