This is a great place to grab a pizza with the family, have a beer and kick back. Lots of options even for the picky eaters. Parking can be somewhat challenging. Expect to walk a little ways unless you get lucky.

I’ve been to mellow mushroom before but this was my first time at this location with my kids and girlfriend. We got lucky and had Dunkin as our server. He’s a good server and has a good personality. Next time we’re in this area we’ll definitely be back :)

Piper was a great server. The owner was super friendly. They dropped a single piece of our pizza. Instead of replacing one piece, they gave us the original pie plus whole extra pie on the house. Top notch establishment!

Everything about our visit was perfect! Polite and attentive staff, great atmosphere, and the large cheese pizza we ordered was out of this world good!
I was there for the first and only time. My group of 6 ordered a lg meat pizza, a small mushroom pizza and a 15 piece of wings. After that was delivered we wanted to order more wings and another pizza. We were told that we could not keep sitting there enjoying our time together with our food. The 2nd order was cancelled because we were told that we could get it to go. But not to stay in your establishment to eat.

I dine at mellow mushrooms all the time. I actually make it a point to visit any mellow mushroom I pass on my journeys. There is one that always stands out to me; Boone, NC. The service is always an 11/10. I never have to ask for a refill and have become friends with some of the staff. If I have a music request, they fulfill it. If I want to watch Judge Judy on TV, they turn it on. Brianna, the bartender makes my Arnold Palmer with exactly the correct proportions. I even saw them giving toilet paper to a neighbor in need (Boone Saloon) after they had, needless to say, a busy night in the restroom. We’ve all been there! But not after mellow mushroom. With their glowing safety rating, I never worry about this. I have personally been in when the food inspector was there and he wasn’t surprised one bit with the immaculate condition of the kitchen as the staff and management are always on top of food safety. Speaking of safety, you may have noticed they removed the swing from the bar in their 2025 remodel, good move. Though if there’s a way I could purchase this from them, it would make a great addition for my mellow mushroom collectibles room. Mellow mushroom. I love you.

I understand that every restaurant in Boone is busy after an App State game. However, Mellow Mushroom takes busy to another level. You cannot call ahead. They tell you your table will be ready in 40-45 minutes…..so you wait like everyone else. After 45-50 minutes, you ask the hostess how much longer. She says we are running behind, so at least another 20 minutes. Your table is finally ready an hour and half later. Do you think I would have stayed if they told me that an hour and a half ago? Not sure about the type of training that happens at this place, but I do not recommend eating at this restaurant. This is a small Mellow Mushroom compared to others I have visited. The atmosphere is loud, chaotic, and people waiting for a table are standing around those who are eating. This is a college town, but also a high tourist area. You would think customer service would be top priority!
