Overall our experience here was pretty good. In the beginning, our server took about 20 minutes to greet us; there was another server who said it was her first day and she was training that came by to get our drink order, but it took a very long time to get our actual food order in.The food was delicious, my husband and I both got Cesar salads and the deviled eggs to start. For dinner we got the shrimp and grits and the souther fried chicken, both were wonderful. For dessert we split the chocolate ice cream, and our server comped for us after asking if we were celebrating anything and we mentioned it was our first wedding anniversary. It was a nice way to end our evening.

Met friends for drinks and wound up having dinner as well. Wonderful wait staff, great food, and got a table in front of the fireplace!

My family and I have enjoyed dining at Milton’s several times over the past couple of years. The Ploughman’s Board (a charcuterie cheese board) is our absolute favorite item on the menu and we look forward to it every time. Unfortunately many of the best items have been removed from the board and the price made a significant jump from $20 to $25 dollars. A five dollar price increase on an appetizer item is a very large price increase, and $25 is a lot of money for an appetizer (even at an upscale restaurant). It is a very large appetizer, but $25 —- eeek. The deviled egg spread, pickled okra, whole grain mustard and toasted bread items have been removed from the board. These were some of the best parts of the board, please bring them back. Overall still good, but would be much better and the big price increase wouldn’t sting as much if some of the best parts were not removed. Also disappointed to see the cornbread and jalapeño jam that used to come with dinner is no longer as well. Please bring this item back as well.

We ate dinner last night Christmas Eve and we're so disappointed. The food was horrific. We were so excited about our trip for Christmas Eve and we're so disappointed. The menu was a set menu that offered a slab of pork belly or a piece of chicken that was a dark piece leg. The soup was filled 1 in in the bowl and was ice cold. I just don't understand who would pick that kind of food for Christmas Eve it was just horrible. They didn't charge me for mine but they should have taken my husband's off he could barely eat his.

We ate supper on 12/23/23. The place is under new management, and, honestly, I'm embarrassed to say how tasteless and sad the food was: my date's steak was gristle and tough; my trout was totally bland, served on top of plain small potatoes in their skin, on a bed of pureed asparagus- pureed like baby food. I do not waste food, but I brought most of this home to the dog. The matzo soup was very good.I've eaten at the Monte Vista for over 30 years, had a wedding reception there, and a huge surprise birthday party. I had take-out during Covid. All of these were delicious, even scrumptious! Rosalee Phillips- we need you back at the Monte Vista! And please bring your beautiful lobby decor too!

Great food - sides large enough for three people. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Great place for special occasions.

Food was creative & well prepared. The pot roast left alot to be desired, nothing like a mom makes. Everything else was perfection. The room was loud, although it wasn't full. Needs noise panels on ceiling or something to take away the echo & add ambiance.

Milton's was just a delight. We began our evening with a cocktail by the patio fire. My old fashion was delicious and a bit different. The ambiance on the patio was relaxing, particularly after a long day of travel. Our dinner was served in the garden room/sunroom, and again the ambiance was charming. Chelsea was our server, and she carried out her tasks with competence and personality. Two of us shared a fresh greens salad; I sure wish I had one right now. It was sheer joy in a bowl. The greens were fresh; the other ingredients enhanced but didn't overpower; and the dressing was subtle and nuanced. One of us had the fried chicken-scrumptious!-and the other had the trout which was also delicious. All in all Milton's was a wonderful experience.

We stumbled upon Milton's Cuisine while in Black Mountain on a Friday night without a reservation at any local restraints. After checking some restaurants along the State St - and learning they all had long waits - we came across Milton's on Yelp and gave them a call and found out we could be seated immediately. The restaurant is located the the Monte Vista Hotel and had a great ambiance; simple but classy with table group throughout the first floor of the hotel. The menu was very limited but we tried the fried chicken, nightly special (monkfish with squash purée and farro) and seasonal soup (butternut squash with curry and coconut). Everything was delicious! The soup was outstanding, the fried chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the monkfish was a fantastic blend of flavors. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Black Mountain.

Cocktails are always spot on, great selection of appetizers and main dishes, especially the beef tenderloin, always seasoned and cooked to perfection. Been going there for years and have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend.

Upon entering the building, there was a very strong fish smell. It was hard to handle. Had to wait 15 minutes for the reservation. The live music was too loud and they didn't turn off the speaker music, so we were listening to two different types of music. Food was good but overpriced. Waitress was good until she told us we stiffed her. Not tipping her was an oversight/misunderstanding of the gift card transaction. We would have been mortified with the oversight if she handled it in a more professional way. We were going to stay for drinks by the fire until she approached us and told us we stiffed her. If she had said "Were you unhappy with your service? I noticed there wasn't a tip and I just want to make sure everything was ok?", we would have left her a great tip. It really rubbed us wrong, so we left and only gave her a small tip. Also, when the reservation was made, we were asked if there was a special occasion and I put down that it was our anniversary. Not at any time during the evening did anyone mention anything about our anniversary. What is the point of asking that question if you aren't going to do anything about it?? I noticed that the table beside us had a slice of cake with a candled delivered to them, so I assumed we would have had the same treatment. Overall, it was a disappointing anniversary dinner experience.

Good choices on menu. First wine poor 2nd glass good no charge for #2. Waitress new but pleasant. Failed hold 2nd course until desired. Entree expensive. Soup, salad and colt cut board good prices.

Everything about our dinner at Milton's was great. All of the food was delicious. We ate outside and lucked out with the weather. Out server, Jennifer, was one of the best we have ever had. Highly recommended!

Waitress knew nothing about the menu. Seemed a bit scatterbrained. Maybe new? Food was above average but not worth the price. Atmosphere outside was ok, not great. Uncomfortable seats. Would find another place in town at this price point.
