“We discovered this place a few months ago. What a great find! We have tried the papusas, tacos, burritos, beef short rib soup, and even a chocolate cake. Everything is excellent. The Short rib soup was amazing, and the choc cake was one of the best we’ve had.”

“Great atmosphere with outdoor seating, the interior has a wonderful old time feel to it. The servers all check on you, but on busy days you may have to flag them down and they will attend your needs right away. The food is great too. They rotate different breweries around the country and we had some brews from Hawaii and another location, they were very good. Definitely stop by if you’re in town. Ohio State Buckeyes are definitely welcome.”

“My g'ness!! Pork chop dinner (singular, but really two meals worth!) was awesome... best turnip greens I've EVER had - including (gulp!) from my Kentucky and Mississippi grandmothers. The staff couldn't be friendlier, the menu is classic roadhouse and they deliver at every opportunity!”

“The brisket was tender & had a little bit of a smoky flavor & a very faint to non-existing smoke ring. It seemed like the brisket was lightly barbecued then steamed(imo). I prefer brisket w/a definite smoke ring & a crispy barbecued bark on it. Hush puppies, mac & cheese were very tasty. Coleslaw was ok.”

“First off, the food here is incredible, with a number of pasta options and additional entrees. We thought the half-portions were plenty, and brought some leftovers home. The salads are great as well. Our service was a bit ... confusing. Olga was great, but we had a couple of other wait staff involved with our table of four, including one who was a bit crabby. The hostess, whose name I did not get, was also very nice. The building is historic, as is most of Hillsborough, and there is a choice of inside or outside seating.”

“Jay's chicken is slapping, smacking, banging (aka amazing), and/ or whatever you want to call this DELICIOUSNESS! ?I live in Brier Creek, Raleigh, and I have passed this place over a dozen times heading back and forth to my father's house in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA, and I finally had to stop..I was starving, had a craving for chicken, and it was a packed house, so that alone tells me there's gotta be something special there!Wooow!!!! This was the literally the best fried chicken I ever had and that says A LOT ming from someone who worked as a cook and Su-Chef for close to 15 years (I'm even writing my own cookbook right now).I slso used to manage a Bojangles close to 20 years ago, and I thought they had good chicken and biscuits, but now I'm thinking to myself... Bojangles, who?!?! Lol! ?Not only did I get an 8 piece (which was massive), but I also bought mashed potatoes, collards, and green beans! My wife doesn't eat pork due to religious reasons (I still do, lol), and they don't out pork in anything, and guess what?!? It still tastes like they put the ham hocks in there, lol!The food, staff, cooks, and customer service were impeccable!The best part is that they serve some of my other favorite dishes such as livers, gizzards, fried catfish, etc. and please don't hate fpr it but I'm from NY. NY ain't got nuttin on Jay's, my fellow Carolinians!If you haven't been, you're doing yourself and your palate an injustice! Crazily enough, my wife and I looked at each other and said, "As long as Jay's is open, we are driving 45+ min. just for chicken n' fixins!!! Lol ?My tastebuds are still dancing, just thinking about going back to get some more!Please make sure you tip these folks handsomely as they deserve every penny!Thank you, Jay's team!!!”

“The food was really good but service was slow and it is extremely over priced. A corona has $6. We ordered 3 not realizing the price. Our meal came out to $73 for two people. All in all I would come back but would order water and maybe split a meal with my husband.”

“Excellent Neapolitan style pizza. Good sauce and quality toppings. Crust is perfect: thin, slightly charred, flavorful. Possibly not quite as good as Napoli in Carrboro, but that's a very high bar. Still very good pizza at a good price. We will definitely return.Parking: Gravel lot across the street.”

“This is THE BEST Mexican place within hundreds of miles. The food is ALWAYS so delicious. The menu is always great. The tacos are a delight, the burritos are on point. The weekends they do Aguachile; it is phenomenal! This is one of the three dishes we had on Saturday. We also had their mixed fajitas, and they were perfectly seasoned. Let’s talk about their tortillas, soft and delicious. They have a great selection of beverages from horchata to beers to fresh coconut water. Their deserts are even solid. Basically this is a MUST GO spot in the triangle. It is the best Mexican food you will have in the state. That’s not an exaggeration. I am someone who loves food; and regularly enjoys going out to eat as well as cooking. I love this spot and I will go after hikes as often I can. I hope they continue to do well and expand!”
