We had a reservation at 6:30. We arrived at 6:00. Sat in the lobby for a while then the maitre d said we could be seated early. The restaurant was only 50% occupancy but we were seated in a conference room table. In a room by ourselves. We were appropriately dressed. On top of that my steak was seriously overcooked. When we complained, they said that every table had a 1.5 hr hold. What about our original table. We will never go back

I read some of the reviews that rated Timberlake as pretty darn bad. I should have taken these to heart. We had eaten here several times in the past and had good service, good meals and we liked the ambiance. It was my husband's birthday so we went there to celebrate. What a mistake! It was so bad. Bad food, bad services, and very overpriced. I had the chicken fricassee and it was so tough I couldn't even cut it with a steak knife, let alone chew it. When the waitress asked how it was I told her I couldn't even cut it because it was so tough and her response was "Well, how does it taste?" Duh! I had just said it was so tough I couldn't cut it! She walked away and didn't offer to do anything about the horrible chicken. We didn't see her again until my husband was finishing his meal, she came back and asked how the meal was. I told her again that mine was not edible. Her response was that she could get me another one. Why would I want another one when I couldn't eat the first one, especially when my husband was done eating? I responded that I didn't want another one and that my husband was done eating and we would be leaving. She did not offer to take the meal off our bill or any compensation.. I didn't even ask because I just wanted to get out of there, it was so disappointing, and I was sure she would argue. We just paid and left and will definitely not go back. It really is too bad because it could be a great place with the lovely grounds and resort but I think it is counting on that to bring people in and doesn't seem to care about quality. Every bad review, and there are a lot of them, is met with the same "sorry we didn't meet your expectations" (has to be just cut and pasted because it is the same line) but the bad reviews just keep coming.

Oh boy, where to begin. The food was bad. Really bad. It tasted like it was made days ago and reheated - over cooked, over sauced, thrown on a plate. The broccolini was inedible, meat was so sauced, I didn't know where it was, lost in the slather. Sandwiches were so greasy, family had to scrape off the buttered (?) bread. For such a lovely space, with nice servers, they either have no current chef or someone trained at a diner. Not fine dining or good in any way as far as food goes. Not a special night dining experience at all.

We've been to Chetola dozens of times and have eaten at Timberlake's restaurant many times before this. In the view of everyone in our party, the level of service has declined and the food was "average" at best. While we waited for our table, we decided to enjoy a drink in the lounge. When we ordered, the bartender told us that they were out of Sauvignon Blanc. When one in our party asked for a Riesling wine, she was told "we're out of that also". She then asked if they had Pinot Grigio and the bartender told her they had one glass left. October is one of the busiest months of the year in Blowing Rock. Why does a "quality" resort run out of three different types of popular wine during the busy season ? We found the food to be average at best. The Reuben sandwich was no better than what one might find at a fast food restaurant and the Chicken Fricase was somewhat bland. The other two people in our party said it was "OK" but nothing special. The service was good but the food offerings would definitely not bring us back to Timberlake's ever again.

We usually eat dinner here when in Boone. This is our first trip this year. This is a beautiful restaurant and we always have great expectations. Wife had the strip steak $46, very average, nothing special. I had the Quail $45, just plain bad, had a very strange taste. You are given 2 cornbread rolls for the table, if you want an extra 2, it's a $3 bread charge. My ice tea was never refilled. We looked at the dessert menu, $16 for a piece of chocolate cake. Based on our meal we decided not to risk it on the cake. There are much better options for dining in the area.

