“To me, this is the most challenging restaurant in the Triangle. There are some things I truly love about it, and I picked it for my birthday dinner. I am still giving it five stars but it is sometimes quite frustrating. Tonight, I went for my birthday. Things started off a little challenged. They forgot to tell the waiter I was his table (he was apologetic). They never asked for a drink order (I was driving so not an issue, but it’s nice to be asked. I ordered the Wagyu special, that you cook on a rock. Actually reasonably priced for Wagyu and it was the promised quality. Unfortunately, I don’t know what to look at with the flame under the rock and the waiter hadn’t checked; it had gone out so my first two pieces of steak that I cooked were almost raw and cold, with only a tan on the outside (from when the rock was first lit before it went out). I finally realised what had happened but had to wait ten minutes until I could finally catch the waiter’s eye, it would have been nice if he checked how the $60 appetiser was going. He did fix it once I got him, and again the quality of the meat was excellent (cold wagyu is not, too fatty so not a tartare like experience). The avocado salad was good but not great, wasn’t as complex or flavourful as some avocado salads I’ve had at other Asian restaurants. The Iza Roll was excellent, nice presentation and tasty. Unfortunately, I had to wait about 30 mins for my sashimi omakase. This is the second time this has happened to me at Iza (I’ve ordered it three times); my guess is they have one sushi chef and he gets backed up but it really breaks the experience (this time at least I wasn’t with two people who were bored out of their skulls, I had my iPhone). When it arrived, it was great. I find their sashimi among the best I’ve had and reasonably priced. Still giving them five stars because the sashimi is so good (and the other food is also good) but eventually people are going to get fed up with these hiccups, especially as they expand the business.”

“The food here is exceptional. From cocktails to gelato, it was a feast for the senses! The overall vibe is oddly serene for such a busy place. And our server, Bella was top notch! The space might be small but the experience is grand! Favorite pizza in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area! 10/10 highly recommend!”

“My all-time favorite Mexican restaurant. I hear from a foodie friend that it is "Fresh Mex". The ingredients are really fresh, and it makes a huge difference. Staff is really, really great, including the folks who assemble the burritos (Eric and Nate, for example). A few parking spaces, and free parking on the street.

“Had the most amazing experience. It took me a few days to get around to writing this review. We visited on Saturday during lunchtime. The staff were welcoming and kind and patient, since I took forever deciding. Everyone appeared to be having fun. The food was delicious. I could eat the pierogis everyday. They were perfect. We also shared a slice of cheesecake, also made in house. It was amazing. We have definitely found a new favorite lunch spot in Carrboro and we can’t wait to try everything in the menu.”

“I love it here and enjoy all the seating and great beer selection. There is often good music playing. Friendly environment for children, as well. Good place for a date or playing games. I took a star off because the small patio is often overtaken by people smoking. It ruins the entire patio area. I have seen me and others flee when others light up. I wish this was a non smoking place!”

“Stopped here for dinner. Wonderful outdoor atmosphere. We travel a lot on the weekends with twin toddlers, this place was great for them. Short ride off I-40. Hands down the best cheeseburger I’ve had in a while. Terrific salads and don’t skip the Brussel Sprouts, they’re a treat!”

“As a Maryland native, I appreciate a good snowball. This place has such a great variety that we've been back many times and it never gets old. The friendly staff take great care in crafting each snowball - moreso than any Maryland snowball stand I've been to. And I love that they repurposed an old bank to sell snowballs!”

“I just picked up a little breakfast for a graduation gathering. Mini sweet potato biscuits and pastrami and pimento cheese. All were excellent, as usual! The out of town guests asked where this was from and plan to swing by on their way out of town if possible. The graduate asked if the pastrami could be part of her gift. “Great spot to play vintage games and have some cocktails. Games only take tokens and they do have a tendency to eat a few tokens but it's fun anyway. Somehow, I managed to lose my lucky £2 coin in a machine. Not even sure how it fit in there. I will definitely go back. “It takes a gratuitous dollop of awesome for our family to all equally enjoy a dining experience, but here we are after eating for the first time at Grata Diner in Carrboro (in Carr Mill Mall.) Not only is the ambiance phenomenal with the option of airy patio dining or comfortable indoor booths surrounded by large windows and high ceilings, but the huge portions of food (enough to completely stuff our bottomless pit of a 17-year-old) came out lightening fast and were piping hot, fresh, and delicious. But, I still haven't gotten to the best part, which was the extensive gluten-free options on the menu. We're not just talking gluten-free substitutes, but breads/waffles/fried chicken all made to perfection with gluten-free flour and doughs. Our family (which has two gluten-free members) thought we'd died and gone to Heaven. That said, all the other items had even the gluten tolerant among us licking our plates. That's not hyperbole: we literally licked our plates. As if all of that wasn't reason enough to make this our go-to family outing spot, the reasonable prices (especially for locally-sourced ingredients) sealed the deal. We're so excited to go back and try their new dinner menu!”

“Guy Fieri should put this place on Diners Drive-Ins & Dives. Don't let the strip mall storefront fool you. Nor the kids working the counter. I am an Italian & ex-patriot Brooklyn native & this is the closest thing to my Grandmother's Sunday dinner that I have ever found in North Carolina. The house salad was all romaine no iceburg. The balsamic vinaigrette tasted homemade. There were even artichoke hearts in it. The mozzarella seemed to be hand breaded. The marinara tasted like it had been on slow cook since dawn. The garlic knots were very real. The penne was al dente & they seemed to give me a whole box of it. There was fresh shaved romano & fresh basil on top. It was like going back in time to the old neighborhood. My Southern wife special ordered the cheese lasagna with pesto & they even accommodated that unusual request. We did not have the pizza but for an authentic Sunday dinner it's the real thing. I wish they were not sold out of tiramisu I'm sure it's great too. If eggplant parmesan was on the menu it would be even better. The portions were so big we took half of it home in a box. Fresh sunflowers on the outdoor tables a very nice touch too. MOLTO BENNE!”
