Ate here several times 4-5 years ago, went back again today and it was as good as ever. Wide variety of items on the menu so I can always try something new and unusual if I want. Server was excellent at answering questions about the various dishes.

This restaurant offers subpar service, despite the quality of its food. Similar quality food can be found elsewhere at similar price point. If you are craving Sichuan cuisine and there are no nearby options, and you are willing to wait an extended period (sometimes up to an hour), then this restaurant may be worth trying.

I go here every time I’m in Carrboro. Go with a group and share everything family style. Is it haunted? Yes! Is it delicious? Yes! I love it there

I was disappointed. The reviews tend to be so positive. But my meal was really greasy. Every item. And the grease didn’t exactly taste fresh. I was really expecting something good. Don’t think I’ll order from them again, sadly.

Really bad service. Food sucks. A lot of dishes on menu are not available for sale

Update March 2025: I hadn’t been here in a long time and hoped that the recent reviews were wrong but my order tonight was terrible. General Tsos was sub-par. The gravy for the fried noodle was odd tasting and the spring rolls were soaked with oil— so much that each one soaked though 4 napkins. I will not be going back 🤦

We've been to China several times (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Beijing) and have a sense of authentic Chinese cuisine. You just don't find a "real" Chinese restaurant in a State like North Carolina. We just don't have the immigration which would bring that. At least that is what I thought. Gourmet Kingdom is the real thing. Great Chinese not American Chinese (with all its brown and white sauces). The menu is quite large and includes a lot of items most Americans would not try. While the ambience is quite stark with cement floors and very little "soft" furnishings, the food is precisely what it is supposed to be. The service is very Chinese - you get it when it is ready and not necessarily all at ones. This is something Americans are not quite accustomed to. But if you like authentic Chinese this is THE PLACE to come. It's worth driving some distance to experience this.

This is definitely the BEST Chinese/Szeuchan food in NC! It was SO good! The restaurant itself was in a bit of a tough shape, but the food was absolutely amazing and the service was super speedy and incredibly friendly. The ingredients were extremely fresh too! We ordered the Salt and Pepper Shrimp and the Pan fried pork dumplings! The shrimp in our dish was literally caught just earlier in the morning and the vegetables and pork was farm fresh. Expertly made Chinese food. (We recommend the dinner menu!)

Food was undercooked and barely edible. Ended up throwing most of it away. Will not return.
