Always an outstanding dining experience at Gideon Ridge restaurant. It is so very difficult to get a reservation here, so having it possible on our anniversary was a bonus. The ambience, view, service and as always food were outstanding.

Another. Excellent evening. Server was engaging which we enjoyed. He encouraged me to try duck after many years and that rec was right! Always enjoy the fire the library before and. After dinner

Wonderful dining experience! Madi and Parker were excellent hosts. We loved the new Tuna appetizer! Our Sea Bass was beautifully prepared and presented. Our 4th visit and looking forward to our next. Seeing sunset from the lounge was also very special. Thank you!

The food was indescribably good, the service was amazing. The only disappointment was that it was too dark to see the views, but that didn't take anything away from our experience. Definitely hope to return.

Restaurant G never disappoints! I had the duck, and my friend had the short rib...both superb.

A wonderful place to celebrate special events. Service was excellent. Food was exquisite. From beginning to end each part of the dinner was intentionally and thoughtfully prepared and served.

Delicious meal with an amazing sunset. Server was very attentive and food was cooked to perfection. Best in Blowing Rock. GR is pricey, but it was my birthday. Great restaurant for special occasions.

Reserved for a belated celebration of our 18th anniversary. We arrived early to sit and watch the sun set over the autumnal landscape- me with a Scotch and opened a bottle of Trefethen Cab for my wife in anticipation of our meal. When our table was ready we moved to the dining room, still against the window taking in the world class views. We opened with the mushroom mousse, then the cauliflower bisque and my wife had the tenderloin and I the seabass. Creme Brulee for dessert. With dinner complete, we took our unfinished bottle into the fireplace room to relax until we left. The whole experience was magnificent and the service excellent. We hope to return and stay for an extended time.

The food, service and ambiance were all exceptional. It's a well crafted and thoughtful menu and we enjoyed every bite. Can't wait to be back in the area so we can visit again

Very disappointed by our most recent visit. From the very beginning, our drink order was not corrected (my martini didn't take right) and the bartender was a bit defensive about it saying it was correct. Our waitress Beth was fabulous but sadly the food was downright poor. We had a $24 single scallop appetizer and the scallop was chewy and cold. Then we had escargot which was also cold and not appetizing. Then we splurged on a $120 16- ounce ribeye that also came out cold. The meat was flavorful, but it was so cool that the rockhard butter on top wasn't melting one bit. When we mentioned it to our waitress, she quickly Apologized and said she would make it right, but instead of providing a new delicious steak, they returned the same steak. This time it was overcooked. The side dish of white beans and broccolini served with the steak was actually inedible at this point. So disappointing because we've had several friends stating how much they enjoy Gideon Ridge. Maybe just a bad night. We very very rarely complain at a restaurant. When the check arrived, they had comped the appetizers but not the steak so we were left with an over $200 bill for a very poor dinner. We won't return.

Our server Abby was excellent. Great ambience, views and comfortable. Food very good although could have come out hotter. My appetizer was just warm. But overall we'd go back.

Eating here is a delightful experience; from the best view, to attentive staff, to the delicious food. I seem to always order the duck, which is seasoned and cooked to perfection. My husband had the short rib which I tasted, was also. Dessert, we had the pumpkin cheesecake, it was so light and scrumptious.

Spectacular food and wine. Not "foofy." Just solid gourmet in no uncertain terms. The restaurant itself is beautiful in the 1930s hunting lodge style (authentic, that's how old it really is) with updates where needed to add to an incredible location with views to both the south and the east that stretch to the distant horizon. Be sure to get there early to enjoy a cocktail and the views themselves. As you would expect for a restaurant of this quality, it's not cheap and not a place to take the kids. Only downside, it books up long in advance and "no reservation, no service" (unless you want to be a walkin during happy hour 4:00 to 5:00). It's worth putting in the effort to nail a reservation, but do so as long as possible in advance if you want to have any chance of getting in. We didn't start trying to book our table until two weeks in advance and so we had to accept a 7:45 seating time or nothing and were lucky to get that.

First time, it was very difficult to schedule a time at sunset. After multiple trie, I finally was able to book. It is a very scenic view and the food was delicious. I will be back.

We live in Florida and eat a lot of fresh fish. Sea Bass special was one of the best meals I can remember. (In my entire life!) Really. As always, the servers are attentive and very informative. Just a great place.
