Stayed at this property on Dec 28, 2025; price does not match the value. Breakfast service and quality poor to horrible, rooftop bar not enjoyable during the winter and bar inside service was poor.
No, in late December the roof top bar is too cold to enjoy. The room was ok but the breakfast was a nightmare, one person handling everything in the eating area. When you think the cost was $300/night, this hotel was overpriced.
The Horton Hotel was so accommodating and convenient for my recent visit. The location was minutes from my daughter on campus and the room was very comfortable with a fantastic view of historic downtown. I will definitely stay again!
EXCELLENT! The entire staff is the best of the best. Cannot beat the location and acommodations. Thank you for the tremendous service and experience. We'll be back!
I have never experienced anything remotely as unacceptable as my stay at this hotel. Not once, but TWICE, the sprinkler system went off and continued leaking in our room, soaking our belongings, and disrupting our sleep. You would think an emergency like this would prompt immediate concern or assistance. Instead, we were met with indifference, dismissiveness, and zero accountability.
The front desk staff acted as if this was a minor inconvenience, not a major failure on the hotel’s part. No apology, no urgency, and definitely no sense of responsibility. When we requested compensation—which is a basic expectation given the circumstances—we were ignored and brushed off, as if their own system malfunctioning and flooding a guest’s room was somehow our problem to deal with. We followed up with an email to the hotel manager, but never received a response.
A hotel that cares so little about guest safety and comfort should not be in business. Between the negligence, the lack of professionalism, and the complete refusal to make things right, this was hands down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
Save yourself the trouble and stay literally anywhere else.
The room exceeded my expectations. Spacious. Furnishings were perfect. Location is great for exploring King street. We parked Thursday afternoon and didn't move the car again until we left on Friday.
The logistics with parking at check-in can be a challenge.
Our room code didn't work at check-in but the staff was prompt to respond and get that worked out.
The TV in our room wasn't working. Call into maintenance wasn't returned. It was after hours, but at checkout the front desk wasn't aware of the problem. Looking forward to our next trip. Overall a wonderful time and would recommend a stay at Horton to anyone.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Horton Hotel. The location was perfect for enjoying downtown Boone for the weekend as well as a quick trip to get to hiking. The service was excellent. I found the room to be perfect. It was quite & I didn’t even need my earplugs. The complimentary breakfast was fabulous. I also enjoyed going to the rooftop bar on property as well as two of their recommended restaurants. I would definitely come back to this hotel & would suggest it to friends who come to visit the area
I have wanted to check this place out since I saw it on tv (pretty sure pbs). Seems very quaint and cozy. While The service from the rooftop bar wasn't the best but nice view and the firepits are artsy beautiful! Hope to come back and stay the night.
Parking is across the street so that was kinda not good. The rooftop bar was nice location is great
My husband John and I got married in Boone on October 28, 2016, so this town will always hold a special place in our hearts. We recently came back and stayed at The Horton Hotel, and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome — warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive.
Our room was spotless, stylish, and cozy, with all the little touches that make you feel right at home. The rooftop bar was our favorite spot — amazing drinks, gorgeous views, and such a romantic place to watch the sunset together.
It felt so special to celebrate our anniversary weekend back where it all began, and The Horton made it even more memorable. We left relaxed, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel to anyone visiting Boone! 💛

I would leave a ZERO only for the Bartenders for stealing my drinks after I sat them down use the restroom and threw them out. Then yelled at ma when I asked for a reason. Both bartenders were jerks. Beware of the ugliness from the bar. Brutal attitude. I thought they maybe hitting the bottle.
Great location and beautiful hotel
This is such a beautiful and unique hotel. I love all the woods accents in the rooms. The lobby is beautiful and it's in the heart of downtown Boone, NC
I have only gone to the rooftop bar but it is very pleasant to relax with friends.
It's easily the sexiest rooftop bar in Boone.
