Absolutely abysmal. Waited about 30 minutes to be sat. Which isn’t a big deal at all. Server was really nice. But, this issue we had was the kitchen “lost our ticket.” Or “Messed up our food” was told both things by 2 separate people. Waited almost 2 hours for our food and still never got our food. Was told at 7:40pm the food order was messed up. I waited until 8:10pm and no food we just left. Told this story to the second restaurant we went to and they said this happens all the time and they aren’t surprised. Would not recommend.

We went here after a long day at the gem mine. The food was delicious and I must say the elk burger was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

We are here for a overnight and looked on line for good places to eat.The Cardinal came up first.Love the vibs and the flag message over the bar. We were in the parking lot to head out and ran into a sweet guy that was owner good smile and friendly 😊 The burger was out standing and our server was on point.Will now be my favorite every time we come to Boone it is the start of a beautiful New Year. Happy 2026

I also tried their hot damn ham dip before.... not healthy in the slightest, but soooo worth it.
Kale Caesar salad with some fried chicken is AMAZING.
Bloody Mary... beautifully crafted!!!!
The prices are a little high, but omg the flavor is soooo worth it.... especially in a town that restaurants do not season their food much due to tourism.

The Cardinal is such a solid spot in Boone. The food was really good and filling, and everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe is relaxed and casual, perfect for a laid-back meal. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was quick even when it was busy. If you want good food without anything fancy, The Cardinal is definitely a go-to. Would come back for sure. 🍔

Cardinal was my favorite during my time at App State & still reigns at the top! Just miss those chipotle sweet potatoes. 😫 One of the best turkey burgers around!