Went for brunch day after ASU home football game so several staff called out. Seated us 30 mins after reservation time. Several orders came out wrong. We

Disappointed is being generous. Execution of our meal - croque madame, brunch burger, side of pancakes - was poor. Croque was missing the ‘madame’ (the egg) and had obviously sat long enough under the heat lamps for the cheese to solidify, inside and out. The sad, frozen food hash browns were barely heated through, as they were limp, rather than crispy. Two of the three pancakes were so undercooked, the batter oozed from them, The server who took our order was “fine”, but when I brought attention to the fact that the croque hadnt been prepared as described, she just said, “I’ll go ask the kitchen”, disappeared and never came back; nor did she take my plate away for the kitchen to fix. Several minutes later, a runner showed up and placed a plate with an egg on it on the table, again with no explanation much less an apology. The same runner initially attempted to deliver another table’s order, and seemed nonplussed when we told him it wasnt our food. Not once were our water glasses refilled (or offered such). We were one of three parties seated in the “dining room” off the patio, so the place was hardly what one would call busy. I will not bother to make a reservation to eat here again. We have experienced better quality service and food at establishments with lesser repute.

The WORST dining experience that Ive ever had after years of dining here and at other nearby restaurants. But first, the positive: My wife’s scallop dinner was tender, hot & delicious. So, someone in the kitchen knows what they’re doing. We started with cocktails and I ordered a Guiness beer, which arrived in an unopened can & without a glass to pour it into. The server just set it down and started to leave when i asked for a cold glass and explained that due to the nitrogen capsule in the can it should be poured into a glass, as stated in large letters on the can. So my adventure began. After waiting for about 5 minutes and seeing our server bring cocktails to other tables, i went to the bar for a glass, where i was told that they’ve been very busy and then was handed a warm glass. So why didn’t my server bring it? Next, my burger which was ordered rare was delivered medium to well as indicated on the marker in it. And lets not forget that awful grey coloe that well done burgers get. So, thinking they were busy, id just drown it in ketchup and asked our server for ketchup, not realizing my burger must have been sitting around for awhile as it was also luke warm at best. After almost 30 minutes, I was still sitting there with a cold burger waiting for ketchup and the rest of our party had finishing their meals when the server finally came back and asked if we wanted dessert or the check but no ketchup yet. So i mentioned nicely that my burger that was served lukewarm was now cold and i didn’t want it.i was kffered a box and had to srgue to get it taken off our bill as it was inedible. My fried was served a bowl of soup with out a spoon. It was evident that they were short staffed which seems to be the norm these days. But the real problem was that the staff were poorly trained and had no supervision. There wasn’t anyone to ask for help or complain to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The setting is enchanting. We found the service to be excellent and the food excellent. The fish and pork chops were great. Craft cocktails not to be missed. So glad we brought our out of town guests here. Momorable.

Ask for Kali. She is the sweetest kindest person and she is so attentive! The food and atmosphere are always top notch! 10 years of patio dining and we are hoping for another 30’

Went for Sunday Brunch today with a couple who live in Chetola. The venue is unique and the staff very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable...that gave them the 2 star rating! The food was disappointing! I had scrambled eggs with fried potatoes and biscuits and sausage gravy. The potatoes were delicious, the scramble edible but the biscuits were like 2 tasteless bricks and the sausage gravy was terrible. We've had a better breakfast at Mickey D's for 1/4 the cost!! Go elsewhere

My daughter brought me here for lunch. So yummy, got the charcuterie board and the fried green tomato blt. Save room for dessert! The Apple Blossom is a MUST HAVE! Only thing I would change is order 2 apple blossoms so you don’t have to share. I will be back!

Anniversary trip. Very greasy meal. Almost no one there. Rookie waitress. We ordered bone marrow as a special treat, we had had once in Montreal. It was a large serving but tasteless & greasy. Spinach salad was good but oysters were greasy. The Rueben sandwich was the greasiest of all. It was soaked in grease. It has upset our digestion for this 4 day trip. It was our first meal at Timberlake Where we are staying.

Okay, I should have listened to the other reviews, but the place looked so pretty that I thought it couldn't possibly be that bad. We were in town celebrating my son's graduation from Appalachian State. Long story short, the service was terrible, the food was gross and it's WAY overpriced!!! I highly recommend that you go anywhere else!!! On a lighter note, we got some great pictures on the grounds by the lake.

We had drinks and appetizers at the bar one night and it was excellent. Appetizers were delicious and drinks were good. The next night we ate in the dining room and the food was good, but not outstanding, and the service was very good. The restaurant and the resort are short staffed as are many places, but the service is still excellent.
