My husband and I met friends there for heavy appetizers for dinner. We wound up ordering one appetizer which was very good and a “large plate” since we were hungry. The large plate consisted of a 2” square piece of lasagna which we intended to share! It was very good but certainly not worth the $26 price tag and we were still very hungry. Are you kidding me? Outrageous.
(The waiter was fantastic, very professional.)
We have been regulars but no more. We will look elsewhere.
This place is upscale (inside) with matching pricing ($$$) in a dilapidated town with a poor parking situation. I was really hoping it would be a hidden find. The chicken sandwiches and mini burgers were mediocre; I'm not sure why they asked how we wanted the mini burgers if they were going to cook them all the same way. The charcuterie board was delicious, but not worth the 2 hour drive. Maybe those with more refined palates would enjoy the other foods here. For a normal family this is a no-go and not worth the experience. Staff was very friendly and we love the living wage/no tipping policy. This actually made us want to tip more.
My son requested a stop at The Cheese Shop for his 16th birthday. We purposefully lined up a lunch date to coincide with going to the Cheese Shop, located inside Glasshalfull using the hours of operation on their website. These hours are NOT correct.

The food is outrageously overpriced for its quality and quantity. The food selection is very limited. It is not a place where I would return. Can't understand all the hurrahs.

We had a wonderful date night here. First of all, LOVE that they pay their folks a living wage! Taylor was our server, and was delightful -- we loved her recommendations, including the scallop croquettes (ommgggg SO good). We also scarfed down the delicious combination of a salad, brussels sprouts, and fries. And our Paper Plane cocktails were top notch. So glad to have this gem here in Carrboro!

My experience there tonight left me feeling half satisfied. The scallops were tender and properly cooked but seemed inconsistent with the menu description with very little of their sauce and none of the advertised prosciutto chips. The spices were a bit too strong for such a mild flavor as scallops. But the thing that bothers me the most is that the restaurant advertises on their menu that their prices are higher but the tip is included. Then at the end of the meal I was presented with an electronic pay system that asked for a tip. When I mentioned that to the waitress she said we could ignore it but it was there "in case" we wan'ted to leave just a little bit more as she watched to see what we did. Clearly this was done with the full support of the ownership as it was the typical pick the tip to automatically add. I felt this was a shakedown. Additionally the noise level is so high that it is very hard to hear across the table and to have an enjoyable night with friends. I have had better experience at Glasshalfull in the past with better service, better food and no shakedown at the end. I am inclined to explore other options in the future.

What happened to the food here? It used to be so good. Sliders for kids were verging on raw. The fries were weirdly soggy. Everything was over salted. It wasn’t the place I used to love. They’ve lost control of their food.

Shrimp Po Boy— 1 maybe 2 medium fried shrimp on a bulky roll with pink slaw. No side anything . Fifteen quid, Meh.
I like small elegant portions, but this was just A meh shrimp on a burger bun.
Partner had an $$$ ‘Flatbread’. It was a literally a cracker with a few interesting toppings.
No tips needed because of living wages (+++) but this does not preclude offering an enticing and tasty meal.
Been here ~20 times over the years… what happened?
