Drove over 30 minutes to get oysters & crab here. Arrived around 5:30 on Tuesday, they opened at 4. Our group sat out front & got settled in. Our waitress came out & started taking our orders, she had a pretty bad attitude from the get-go which didn’t make any sense to us. After our group placed their order the waitress came back out & told us she didn’t have any oysters or crab (which half of us wanted.) We cancelled our orders & left.

What a great hidden gem. From the outside it looks like a dive but on the inside you will find great food. My buddy says the best hamburger he ever had. Me, I get the fish sandwich of the day. Reasonable prices and great drinks. Don't pass Pops up.

Looking for a simple seafood meal to share. I love that the fried shrimp and scallops were so lightly breaded with a great flavor. Shrimp wontons were amazingly delicious! The music was a little too loud for me, hard to visit with my friend.

This is a small place with a huge heart. Lots of great seafood at really good prices. Staff is super friendly and on top of the situation. Fast service. I was in the area for a week and went back to Pop's 3 times. Highly recommend.

Great food, down to earth atmosphere, reasonable prices and the coldest beers in town! This is a local haunt with some good seafood fried or steamed. Had the friend shrimp basket. The shrimp must just look at the batter because they were perfectly lightly coated. Comes with 2 hush puppies, fries and slaw. The cocktail sauce was awesome! Tuna bites were cooked perfectly. Bud lights ice cold. No draft beer but they have a full bar.

This place is dive bar-y in the best of all possible ways. My relatives had been here before and had said once they had to walk once due to bad service. That's the difference between them and me I would not darken the doorway again if I had received the treatment they described to me. That being said the service was fantastic. The place was jumping when we came in for a late lunch. Two of us went raw oysters. They were good and the cocktail sauce was very horseradishy and tasty. My other relative got a fish sandwich. We were still hungry so we ordered some lemon pepper scallops that were outstanding and some crab wasabi bites that were tasty. Seemed to be only two people waiting on everyone and they did a wonderful job. I noticed the young male food runner help an elderly man get from the door to his seat.Parking: Parking is a gravel parking lot in back. Few spaces on side

Have lived on Hatteras Island since Irene. Had my 60th b-day today and celebrated at Pop's. Kind, attentive, efficient caring staff and excellent food. All of us enjoyed our crab cakes, fried oysters, fish and appetizers. Fantastic French Fries and hushpuppies as well. Great music too...so happy with my birthday choice...just a fun and delicious place to be. Thank you for making my 60 fun!!! I felt a little younger being there..

Don’t the exterior scare you away. Best seafood (shrimp, scallops and clam strips) we have had this year! Service was second to none.
Pop's is always great! Been a couple years since we had been down to Buxton but food is superb. The crab wasabi balls were a huge hit with our group. So much so someone suggested they make them a meal portion. I had the fried flounder and it was perfect. Breading was light and the fish was moist and tender. Service was good as well. The place is definitely a local or regular joint for a lot of folks as we came in at the tail end of lunch time and by the time we were done the place went from packed to empty. Server seemed to know folks as well.

Stopped in for a snack, got a great shrimp appetizer and drinks within 10 mins and soup and meals quickly after. Scallops and chowder great - paper plates expected and place was clean and service outstanding! Really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and great food!

Not pretty. A hole in the wall. BUT the food and drinks were fantastic. Place was super busy, and the service was super fast. Had my raw oysters and my wife had her steamed oysters. Good Gin and Tonic. Highly recommend this place in Buxton.

You can't tell a book by its cover. This is a great little place and with only two servers in a packed bar where you get excellent service. We got there and the place was packed. We were a party of 5 and the staff worked with us to get us quickly seated. My wife and I ordered the rockfish special which was perfect. Another in our party ordered the burger which he loved. Hush puppies and shrimp spring rolls were equally delicious. This is a bar, nothing special about the inside except that classic fun place atmosphere. If you haven't tried pops you should.

Always our go to. Love the tuna bites! Was there a week ago after a disappointing visit a few weeks prior. This visit will Probably keep us away for awhile; usual thick hand made burgers are now the typical frozen "hockey pucks ", tuna bites ordered blackened and rare ( 2 orders specified identically), both so overcooked could hardly choke them down . Took two visiting friends there after talking up how good the food is and then major embarrassment. Been in the food service industry for 50 years so I know a little about it. Get it together Pop's!!!
