On our second trip to Boone, we pulled up to the café and were struck by that déjà vu sense of comfort an immediate excitement that confirmed we’d found one of the High Country’s true gems. This was our second visit, and once again Hatchet proved itself to be among the best coffee purveyors in the region. The line was long, but the anticipation only added to the ritual; after all, we had a 45-minute drive ahead to Grandfather Mountain, and good coffee was non-negotiable. At the counter, the staff embodied the kind of hospitality that makes a place unforgettable. The cashier was warm and attentive, quick to ask questions when she didn’t have an answer, and genuinely excited to help. I had come to swap ground beans for whole, and while the exchange wasn’t possible, they graciously sent me home with a bag of Brazilian beans instead a gesture that spoke volumes about their passion and care. Despite the bustle, the wait was brief, and the atmosphere remained convivial. One of the baristas even struck up a conversation with me about my jacket, a small but meaningful interaction that elevated the experience beyond the cup. Hatchet Coffee is more than a café it’s a community hub, a place where quality and connection meet. With its exceptional brews, thoughtful staff, and welcoming spirit, it’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.“

“My son was screaming while I was ordering, the young girl taking my order ran to go grab him the milk I ordered and waited for me to pour it in his sippy and took the cup back to throw away. She obviously did not have to do any of that and I am so grateful she did because the line was long and it allowed me to wait in line without a screaming baby. Every time I’ve gone to the Wichita Falls location I’ve always had above and beyond customer service.“

“I usually don’t write reviews because…oh, well…time, life…but for Local Lion coffee shop I want to do it because it’s one of the places that truly deserves all the praises. Me and my family are not doughnut fans by any means, we eat a doughnut maybe once a year. We are coffee lovers though (me and my husband, not the kids, lol). However, I got a craving of a doughnut and decided to look for a place that has doughnuts, while being in vacation (we live in Charlotte but we were visiting Blowing Rock/Boone area recently) and found Local Lion on the map. I am so glad I did! The coffee was good, we also bought some custom tea blends from them that are exquisite and the doughnuts were excellent. Something so delicious…I will be dreaming of them for a while and I will definitely go back. Plus the kindness of the people working there…everything makes that place worth checking it out. They didn’t sponsored me or nothing, it’s just a happy customer review.“

“I love going to Betty’s Biscuits! It has become one of my favorite places to go while in downtown Boone. The service has always been fabulous, I love the vibe, and the food is delicious. A great spot to meet up with friends or bring the family for a memorable outing! 💛“

“There's a reason everyone goes here. It's an excellent coffee shop and a great hangout. Also perfect for studying. There's enough ambiance for both. Coffee/study date? You got it. Need to relax? It's an awesome lounge (although I prefer the solarium across the hall). Getting together for a coffee meeting? Everyone at App State, and I mean everyone, will recommend Crossroads. It's also a popular area to write, read, work, and study. Things that could be improved include open hours on weekends, music variety (I get that you're going for a "coffee shop" aesthetic, but there are plenty of kinds of music that can create that. For example, the time you played the Mos Eisley Cantina Theme was a welcome surprise.), more live piano music, and even more menu items like café con leche, horchata, etc.. I'd also like it if you restocked the display cabinet for pastries more than daily since it always seems to run out by mid-afternoon, but I understand that could be a financial issue.“

“My family and I went to blue deer and we all customized our own icecream sandwiches. The employees were both super nice, quick, and it wasn’t too expensive. We loved being able to pick a different flavor cookie for the top & bottom, and the sandwiches were the perfect size and taste. There’s plenty of seating upstairs and it’s located super conveniently near campus, shops, and restaurants.“

“I love this library so much ♥️ It's been a haven for 4 years now and I'll always hold it in high esteem! They're really good about ensuring there is a quiet place for people to work and the school provides many resources through the library. Also I've always had an easy time reaching the librarians through the website and receive a quick response. I really appreciate the work App has put in to make the library a great place to study and focus. I always feel safe here even when I'm doing an all night homework sesh. There are security guards who check for student IDs at the door over night and there are guards who walk the floor checking for IDs periodically.“

“I visited this Starbucks location Thursday evening after a very long day of classes and work, and was absolutely thrilled by the service I received from "Mads"! I had no intentions of stopping by Starbucks as I was just hoping to pick up some essentials for dinner from the grocery store; But am so glad I had the time to do so. Mads recommended a drink that I can now say is easily my favorite drink of all time. I am pretty picky, but she took the time to hold conversation with me, and made sure to come up with something she thought I would love. The drink was made quickly, and was delicious. Other customers around me seemed very happy as well. I was very happy to have met Mads and be around her bubbly, driven work personality! I will be back for sure!“

“I am quite pleased with my experiences at the Boone Baglery restaurant right off of King St, Boone NC. Not only is the name of the establishment in question clever, but the food, service, and atmosphere are consistently superb. Firstly, the food is always particularly scrumptious. Not only do they offer a variety of bagels that can be toasted to perfection, but they offer a variety of cream cheese spreads to compliment these bagels. They also have many different breakfast items to satisfy your early morning munchies. Next, the service. I have never not been greeted with a smile at the Boone Baglery. They also often get extremely busy with business, but do not fail to give you the best customer service experience possible. I just feel in my bones that each and every Boone Baglery employee has a spot in heaven for them. Lastly, the atmosphere. Not only is the establishment located on King Street, but the building itself is quite whimsical. I might also add that the Google Maps profile states that Boone Baglery is LGBTQ+ friendly, which only deepens my approval. I am exhausted of any mistreatment of any group of human, so the acceptance offered by this business only adds to my breakfast immersion. Overall, I would say the Boone Baglery is easily one of the best small businesses and places to eat within the boundaries of Watauga County, NC.
