“Cute little coffee shop. Loved the dark drip coffee and the barista was spot-on describing the flavor - love going to coffee shops that really know coffee. I also tried the blueberry scone and it wasn't my favorite - it appeared homemade (bonus for that), but the blueberries were too wet and fought the dryness of the scone. Bottom line: I'll definitely be back to also try the espresso and more pastries :-) but the drip coffee was enough to put Bald Guy Brew on my go-to list.“
“The coffee was exceptional! We had a vanilla latte and cinnamon roll, both tasted high quality. We also tried the banana bread, a scone, and a bacon cheese biscuit. The banana bread was a little bland but everything else was great! Service was very friendly.“

“I caught the sunrise at the parkway and typed best coffee near me and this place had the highest reviews. I got a hot coffee blueberry and vanilla latte and it had the heart design on it for me lol...most importantly, they allowed my Husky, Meekah into the shop to sniff around and be sporadic. Wonderful vibes and great coffee. Highly recommended!!“

“I am so excited that this restaurant opened, it is my new favorite takeout in town. Their $5 gyro special 3-5pm during the week is wonderful. My go to is sharing the $30 sampler platter. You get spanakopita, dolmas, chicken and pork gyro meat, pita, falafel, hummus, tzatziki, orzo salad, potato salad, leafy greens salad. Just cannot recommend it enough, it's all really good.“

“I adore Hatchet! Such a cute spot and the drinks are always great. I always stop by when I'm in town to try new flavors. I have enjoyed their matcha in the past and recently really liked their honey bee latte. Would recommend the avocado toast, very flavorful and they do not skimp on the avocado. The people there are always super nice and provide good recommendations. They also have a lot of spacious seating and cute merch, as well as products from other small businesses. Definitely worth a visit!“

“My husband and I were in town for a weekend getaway in Boone and decided to stop by blue deer for a sweet treat. We both got the double chocolate chip cookie sandwiches but with different ice creams. My husband got the coffee ice cream and I got the peppermint ice cream. Loved the cookie sandwich! Peppermint ice cream is so hard to get right especially since it can taste like toothpaste but blue deer got it right - sweet, tasty, and perfect texture. I loved it so much that I came back the next day to get the exact same thing.The two girls working were very nice and helpful. Samples of ice cream are also offered to help narrow down your options.“
“I ordered an 8oz Cappuccino with lots of froth, reg milk for in-house and they delivered! The froth was stiff and perfect, the coffee itself was bitter but sweet(?) Good though, a satisfying type of bitter/sweet. I loved it.I then ordered their seasonal Chai Cider w/ Oat Milk and it was SO GOOD!! The baristas strutted their stuff with this gem! The oat milk had such a creamy froth I thought it was regular milk for a sec!Once you get inside it’s wonderful, though the parking is…limited. I got lucky but there are only 4(?) designated spots and with seemingly strict towing for the surround business. I recommend parking elsewhere and walking, highly worth it in my opinion!I would have taken pictures but I drank them too fast ?“
“Wonderful staff, great location, nice shop with premium espresso machines.Wife's latte was perfect, best either of us have had in ages.The "Trooper Smoothie" - on the other hand was really, really bad.For $6+ I'd naively assumed it would contain actual bananas. Instead, it's a (sickeningly-sweet) banana-flavored goo from a jug mixed with peter-pan peanut butter, a dairy-based protein powder and ice. Gave it a chance since, sometimes, however unhealthy flavored goos may be - they are occasionally delicious. Mmmm... forbidden goo...Nope. I poured it in the gutter a few steps down the road, just awful tasting.We'll stick to coffee next time - which again, was superb and truly a rare find.“
“Always a joy stepping into Higher Grounds when we're in the area because we always know that whatever the drink of choice is that day, it will be delightful. What drives it home for me is the wall of beans you can bag and take as that gets me by for a few weeks while I miss that mountain air. There are only a few tables inside from r seating though so it best to grab and go.“
“Came here multiple times after a drive on the blue ridge parkway. I haven't ever had a good experience with coffee from a coffee truck, but I was pleasantly surprised. Every drink me and my boyfriend tried was amazing! And the price was also really good since an oat milk latte is around $8 or $9 where I'm from. The customer service was amazing everytime and the coffee (+tea) tasted great! I will be back in the future for sure.“
