Our family throughly enjoyed all the drinks, lox and avo toasts and coffee cake.

Hard to find coffee shops that have it all!

We stayed in Boone in July and it was nice to get a coffee in a place where wait is minimal and you can sit down. Most other places were overcrowded. The food was really good and the coffee was great. The service was attentive.

I used to live in Boone and loved Hatchet - recently, I ordered online and got coffee shipped to my door. The quality is incredible and the AeroPress instructions are on point. Thanks Hatchet for the wonderful coffee!

Hatchet Coffee has a way of feeling instantly familiar, even if you’re not sure you’ve been before. On our second trip to Boone, we pulled up to the café and were struck by that déjà vu sense of comfort an immediate excitement that confirmed we’d found one of the High Country’s true gems. This was our second visit, and once again Hatchet proved itself to be among the best coffee purveyors in the region. The line was long, but the anticipation only added to the ritual; after all, we had a 45-minute drive ahead to Grandfather Mountain, and good coffee was non-negotiable. At the counter, the staff embodied the kind of hospitality that makes a place unforgettable. The cashier was warm and attentive, quick to ask questions when she didn’t have an answer, and genuinely excited to help. I had come to swap ground beans for whole, and while the exchange wasn’t possible, they graciously sent me home with a bag of Brazilian beans instead a gesture that spoke volumes about their passion and care. Despite the bustle, the wait was brief, and the atmosphere remained convivial. One of the baristas even struck up a conversation with me about my jacket, a small but meaningful interaction that elevated the experience beyond the cup. Hatchet Coffee is more than a café it’s a community hub, a place where quality and connection meet. With its exceptional brews, thoughtful staff, and welcoming spirit, it’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.

Great coffee! Very expensive. I'm having a hard time understanding how the coffee beans can be over $2 per ounce. Hatchet charges prices you'd expect to see on the Upper East side in Manhattan or Beverly Hills in California, which is odd because they're located on a highly congested road next to a homeless shelter, a trailer park, and a rock quarry. This business roasts great coffee and seems to have no consideration for or awareness of its immediate environment. The parking is miserable. I'm so curious as to how their business is hemorrhaging so much money that they have to charge so much to the locals. Something is fishy.
