Higher Grounds Coffee Shoppe

This coffee is really good! The service is always consistent. I normally get the “caramel” thing and it is always delicious. Definitely one of the best coffee shops in Boone.

I used go to Higher Ground only for the convenience of where it is located. The service and the coffee are definitely not good. I ordered an iced latte not too long ago, and the taste was very off and not fresh. The hot latte I ordered shortly after that only filled half of the small cup that I had ordered, it was gone in two sips. Today, I went back for a drip coffee, which is self-serve at this shop, and the coffee was barely lukewarm, and the creamer sitting out was not cold, or even cool, so both had been sitting out for a while. I had to reheat my coffee when I got home. Lastly, the young baristas who are usually working are often rude and act as if taking orders are a chore. After today, I will not be going back to this coffee shop. Kovu’s coffee is another locally owned coffee shop just down the road from Higher Ground, and the coffee and service is wonderful, they will now be my only local go-to.

Do not waste your time or money at this shop! No one wants a bad cup of coffee or poor service, especially in the cold Boone weather!!!

This is my favorite coffee spot in Boone specifically for their rainforest brunch whole bean brew. They have little sample packs of dozens of flavor options for a couple dollars.

Been going to Higher Grounds for 5 years or better and never thought to leave a review. What can I say, I love the place! Matt & Gloria are the best of people. Not your run of the mill by any means and are both just the kind of people that make anywhere their at, a great place ! I roast a different blend of theirs each morning at home and when I have time off, I stop in for a ice vanilla latte ( light ice, lol) and they have it ready and waiting by the time I get to the counter ! Where else can you go and get that kind of personalized service!? Anyways, the last local review I made was unfortunately horrible experience and I'm glad there's places like Matt and Gloria's for when I need to kick it into high gear or decompress from a busy week. Worth every penny !

I used to go all of the time, as a student I was looking for a cozy local coffee shop with a comfortable atmosphere, but the baristas are rude. I had an interaction with one recently and she argumentative and rude, asking me to leave and watching me, after I calmly told her that I would. She waited an hour to tell me to leave because I had not ordered anything. I understand and I wasn't trying to take advantage of their store, in my mind I was a regular and just didn't want coffee. I understand why she asked me to leave but it was the way she spoke to me. Some baristas are awesome and make up for the few that seem to hate their job and the customers. there are better local coffee shops with friendly faces and comfortable spots. the coffee and espresso also tastes bitter and I've just definitely tasted better.

Wow! Fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in! The service was exceptional and the espresso was was rich and delicious! I cant wait to go back!
