Tried Hanks for the first time and was so impressed! The food was amazing and our server Michael was fantastic. He was super attentive and took the time to explain the menu and helped clarify any menu items that had gluten. The restaurant is very friendly for folks who can't have gluten and the atmosphere was nice for a date night. Highly recommend!

Had a reservation at 7, table wasn’t ready when we arrived. Finally after seating, waitress was great, very personable, and on top of it. We ordered the Tilefish, 2 fried chicken dinners and a hangar steak. Olives, Hummus, Heirlooms to start. 4 people a total of 9 alcoholic beverages during our dinner. Chicken was rather dry, we did ask for the sauce on the side to be fair. Tilefish was average at best . Snacks were nothing to brag about. The best part of the entire meal were the heirlooms snack. The Host was very “ready” for us to leave after we finished our food. The drinks were fabulous by the way. The waitress understood we were visiting and finishing our drinks..the meal was paid for at a pretty penny to say the least. She left us alone. It was 8:30 and we were basically forced to leave. We had been occupying a table for 1 hour and 30 minutes. We were approached by the host 3 different times. It was apparent that we had overstayed our welcome. There’s not any other way to put it, it was downright rude. There was not a wait when we left, not sure what the rush was since others at the restaurant were just drinking at a table? Not sure we will return to Hank’s as Cary has several restaurants that will allow a pleasant meal, visiting with friends without the feeling of being a bother.

My wife and I finally got the chance to try Hanks in downtown Cary and I'm kicking myself for waiting this long. I'll start with the food. It's absolutely amazing. The presentation is what you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant and the flavors on each dish had me mind blown. The ceviche is the best I've ever had. Fresh ingredients that burst with enjoyment with each bite. We also got roasted oysters in kimchi sauce, chicken wings with a gojuchang (red pepper paste) sauce, Elotedilla, and a side of fries (ask for the hot honey sauce). We ate every bite.
The service was impeccable. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcomed. We sat at the bar with John who not only took great care of us but also took his time to really navigate our experience with drinks and food. John's bar skills are truly unmatched. Coming from someone who has bartended for 15 years...John is a bartender's bartender. My wife got two drinks during our visit and said they both made her feel like she was back on a cruise sailing to a vacation destination. His drinks are perfect, his conversation is therapeutic, and you genuinely leave feeling like he cared about your experience. Danny was expo and was also interactive with us making sure our dishes came out correctly, clearing dishes that have been finished for new ones. Danny coursed out our dishes so that we got our food in waves. The other service staff were attentive and also helped our dining experience even though we weren't their guests. One waitress was kind enough to replace my napkins multiple times throughout my time at Hanks...(chicken wings are so good I made a mess).
I can't say enough good things about this place and it's somewhere I plan to become a regular at.

After a long wait, I finally had a very good whiskey sour. I then ordered the next one, an old-fashioned. However, I noticed that they had run out of cherries. Instead of admitting the mistake, the bartender simply poured in some juice, making it excessively sweet. I had no expectations, but after paying my bill, I politely informed him that the whiskey sour was good, but the old-fashioned was too sweet. Instead of taking my comment, he responded with a dismissive remark, “SAME BILL FOR EVERYONE” This was an awful comment to pass on to a customer. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Spectacular is not good enough, four of us ordered the beets, elotedia, fried chicken and hanger steak. Nothing disappointed, the fried green beans were the eclectic surprise, but everything was awesome. Brittany did a fabulous job, perfectly attentive but not over bearing. Will dine here again!

All the food was amazing. We order two apps and two entrees, shared with four of us, plenty of food.

Wonderful spot featuring delicious unique takes on approachable dishes. You can tell they care about their food and our service at the bar was exceptional. Our server/bartender John was able to answer questions and made great recommendations.

Went there last night with a party of six. The food was delicious, but the service was absolutely outstanding! We sat outside and Michael, our sever, kept us up to date on potential weather, offers excellent recommendations and was so attentive. He exceeded our expectations

Food, great! (Fried chicken, broccoli soup, lasagna)
Service, ok. Front staff, great. Server was nice but slow.
Atmosphere nice but the chairs have no padding and very uncomfortable to enjoy a nice dinner.

It is so cute (not at all a dive) inside! They are very knowledgeable about gluten and have many options. The fried chicken was delicious and I really liked the fries. They also have fun cocktails, and my friends enjoyed their meals as well.

We met some friends for drinks and appetizers. My $16 glass of wine was good. My $7 french fries were tasty and crisp. My $0.50 ketchup was a ridiculous charge and a great way to prevent a return visit. REALLY????? A charge for 1 tablespoon of ketchup! EPIC FAIL.

We had a great dinner at Hanks with a few minor critiques. We ordered burrata, oysters, fried chicken, steak and pana cotta. The burrata itself was good but there is no reason to cover it in nuts and dried fruit. Burrata is amazing on its own with just some balsamic and olive oil with some bread. There is no need to cover it in chewy nuts that get stuck in your teeth. The Panacotta was the same way, covered in nuts and dried fruit. Panacotta is amazing on it's own. There is no need to smother it with nuts again. The oysters were out of this world fresh and not chewy at all! The fried chicken was enough for a family but delicious!

We were looking forward to Thanksgiving at Hanks, in fact they called to confirm our reservation. Then a few hours later, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they notify us they aren’t going to be open.
We put our names on the list at 6:45pm and were told that there would be a 1.5hr wait. We were fine with this and put our names on the list. Text message confirming this time stamped 6:49pm. At 8:01pm, we received a text that we would no longer be seated, with no explanation. This has never happened before and was extremely weird and off-putting. Came to the restaurant to see what the problem was a was told we would get sat. Confusing, ended up going next door due to the weirdness and selectiveness of it all, and because it was 8:30pm at that point.
