This is an absolute must try while in Black Mountain. Period.
Fantastic, eclectic, and perfectly executed. This restaurant features a smaller, more intimate menu of tapas type dishes. Each of them is a masterpiece. Save room for dessert. It is imperative to try the desserts.

Went while visiting black mountain! Good atmosphere, good service, and VERY good food. We got the pork chop and trout dinners to share. Highly recommend !!

I visited here in a group of 8 after we finished hiking nearby. We sat outside. We ordered around 2:25pm. I got the steak and eggs and my son got the French toast. I also ordered the lavender lemon drop. Everything was amazing with no complaints.
Someone ordered Brussels sprouts as an app which came at 2:40pm. It was tasty. We all enjoyed the meal and the drinks. Staff were hospitable and we had an enjoyable experience. We came closer to closing time and they had extra biscuits, which they gave us for free. They were SO GOOD and huge!!
We were able to split the bill equally and even pay online, which was so convenient! I’m sure we would return again next time we’re in the area!

Came for Sunday Brunch and was NOT disappointed. Actually pleasantly surprised. As you enter, its warm and inviting. The staff was super friendly and walked us to our table downstairs. Large, wide staircase to a small basement with just a few tables made it intimate and quiet. There is outdoor seating as well both upstairs and downstairs. The coffee was hot and tasted great not bitter. The waitress was super nice and asked us the question we haven't been asked- are there any food allergies I need to know about- that was a small thing but meaningful and stayed with us. The biscuit and gravy was phenomenal! I always ask for salt and pepper but 100% did NOT need it. The biscuit was huge and perfectly fluffy not heavy or greasy. Eggs over easy were perfect too. The steak and eggs were almost too pretty to eat but I assure you, I may just have to come back to get this dish again. Steak perfectly cooked and so full of flavor- awesome dish!! The crab cakes though, they were NOT full of fillers like bread crumbs or eggs. They were full of crab meat and flavor- not fishy either. Just amazing. The peaches eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was the perfect topping . We ate slow because we didn't want the brunch to end. They even finish keeping with the car theme and served the bill in an old warranty booklet. Please go and keep them in business as I will tell ALL of my friends! Coming back for dinner, soon!

From the moment we spoke to the hostess this was a five star experience. The staff is wonderful, being able to order a drink while you wait is a game changer. Food was impeccable, the first time I’ve walked away still talking about each dish in a long time. Bread service is a must have. Steak tartar was the best I’ve ever had. We ordered the pork chop and duck leg for our mains and wow, every bite was perfect. Highly highly recommend from top to bottom. Thank you to the staff, management, and owners!

With no reservations on a Thursday night, my mom and I were seated at the chef's table. What a fun experience! Chefs were friendly and answered the few questions we asked. We split a delicious potato soup & bread service to start. We both ordered the rainbow trout entree, and got to watch it being prepared. Cocktails were delicious too. Service was attentive and kind. Would be more inclined to return with friends if there was a bigger selection of vegetarian options.

One of the best overall dining experiences I've had in a long time. From the time my party requested a table until the time we walked out, everything was as well executed as one could want. The focaccia was amazing. I could have ate that all night long. The Brussels plate were very yummy. And the flat iron steak entree with fingerling potatoes was perfectly executed. The technique, taste, and presentation were all on point. My only disappointment is that I waited so long to visit, and I'm moving 5 his away next week. It will definitely be on the shirt list of places to visit when I'm back in the Black Mountain area!

Wow, all I can say is this place is a real gem and worth all the hype that it has been receiving. First off, the décor is amazing, they did an amazing job of restoring this old mechanic garage. It looks like something Chip and Joanna Gaines would remodel. The wine and beer selection is top notch, and the appetizers and entrees were all very delicious, we especially liked the crispy chicken. Our server Abby, was super friendly and attentive, she also gave use excellent suggestions on what to order. Finally, dessert was perfect, we ordered the flour-less chocolate torte, and it was superb. Again, I highly recommend checking this place out!

I had the chance to try both the lunch and dinner menus at Pure & Proper in Black Mountain, and it was an unforgettable experience!
For lunch, we ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Duck Confit Sandwich and both were absolutely perfect.
The dinner completely exceeded our expectations. We also started with the Steak Tartare, and it was simply the best I’ve ever had in my life! I had the Flat Iron, and it was flawless. My husband ordered the Duck Leg Confit.
The desserts were delicious, and the atmosphere is both beautiful and cozy. I highly recommend making a reservation if you want to guarantee a table.
Every time I’m in Black Mountain, I’ll be back.

As a vegetarian it becomes challenging to get fresh innovative flavors that wasn't the case here. Our meal consisted of the bread service, burrata, gnudi, and an arugula salad. Every bite was bursting with flavor!
