“I just had the BEST Italian food! Arancini, ravioli with plum alfredo sauce, cheese pizza and garlic rolls. The sauce is indescribable! Ravioli was like pillows and the plum alfredo was a perfect blend of marinara and alfredo. Great service from Reggie. Paul delivered our food and he said the marinara recipe was his Grandmothers!”

“Let me tell you something: if you want to throw down on some truly SATISFYING southern fare, Proper is the place to do just that! There is hardly a single thing on the menu I haven't licked my plate clean after eating, but I GOTTA give a special shout out to those fried green tomatoes with the pimento cheese AND that meatloaf. I don't know who is in that kitchen, but they are FREAKING it Thursday through Sunday! Thank god for this place.”

“Came here with a group of 4 for my birthday dinner and absolutely loved it! Cozy vibe, great food and excellent service. Highlights: Brussel sprouts, Caesar salad, filet and meatloaf. Server was on top of it the entire time. Very knowledgeable on the menu, gave recommendations, and was super attentive throughout the entire meal. Thanks for a great experience!!”

“Great experience and one of my new favorites. Food was excellent. Fresh, well seasoned and good variety of options. Staff was great with timely and attentive but not overbearing wait staff. Wine and drink options were great and very reasonably priced.Very clean and well run local owned restaurant. Nice location on the outskirts of downtown. Definitely worth a trip. Would highly recommend.They also have several GF and vegan options.”

“Great Vibe and food. One thing we didn't` care for was the seating. Given the fact that there were only two tables occupied when we arrived, we were seated a distance from those two tables. However as more diners arrived, they were placed at the tables right next to us. There were still lots of available tables all throughout the dining area, yet these folks were seated right next to us Who doesn't`t like a little space and privacy when dining ? Seemed like a upscale place like this would realize this.”

“Stopped in for dinner and had the honey chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and tender, the spices added a little heat while the honey added a nice bit of sweetness to it. Would definately recommend the Hatchet coffee stout. Our server was great, she had good recommendations and was very attentive. It was a very good experience and I would certainly recommend stopping by for some delicious food and beer.”

“This was a place we spontaneously decided to dine. My boyfriend told me he'd gone before and it was good so I agreed.They immediately had a spot for us to sit. It was the perfect spot as well because they had musicians performing and where I sat, I was able to enjoy them. My boyfriend said he'd never been when anyone was performing (we went later in the evening around 7:30, not sure how frequently they have someone perform). They played up beat jazz and let a customer sing a song the customers father wrote while they played.The food was absolutely delicious, the waitress we had was knowledgeable and sweet. I will definitely be back.I think the unknowing adventure we had made it more magical, but it's definitely worth the money for the all around experience we got.”

“Service here was top notch. Our waitress made special drinks for my children by adding grenadine to lemonade. They loved it. She also brought my two youngest stickers. My 13 year old daughter complemented her on her outfit/vibe and she took it in stride without missing a beat. My son ordered chicken wings without sauce. Then it took longer for his food to come out than everyone else's. When she brought it out she said that the first batch accidentally had sauce on it so she had them make a new batch. I got the brisket tacos. They were good and also messy. The consensus of the best meat at our table was the ribs. I tried a bit of everything and found the ribs to edge out everything else. Except for when the BBQ sauce was, then it didn't matter what the sauce was on, it was all good. We ordered hush puppies and between the 7 people at the table we didn't finish them. They were smaller than what I'm used to being from Florida, but the flavor was right. My least favorite was the green beans, but my wife loved them. I liked the baked beans. And the coleslaw wasn't my favorite. Overall, 7 people left full and happy. My wife wanted to find some Carolina BBQ and after this she said it was perfect.When pulling into this place use the gas station entrance. I passed the gas station thinking there would be another entrance and I was wrong.”

“Bartender went out of his way to provide detailed descriptions of each beer sample and was very friendly. Every beer we tried was delicious and pretty unique. The vibe was laid back and conversation with regulars was an added awesome bonus. All in all, we plan to stop by any time we are in Boone!”

“Loved everything about our experience tonight ~ wait staff was attentive, personable, knowledgeable and on point!We loved watching them work as a team to make sure everyone was attended to.My husband chose a 22 ounce ribeye, cut table side and it was grilled perfectly and that speaks volumes because he is a Pittsburgh-style, Black and blue, cold in the middle snob when it comes to seared rare steak. The salad and sides were wonderfully paired as well. The wine list was impressive, as they carry my favorites Cakebread Chardonnay and Camus. It is very easy to understand why this family run jewel is such a staple in Boone. As restaurant owners we can definitely see the effort and personal touches on everything. Take a bow - you have impressed us.”

“Nice central location. Clean, large and comfortable rooms. Only drawback is the hotel is close to busy street so you may want to ask for a room facing back side. Parking seemed a little limited if the property was full.”

You can’t be too picky here so I don’t recommend if you have very strict food guidelines.Kid-friendliness: Especially when the chef is an entertainer, this is the best place.
