blue deer on king Ice Cream Shop • $
352 W King St, Boone

“My husband and I were in town for a weekend getaway in Boone and decided to stop by blue deer for a sweet treat. We both got the double chocolate chip cookie sandwiches but with different ice creams. My husband got the coffee ice cream and I got the peppermint ice cream. Loved the cookie sandwich! Peppermint ice cream is so hard to get right especially since it can taste like toothpaste but blue deer got it right - sweet, tasty, and perfect texture. I loved it so much that I came back the next day to get the exact same thing. The two girls working were very nice and helpful. Samples of ice cream are also offered to help narrow down your options.“

“you won’t find a space that makes you feel more wanted, welcomed, safe, and loved. Worth going back to my college town, 100%, every time. As a queer POC, I have never ever ever felt uncomfortable or out of place once. They have free Lily’s Cup covers available at request to protect your drink (& extra points for helping to avoid spills)! As far as I understand, all staff are trained for safety measures and if you ever feel in need of help or would like to share something discreetly, every person who works there will help you without question. Also! They have AWESOME theme parties, and host amazing events. It’s always “A Real Cool Time™️” ??Dietary restrictions: I’ve never seen anyone NOT get accommodated with anything they ask for. Ingredients are posted clearly on every menu item & everything is made to order (anyway) but of course if you have special dietary needs and you let them know, you’ll get exactly what you wantParking: It’s a college town, if you’re going during busy hours, you may find parking difficult. But, they do have their own lot in front of the building.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs & open floor plan“

“Service here was top notch. Our waitress made special drinks for my children by adding grenadine to lemonade. They loved it. She also brought my two youngest stickers. My 13 year old daughter complemented her on her outfit/vibe and she took it in stride without missing a beat. My son ordered chicken wings without sauce. Then it took longer for his food to come out than everyone else's. When she brought it out she said that the first batch accidentally had sauce on it so she had them make a new batch. I got the brisket tacos. They were good and also messy. The consensus of the best meat at our table was the ribs. I tried a bit of everything and found the ribs to edge out everything else. Except for when the BBQ sauce was, then it didn't matter what the sauce was on, it was all good. We ordered hush puppies and between the 7 people at the table we didn't finish them. They were smaller than what I'm used to being from Florida, but the flavor was right. My least favorite was the green beans, but my wife loved them. I liked the baked beans. And the coleslaw wasn't my favorite. Overall, 7 people left full and happy. My wife wanted to find some Carolina BBQ and after this she said it was perfect. When pulling into this place use the gas station entrance. I passed the gas station thinking there would be another entrance and I was wrong.“
