Lovely place - great service. Food was amazing. Did not imagine Tempeh could taste this great. Loved our emu+chorizo burger as well. Get the Fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese, else it's a little dry/bland. The beet burger was surprisingly nice - a little greasy though.
One of the best restaurants in the high country, hands down. Fresh, local ingredients, interesting cocktails, and always great service.All the burgers are great, but try the chicken sandwich! Servers are attentive and give great recommendations. Thank you Cardinal <3
We ate here for lunch today. I had the Farm burger, my girlfriend had the grilled chicken sandwich, and we shared a Bisbee roll. The service was solid, and the food was delicious, I loved my burger and the grilled chicken sandwich had great flavor. We did both agree that the chicken was a little dry. What made this meal amazing, was as we were walking out, a manager or owner named Scott stopped us as he overheard us mentioning the chicken. He brought us back in and very graciously gave a us a voucher to come back and enjoy a free $25 meal! It was fantastic customer service and a genuine FOH management at it’s finest. We will most definitely be back to try some more delicious food!

A very hip Staff member and owner were busy feeding themselves instead of seating customers, the host sat people in front of us without asking who was next, no protocol. This is not my first bad experience here (previous food poisoning on their byson burger). I had very rude chat with the hyper aggressive owner and full time kitchen skier. Why does the menu not state the ounce size of the burgers, interesting? He needs to stop inhaling or consuming so much meat glue whilst mixing those chewy gristle burgers, I believe it’s made him rabid and angry judging by his gross behavior. You sir should watch out how much wild game you consume and make sure it’s cooked all the way through or maybe get some Vitamin D. The worst customer service and the chewiest burgers in Boone by far. The burgers are full of gristle and are not worth the wait or hype by any imagination. Do yourself a favor and go to Come Back Shack or any other place with burgers, seriously. This review is not out of anger only repeated personal, friend, and family experiences.

Got the triple burger, no bun with egg on it and a side salad with a soda. The burger here is average and nothing special. Cooked too well done, without asking temp you want, so I assume that’s what all of them are cooked too.The total came out to $27 for this. I understand it was the triple burger but the value you get back is just insane. Not worth near almost $30 for a meal. Overall, this place is pretty cool but overpriced.

The Cardinal has exceptional burgers with a menu they keep updated frequently with fresh items. Their seasonal cocktails are always delicious. They keep great local brews on tap with a variety of craft beers from all over. One of our favorite places to eat and drink in Boone!Editing 3 years later, Nov 2020:The Cardinal continues to be one of our favorite places in town. They have done an outstanding job in caring for their employees and greater community throughout Covid and continue to show love for every human. Favorite place for some tasty food and some drinks!

We stopped here before going to skiing at Appalachian. We were a pretty big group but we’re sat quickly. The service was very friendly and the food came out at a decent time given our size group. Food tastes great everyone enjoyed their entrees out only collective dislike was that the home fries were too salty but maybe it was just a bad batch.
