The staff is very rude and hateful. We went into the restaurant around 11:15 and asked if they were serving lunch yet. We were met with a hateful attitude and a "No, she says it starts at 11, but it's whenever she gets done cooking breakfast." There is no need to be rude to customers. In recent years this restaurant has seriously gone downhill.
Breakfast is the best. Family owned. I recommend biscuits and gravy
It is a nice family run restaurant. The menu is simple and the food is good! We had breakfast and it’s pretty much exactly what you want if you’re wanting coffee, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. They take cash and there is an ATM available on site. My kid got sick here (car sick, this is where we stopped to eat) and instead of being annoyed they were really kind to him and helped get us situated. How a place treats kids says a lot I think! Go here and support a local family owned restaurant.
Staff is extremely nice, with that being said, we were there on a weekday morning, coffee was served cold, water was served in red solo cups and food was on chinet plates. Another customer called the server over to show her the bug that was crawling on her plate. Cash only payments. The food was good. Recommend the pancakes...So sad because this was a favorite when visiting.
Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time!!! Friendly staff, Christian restaurant. Everything was clean and food was delicious.
Went for breakfast and everything was delicious. I highly recommend. We had hot chocolate (superb!), the egg and cheese biscuit was fluffy with a great flavor, and one of the best omelets I've had in a while.
I will be honest that this wasn't our first choice for breakfast we did enjoy our meals. We got our orders in quickly, got our drinks really fast and were lucky enough to get our food before the power went out in all of downtown. The only downside was that they offered grits but didn't have any. There is a sign that says they are short staffed and having went a little later in the morning that really did effect us. the food was freshly made, cooked just as asked and the pancake was the thickest one that I have ever had. I am glad that we ended up at the Iron Skillet and we would definitely go back.
Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. The staff was flustered because they were under staffed. The food took very long we had to take it to go in order to make it in time to catch the train even though we gave ourselves a lot of time way over 90 minutes to eat and 30 minutes to get to the train station. The customer service itself was not bad. They are cash only and do not allow dogs inside. The food itself is country and okay. I personally dislike their food. I'm mainly from Texas due to the Air Force so maybe Texas country food is just way better than North Carolina country food.
Delicious food. Friendly staff. Even with the shortage of staff great service. Convenient location to the Great Smokey Mountain Train depot.
This is a nice place to stop in for some great food. Be aware that they are short staffed and lots of folks like this place. If you are impatient or rude perhaps you should look elsewhere. The staff is far too kind to deal with stuff like that. If you can wait then you will have some of the best tasting southern food you can find here at this gem of a diner. I had the meat lovers omelette with home fries and toast. Their sweet tea is on point. I cleaned my plate.

We were pleasantly surprised by the great food at this restaurant.
Me and my family went here to eat this morning got there at 10:55am. They was out of breakfast... So we said okay and got lunch, but little did we know that we was going to have to wait 1 Hour to receive a burger. Also the prices are really high, $10.75 for a plain cheeseburger! The wait staff is rude, you have to sign in and wait outside the restaurant to be seated. Do not recommend
Friendly service and tasty food. Cute decorations inside. One of the only places open for breakfast on Tuesday as well. Left satisfied.
My wife and I have both worked in the restaurant industry before. We've both worked with large quantities of people and in understaffed situations. I understand that work days are stressful, long and hard. But that shouldn't be an excuse for rudeness to customers. A server that was serving another table was rude and dismissive to her customers and bad mouthing other businesses in the neighboring town. Our server was barely attentive. Again I understand being overworked and understaffed. But I also understand "service with a smile" and "don't let your mood reflect your work ethic". Other than the servers behavior, the food was okay. But it took an hour to get a burger and fries. They were out of breakfast. And it's 11.00$ for a burger and fries. So 2 rude servers, 1hour wait time and 50$ later the restaurant was under par.
We enjoyed our meal very much. The staff were very nice and accomodating. It took a very long time to receive our food though, I attribute that to being short staffed.
