Between limited beverage and side options, many menu items sold out, long waits for service, disengaged hosting staff, half our table being almost done with their meal before other plates came out, and lukewarm food that was not well cooked, we will not be back. This experience did not seem unique to our table- I have never heard “I'm so sorry,” said so many times by waitstaff.

The entrance to the restaurant is truly wonderful - off Main Street down a winding cobblestone pathway through gorgeous greenery to a nice courtyard with comfortable tables and chairs in front of two little very charming buildings housing very pretty inside seating and a bakery. Really a 'secret garden' setting (as I believe this restaurant was once named). The menu is pretty great too, full of creative brunch/luncheon selections. We loved the deviled egg appetizer, each of 6 halves garnished with bacon and capers and served with a nicely dressed field green salad. The lobster bisque was perfect, the veggie sandwich tasty with dilled cream cheese filling and thick crusty bread was good, though needed something more within. And my husband liked the chicken and waffles with bacon jam - though the chicken piece seemed very small (i.e. too small for the price). A major highlight was the trip to the bakery to add desserts to our check. The key lime cupcake with butter cream cheese frosting was incredible, as was the die by chocolate huge brownie. Plus the take home blueberry scone was substantial and terrific the next morning. The problems came with service (someone was in training, so understandable). Though servers were very sweet and orders arrived quickly, they had to be waved down for this and that and our bill was mis-calculated twice which delayed our departure. So although not a completely stellar experience it was definitely worth it for the delightful outdoor setting, the creative menu and the amazing bakery (with reasonable prices). Will definitely return and definitely recommend. Probably quite busy on weekends so recommend reservations - so easy and accurate on Open Table.

A few of us ladies had a wonderful brunch here. Great menu options, mimosas and helpful staff. Will return.

Staff couldnt have been more friendly, let us eat with our dog inside and gave us some fresh bacon to give him. Coffee was solid and the bakery next door served amazing cinnamon rolls. A hidden gem everybody should visit when in

Fantastic Thanksgiving day supper. Natalie took great care of us and Elizabeth made fabulous drinks. Special menu was wonderful (turkey, ham, hanger steak). Can’t wait to try main menu.

Stopped by to get a treat to take out since our rental is close by. I assume it was the owner that I encountered, but I have never been treated so rudely. Door was open and lights were on and since it was 5:30 on a Wednesday I assumed they were open. Not true and woman I encountered was super rude when I asked a couple questions. At this point I would not even try going back and being treated so rudely

Went here for dinner and the food was phenomenal. Some of the best during our trip to Blowing Rock and the Parkway. The service was very fast and our server kept us entertained.
My husband had the chicken parmesan and I had the caesar salad with salmon.

This was a huge disappointment. We had a reservation in advance. Got there 10 min early because we knew it would be busy so didn’t want to take a chance and miss it. There were SO many parties standing outside, also with reservations. No one greeted anyone to put their names on the list that they arrived. 20 minutes after our reservation time we ended up just sitting at a table outside (by our choosing, the hostess didn’t seat us). We went and let them know that we were just going to sit outside since we had two young kids. As we were sitting there watching everyone go in and out we counted 5 parties left because of the service. No one ever got seated. We went inside and said we were ready to order as it had been a while. Still no waitress came. We ended up just leaving too. So 6 parties missed. We couldn’t believe how understaffed they were. Writing this in hopes this brings awareness to the restaurant that things need to change in order to operate successfully.

Out of 6 people in the group not one person got there food order correct
Bacon burnt
Sausage gravy super salty and tasted like flour
Eggs greasy
Hash brown casserole was maybe a week old
Would never recommend this place and small hole. The wall places are my favorite places, but not this place.

Awesome restaurant!!! The name can be a little confusing because it sounds like it is a bakery, but this restaurant was amazing!! Cute, comfortable, and clean. Awesome service and very fair pricing. The only issue was that the food was brought out at different times because of a computer glitch, but they were very apologetic. Would definitely recommend it for a weekend brunch!!

I am so glad we ventured down the path! What a great hidden spot! They weren't very busy, so we were lucky enough to get the couch table by the fireplace. It was the perfect spot to dry off and warm up! The staff was awesome at recommending menu items for the kids. My special needs kiddo LOVED the kids burger and the deviled eggs. The bacon was big enough to remove which was perfect for the one kid that doesn't like bacon. My other kids said the macaroni and cheese was the best ever. I got to try some and it was fantastic. I savored every bite of the French onion burger.
The food did take a little while to cook, so I'm glad we got an appetizer. They also have a full bar. The cupcakes were delicious! I loved the ambiance of the pathway through the garden. Outdoor seating is available and they have heaters set up. I could see this being a nice spot for couples and friends as well as family.

Worst food and service we've ever had.
The Bananas Foster French toast was a disaster and the bread wasn't even cooked.
I can't recall what my husband ordered but it was equally horrible and he never got the grits he ordered.

We were so excited to find this quaint little restaurant down a beautiful garden path! We just happened upon it on a trip to Blowing Rock about a month ago, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. We were then lucky enough on our next trip up to find they were serving Thanksgiving Dinner! The had a 4-course fixed menu, and my 19 y.o. son learned that he loves chicken liver pate, imagine! The meats were delightful and the sides were also delicious. The final amazement (after dessert) was that they sent us home with a bright pink box of cinnamon rolls, which we warmed up and ate for breakfast the next morning! The old house is a historic treasure and full of charm! Elizabeth and Tristan took great care of us!! We will be back every time we come to Blowing Rock, and it’s possible that this becomes our new Thanksgiving tradition! ❤️
