Very disappointed by our most recent visit. From the very beginning, our drink order was not corrected (my martini didn't take right) and the bartender was a bit defensive about it saying it was correct. Our waitress Beth was fabulous but sadly the food was downright poor. We had a $24 single scallop appetizer and the scallop was chewy and cold. Then we had escargot which was also cold and not appetizing. Then we splurged on a $120 16- ounce ribeye that also came out cold. The meat was flavorful, but it was so cool that the rockhard butter on top wasn't melting one bit. When we mentioned it to our waitress, she quickly Apologized and said she would make it right, but instead of providing a new delicious steak, they returned the same steak. This time it was overcooked. The side dish of white beans and broccolini served with the steak was actually inedible at this point. So disappointing because we've had several friends stating how much they enjoy Gideon Ridge. Maybe just a bad night. We very very rarely complain at a restaurant. When the check arrived, they had comped the appetizers but not the steak so we were left with an over $200 bill for a very poor dinner. We won't return.

Our server Abby was excellent. Great ambience, views and comfortable. Food very good although could have come out hotter. My appetizer was just warm. But overall we'd go back.

Eating here is a delightful experience; from the best view, to attentive staff, to the delicious food. I seem to always order the duck, which is seasoned and cooked to perfection. My husband had the short rib which I tasted, was also. Dessert, we had the pumpkin cheesecake, it was so light and scrumptious.

Spectacular food and wine. Not "foofy." Just solid gourmet in no uncertain terms. The restaurant itself is beautiful in the 1930s hunting lodge style (authentic, that's how old it really is) with updates where needed to add to an incredible location with views to both the south and the east that stretch to the distant horizon. Be sure to get there early to enjoy a cocktail and the views themselves. As you would expect for a restaurant of this quality, it's not cheap and not a place to take the kids. Only downside, it books up long in advance and "no reservation, no service" (unless you want to be a walkin during happy hour 4:00 to 5:00). It's worth putting in the effort to nail a reservation, but do so as long as possible in advance if you want to have any chance of getting in. We didn't start trying to book our table until two weeks in advance and so we had to accept a 7:45 seating time or nothing and were lucky to get that.

First time, it was very difficult to schedule a time at sunset. After multiple trie, I finally was able to book. It is a very scenic view and the food was delicious. I will be back.

It was our first dining experience at Gideon Ridge. Every thing was quite elegant. Upon our entrance we enjoyed the restaurants inviting ambiance. A beautiful mountain retreat with wonderful history nestled in the mountain side. Unfortunately, our reservation was after 8:00pm so we did not get to enjoy any outside views. The short drive to Gideon Ridge using (GPS) failed us a couple times which made it difficult in the pitch dark. The mountain road was narrow was a bit challenging with only vehicle headlights. But once we arrived, it was a relief to leave the car with their valet to park. Once inside it was everything we had hoped for. We were pleasantly greeted for our reservation. We were a bit early so enjoyed a cocktail from the bar and sat in front of the lodges huge stone fireplace. We had the pleasure of having Charlie as our server. She was lovely and attentive. We started with the mushroom mousse and escargot. Both were outstanding! My husband enjoyed the short rib and I the sea bass. Desserts were excellent. My husband enjoyed a berry cake and I loved the crème brûlée! Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and the chefs delicious creations. It was definitely worth the wait.. as our reservation was made far in advance and as I said, it was the last reservation of the evening. We will definitely return to Blowing Rock in the New Year and for sure make reservations again at Gideon Ridge. DB from SC

We first learned of the Inn when staying in Blowing Rock for a horse show. My wife made reservations for dinner, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought the place so beautiful, we had to come stay for a weekend, and we’re so glad we did. We stayed in the Cedars Cottage, which is just gorgeous. The bed is huge and very comfortable, the shower is spacious & hot, the fireplace is lovely and puts out wonderful heat, the little patio is secluded and quiet.
We highly recommend the Inn, and I imagine that we will make a stay here an annual event.

Fabulous all around! ... plan on $150 pp to enjoy pre-cocktails, shared appetizer, 2 additional courses and dessert.

So good all around. We got patè and a mushroom brie for apps, then the wagyu strip and duck for entrees. Everything was at least a 9/10. Caught a great sunset as well, and it's expensive but you do not feel like you paid too much. So good.

My wife and I spent our anniversary there last weekend. And, as always, it was an amazing experience. The rain actually stopped during our meal and exposed a wonderful sunset. The food and service were incredible. And we even received some "bubbly" to celebrate our special occasion. This is our favorite restaurant in the high country.

We live locally and have dined at GR a few times Our meal was excellent, probably our best experience yet. Jeremiah, our server saw to all of our needs with expertise. The cocktails were also flawless! Highly recommend dining at Gideon Ridge!

Among the best meals my wife and I have ever experienced. The meal was exquisite, the staff was beyond gracious and welcoming, and the atmosphere was breathtaking!
