We had a great dinner at Hanks with a few minor critiques. We ordered burrata, oysters, fried chicken, steak and pana cotta. The burrata itself was good but there is no reason to cover it in nuts and dried fruit. Burrata is amazing on its own with just some balsamic and olive oil with some bread. There is no need to cover it in chewy nuts that get stuck in your teeth. The Panacotta was the same way, covered in nuts and dried fruit. Panacotta is amazing on it's own. There is no need to smother it with nuts again. The oysters were out of this world fresh and not chewy at all! The fried chicken was enough for a family but delicious!

We were looking forward to Thanksgiving at Hanks, in fact they called to confirm our reservation. Then a few hours later, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they notify us they aren’t going to be open.
We put our names on the list at 6:45pm and were told that there would be a 1.5hr wait. We were fine with this and put our names on the list. Text message confirming this time stamped 6:49pm. At 8:01pm, we received a text that we would no longer be seated, with no explanation. This has never happened before and was extremely weird and off-putting. Came to the restaurant to see what the problem was a was told we would get sat. Confusing, ended up going next door due to the weirdness and selectiveness of it all, and because it was 8:30pm at that point.

My wife is gluten intolerant, so she was excited about the gluten-free fried chicken. It was decent, but drowned in honey, then buried under a mountain of average fries and asparagus?
Maybe showcase the chicken? Service was fantastic.

Good food with a limited menu. Close parking is hard to find on the weekend and the atmosphere was average. The service was excellent.

dinner at Hanks was fabulous. We ordered the ribeye steak which was charred and exquisitely prepared. The no-meat lasagna was amazing, although we prefer meat sauce, they pulled it off with mushrooms. You will not regret ordering this delicious plate. Lastly, the duck noodles were incredibly authentic and delicious. We will definitely return for dinner on our next visit to see our daughter in Raleigh.

My review was read before we left. Turns out the guy I thought was the manager, is actually the chef, Evan, who also happens to be the person who made the amazing hummus! He came back out to speak to us, swapped out my beer for one I liked, and we had a lovely conversation. At the end of the day, human interaction and open communication won! If we find ourselves back in Cary, we will definitely give this place another try.
Lovely place. Came here because of the namesake of our recently deceased dog. Manager unprofessional. Service was friendly but didn’t listen. My daughter went next door and bought a gelato to eat while I had a beer and app. (The butter bean hummus is amazing btw). I asked to try a beer and the server brought me a pint. Manager approached table from behind me in a very friendly fashion, when I turned to respond to him, I saw a man in jeans and a long sleeve graphic tee who said we couldn’t have outside food but don’t do it again. If there was a sign we didn’t see it. So I paid for a ho-hum beer, amazing hummus, and an experience we won’t risk again. The servers and staff are more professional than the manager. We had lots of time to kill and would’ve stayed much longer to enjoy the outdoor seating, but felt completely uncomfortable and embarrassed after the manager experience.

Great ambiance and vibe and lived the service at the bar. We tried several popular drinks and loved them all. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy--big portions and fries--and my wife raved about the lasagna. The real winner was some puft pastry bread thing w Indian curry spices or something...wow that was a tasty treat to start. We'll be back for sure...this was our 2nd time (we went last year visiting from our home in Austin, and now we live much closer in Richmond). 5 stars.

Ended up here with a large party celebrating a work dinner. Ordered a Negroni, and other members of my team ordered various other cocktails. The Negroni was spot on! We ordered various dinner items from the sample menu for sharing. Also ordered one or two individual items. It was great being able to sample a variety of different kinds of food. The waitress and bartender were very attentive. The food was very tasty. Overall we had a great night and good conversation, good food and good drinks. What could you ask for more?
