We celebrated my hubby’s Birthday last night while visiting from Raleigh. We were FLOORED with how good it was!!! We had the caprice, risotto, and mountain trout. Delicious!! The chocolate desert was the best desert we’ve ever had along with Sullivan’s Steakhouse’s bananas foster in Raleigh. Great service and the hotel’s ambience was so historical. Loved it!!

Oh my! The Dining Room at Fryemont Inn is a truly delicious experience!

The historic inn is nestled in the mountains in Bryson City, North Carolina, just a little over 100 years old.

This inn, including the gorgeous 1920’s vaulted ceiling great room, is constructed from the now rare American Chestnut, which is aromatic in a way that enhances the dining experience.

First, we were warmly greeted and promptly aware despite not having made a reservation.

Our server, Josh, was great! I couldn’t decide on my entree, so he went ahead and started us with drinks and the soup course that comes with every full meal. The soup was an innovative BLT soup, with all of the flavors and textures of a bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich in a creamy base. It was so good, I could have had only the soup and been content!

Next, Josh brought out crisp mixed greens with cherry tomatoes, croutons, and red onion with choice of house made dressing. My husband and I both had the blue cheese dressing, which was fantastic! I can’t vouch for the honey mustard or ranch dressings, but I bet they are equally as good.

I decided on the special of the night, Trout Florentine. The chef at the Fryemont gets the fresh trout daily! This particular preparation featured a roasted tomato and creamy spinach sauce over a perfectly cooked delicately flavored flaky trout filet. My husband had the buttery medium rare Prime Rib with horseradish, which was apparently so delicious that he did not offer me a bite!

The three family-style vegetables of the day were Parmesan roasted red potatoes, a tomato bake, and broccoli with cheese sauce. All were excellent!

For dessert, my husband had the homemade peach cobbler with ice cream, which I was too slow to get a photo of, since he wolfed it down as though he hadn’t already eaten soup, salad, prime rib, and three delicious sides. I held back and got my dessert-a blueberry sour cream pound cake with citrus glaze-to go.

We will definitely be back!

The Fryemont is very special. Great multi course home cooking and great service in a large historic dining room with a massive stone fireplace.

This is an interesting experience to say the least. They have been open since 1923 and it sure feels like they have been open since then. If you were big into the Ambiance of a place then you should definitely come here. I think that there is a lot to offer with this place. The food was good and it was reasonably priced for how much food you get. If we're going to be honest I was not a big fan of having the family style of side dishes, as I could have been content with my own. We are currently visiting cherokee, and this has been the best gluten-free dining experience that I have had so far. If I could not eat something the restaurant was more than accommodating to adapt to that. They ensured that if I needed a substitution they could find one. The menu is large and extensive. They have a nice wine list too.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free safe and super accommodating.

Parking: The driveway to get there sneaks up on you

Wheelchair accessibility: This is an old building with many stairs

They advertise that they are open to the public. However they have you stand in line for 20 minutes and then tell you they can't serve you.

Too bad they don't have more stars! This "Dining Room" is a five-star restaurant. The food is unbelievable. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere must be experienced to be believed. They are always fully booked. From the salad and soup to the dessert, nothing is second class. Top notch all the way. The owners are on site and make sure that every expectation is met. The Inn is quaint, the dining room cozy and comfortable. In the fall, the views are breath-taking.

Parking: Just enough room for the clientele. Every parking spot is close to the entrance.
