“Mint is the best restaurant in the Boone/Blowing Rock area! The food is fantastic, most ingredients from India. Cucumber salad and hot cauliflower appetizer, the saag options are all amazing. The service is attentive, friendly and professional. Aman is the best. He remembers us and makes us feel special plus he makes the most delicious drink - Mango Mojito. Atmosphere is nice, and to top it all off it’s a great value.“

“My son was screaming while I was ordering, the young girl taking my order ran to go grab him the milk I ordered and waited for me to pour it in his sippy and took the cup back to throw away. She obviously did not have to do any of that and I am so grateful she did because the line was long and it allowed me to wait in line without a screaming baby. Every time I’ve gone to the Wichita Falls location I’ve always had above and beyond customer service.“

“I have visited both blue deer in Blowing Rock & now this one on King in Boone. At this location, Luc was at the register and Lindsay made my vanilla shake with crumbled chocolate chip. She took the time to get it right. Both employees were nice, too! While I love their ice cream which is sourced from Homeland Creamery in Julian, NC—I did ask where they get the baked goods & it’s actually US Goods, from my understanding.

I would love for them to source local cookies & baked goods to use in their ice creams. It would elevate the experience! I did find out the bagels are local, that’s a plus for me!

BTW, our son enjoys their coffee and the upper levels to occasionally get his projects and reading done for App State.

I do highly recommend Blue Deer! If you can, go up and sit way up high and get the views!

Not your run of the mill by any means and are both just the kind of people that make anywhere their at, a great place ! I roast a different blend of theirs each morning at home and when I have time off, I stop in for a ice vanilla latte ( light ice, lol) and they have it ready and waiting by the time I get to the counter ! Where else can you go and get that kind of personalized service!? Anyways, the last local review I made was unfortunately horrible experience and I'm glad there's places like Matt and Gloria's for when I need to kick it into high gear or decompress from a busy week. Worth every penny !“

“I usually don’t write reviews because…oh, well…time, life…but for Local Lion coffee shop I want to do it because it’s one of the places that truly deserves all the praises. Me and my family are not doughnut fans by any means, we eat a doughnut maybe once a year. We are coffee lovers though (me and my husband, not the kids, lol). However, I got a craving of a doughnut and decided to look for a place that has doughnuts, while being in vacation (we live in Charlotte but we were visiting Blowing Rock/Boone area recently) and found Local Lion on the map. I am so glad I did! The coffee was good, we also bought some custom tea blends from them that are exquisite and the doughnuts were excellent. Something so delicious…I will be dreaming of them for a while and I will definitely go back. Plus the kindness of the people working there…everything makes that place worth checking it out. They didn’t sponsored me or nothing, it’s just a happy customer review.“

“Visited with my family on a winter Saturday. There was a campfire outside on the patio and it was surrounded by folks and their dogs. The inside was warm and busy. The parking lot was tricky to navigate as it was a sheet of ice, but we managed. My husband loved the beers. The kids loved the food; high-brow pub fare. I liked the gluten-free options. Service was swift and professional. A good time was had by all.“

“I have always loved Melanie’s. When I was in college it was a special treat. Since moving away after college, it’s a restaurant I try to make sure to visit when we are in town as often as I can. My daughter has multiple food allergies and so eating out can be tricky. Breakfast places can be especially challenging for her. I emailed Melanie’s this week because we were going to be in town for breakfast Saturday and I REALLY wanted to share my favorite breakfast place with her. I got a very fast response, that was clearly knowledgeable about food allergies and helped us with our decision. She got to have Melanie’s for the first time this weekend, it was safe and it was magical for the whole family. They did a beautiful job. My heart and tummy are full.“

“I was very disappointed. Usually their pizza is excellent this was over cooked and not well made. We ordered it from a delivery service have my granddaughter got a flat bread pizza that she couldn’t even eat she said it was disgusting. Just a suggestion maybe you want to use the mini chocolate chips in your cannolis I think they would be much better than trying to eat the big ones with the cheese mixture. At least they were good. Their house vinaigrette was very good at least I enjoyed the salad!“
