We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server was friendly, polite and answered all questions. We ordered the pork belly bites and they were really just small chunks of pork cooked in a sauce. I've had real pork belly and these did not hit the mark. The wine selection was fine. I do not like trout, so I and another of our party ordered the catfish. The cornmeal crust was not crisp, in fact it was not really cooked in some areas of the fish. The catfish itself was just ok, a little mushy. The collards were spicy hot and very vinegary. Maybe some folks like that... The hoppin john was mostly dirty rice with a few black eyed peas. I thought my meal was sub par, as did my friend who got the catfish. Both of our husbands got trout and they like their meals quite well. Speckled Trout is one of the more reasonably priced restaurants in the pricey town of Blowing Rock, but next time I'm going to look elsewhere.

Great customer service by the hostess & waiter. Our favorite restaurant when we visit Blowing Rock every year.

As always, the food was incredible. The only issue is if you are seated inside you can forget about having a conversation with your party during dinner. Noise is deafening. Go for the food but not fellowship

Try the pork chop. It was spectacular! Bottle shop in the back stocking some good wines as well.

The Speckled Trout is one of our favorite places to dine. The cocktails are crafted perfectly and the food is amazing. It has a great ambiance and mountain vibe. Make your reservation now!

Lots of appetizers that were delicious. Especially the hikers platter. Had the field man's plate which was really fatty. Otherwise, fantastic dining. We eat there often.

Speckled Trout is our favorite restaurant in Blowing Rock. Whether we are having drinks and apps or dinner everything is always fabulous. The service is fast and the employees are friendly! Definitely make a reservation though or you'll be waiting awhile!

Well I chose Speckled Trout for my 50th birthday lunch because we have been there several times and always had a good experience. This was not one of those times. We arrived just after our reservation time and was seated by 1134. We did not see our waiter for 25 minutes. At 1159 he decide to bring us water and get our drink and app order. We got the hikers plate. Major disappointment for a charcuterie plate. There were 5 pieces of meat 3 pieces of cheese and mostly picked veggies. Not worth the money. I got the hunter sandwich as my meal and again was extremely disappointed. The meatball must have been steamed as they had no texture of flavor. I didn't even finish it. So after all this we were sitting enjoying our drinks and desert when the manager came over and informed us we had 10 minutes to finish as they had another reservation for our table. When I informed him of our extended wait for service all he could say was well I can cover your old fashion. I declined. We paid our extremely over priced bill and left. We will never go back. If you are going to run people from tables then at least have your staff be on top of their tables. Our waiter was pleasant but the service was sporadic at best. We had to ask for drinks several times before getting them. Done with this place.

The hostess, waitstaff, bartenders and bus staff were amazing on Friday, November 29th around 8pm. Despite being extremely busy, they made it possible for us to sit with our of town friends who had a similar reservation. The drinks, food and service were wonderful.

This was my first time visiting the Speckled Trout. I actually enjoyed my trout po boy. Not a fan of wheat bread but it was tasty. Staff were friendly and it was a decent experience for a Sunday afternoon. I would definitely go back to try the other dishes.

We were informed that the wait time would be over 2.5 hours; however, we were offered two seats at the bar, which we took. The service was impeccable, and the waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food arrived quickly, and the presentation was top-shelf. My boyfriend had the trout nachos, which he said were delicious, and I had the smoked trout with collards and street corn, all delightful! And I definitely recommend the Cowboy Camp!!
