Quite literally the only place serving food for miles outside of gas station pizza and boiled peanuts. Don't let that deter you, we had some of the most delicious food of our entire trip to the mountains. Nestled on the fairway side of Mt. Mitchell Golf Club clubhouse, the views of the aforementioned mountain are spectacular. Giant windows frame up all the peaks and rolling clouds, it truly is a delight for a golf clubhouse. Sandwiches galore and even a BYO pizza option all at the ready at lunchtime. The food was fresh, the fries deliciously battered and golden. The burger had a deep umami flat top smash/maillard/char thing happening. Both my daughter and I agreed it was one of the simplest, best tasting burgers in recent memory. The pizza was enormous, dwarfing the nine year-old attempting to eat it. The Mrs. had a jalapeño pimento cheese sandwich with many compliments on the side. Our waitress even flipped the TV from Golf Channel talking heads to a kids channel showing Scooby Doo to keep the young ones entertained. Good stuff. A Titleist in the rough. Most deserving of a lunchtime green jacket.Kid-friendliness: Hate watching old dudes talk about golf? They'll change the TV to Scooby Doo, no problemo. Ruh-roh, Raggy!

It was the off season so there was a limit menu which we weren't aware of, we were the only table in the restaurant. we were from out of town and had never been there before so we made reservations, not knowing it would be so slow, but the serve/bartender had a table set aside with a black linen tablecloth and decorative napkins. there were only a few people eating and drinking at the bar, but she did a great job and was very attentive. The next time we stay in the area we will definitely stop here again.

Hawtree Pub & Grill inside the Mt Mitchell Golf Club.Went here for their Valentine's steak dinner for 2 ($50) included bread, non-alcoholic drink, salad choice, mashed potato, greenbeans with bacon, 4oz filet, chocolate mousse & chocolate tuxedo strawberries for dessert.Good food but room for improvements (the bartender was our wait staff: friendly but timing improvements needed, music needed to improve atmosphere, baked instead of mashed potatoes, and temperature on steaks was inconsistent).Great effort.

Lovely atmosphere, great peeps and even though there wasn’t many workers when we got there, the place great pretty safe for first time visitors. And the scenery is beautiful. I watched some folks playing golf and that was very entertaining.I definitely recommend !

We went last night (Sunday) for 75 cent wings special. They were meaty and delicious. 5 different flavors to choose from. Blue cheese dressing tasted like fat free or low fat, so that could use improvement. Give them another try- every Sunday wings special. Wednesday is Burger night. Burger, fries and a bottle beer $12.95.

Surprisingly, good place, typical golf club restaurant but better. The setting is at the foot of Mount Mitchell, and the view from the back of the restaurant is spectacular. We had appetizer wings that were a little more breaded than I like but we're very good as well as trout dip, which came with a whole bunch of vegetables and crackers. Salads, both house and Caesar were fresh but I would get the dressing on the side. Entrees were Ribeye steaks which were perfectly cooked, and were fairly tender. One of my sons had pork chops, which he enjoyed a great deal. The dessert menu was fairly plain, but quite good. Service was attentive and the food was a little slow, but not tragically so.

Through the years the restaurant has struggled to get good help yet has been reasonably good ;sometimes better than others . Located at the Mt Mitchell golf course it has decent views of the terrain.A check ahead can help save frustration from being unopened and what they are serving.Wound up with a lackluster buffet of pizza and wings as a full dinner offering once that didn't live up to Club standards by far. Most recently I hear that it's worth another look.....

My husband & I were here on 9/20/23 for dinner. The food was fine but I really wanted to compliment our waitress, Kaitlyn. She was AWESOME and is fairly new. She did an excellent job. This was the best wait person we've had here in a long time.

Stay away. This place changed ownership and went from a great restaurant and bar to a not good restaurant and a terrible bar experience. First the restaurant. Entrees are limited to the weekend and are themselves very limited. The cook (not chef) has a very shady past and has a hard time remaining at a single location for reasons other than her mediocre cooking. Now the bar. It was for the last 14 years a great place to go and meet your friends. The new operations manager made life unbearable for the best bartender I have ever known, and I’ve been in too many to claim. The new bartender is as slow as cold maple syrup and the fact she is tending bar is a testament to how desperate the place has become. This past Friday at 6 o’clock, the place had 3 customers when it was always packed before the ownership change. The drink prices have gone way up and the pours are way down and are the worst, and are only surpassed by the poor service. Chardonnay is served in a small juice glass, forget about a wine stem. The house Chardonnay served in the juice glass, is Hayes Ranch, $7.14 retail, but you pay $7.00. Oh by the way, the new management canceled Wi-Fi. Get the picture? Stay away.

The view from the deck is stunning. This is one of the reasons why we like to take guests there to eat. Also, the person who makes the cocktails is an outstanding mixologist. We consider it a big treat to order a mixed drink there. The trout I had was delicious and well-seasoned. Yummy! They serve a vegetarian pasta often that my daughter-in-law gets that is satisfying and tasty. Salads are excellent as well with house-made dressing. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating.

Great service. Loved our waitress just sweet and very accommodating. The views here are spectacular. As we were waiting on our meal to arrive we were looking at all the food coming out it all looked amazing. We ordered a simple hamburger and steak fries. It was fabulous. Then topped off my birthday meal with a brownie Sunday. Every Friday night they are offering some live music. So great food with entertainment and a view. Can’t go wrong here. And I was also impressed with the prices. Was thinking it would be way over priced being at a golf course, and just for the view, but it was very reasonable. Loved it highly recommend..

Best food I’ve had in a while. I had the 16oz ribeye cooked to perfection with a baked potato and fried okra and can not forget the amazing Cesar salad ? we had a wonderful dinner with our family and with a beautiful view of the mountains. The people that work there are very nice and on top of everything. Highly recommend this place.
