Classic, authentic burgers are so delicious! I like how substantial they are. The fries are great, too. The service is friendly, too. Let's enjoy sitting outside!
Love the Kenny J Burger!
Really good burgers! Whenever I am around Chapel Hill I go for Al’s burgers! I tried their seans bacon cheeseburger and the classic! It was really great! Very filling! Prices a bit step but that may be cause of location and quality! I will be coming back tho!
Super salty burger and or bacon but balanced it out with yummy tater tots. It auto tipped $5 for some reason. Good root beer but $25 for a burger tots and root beer was a bit much.
Great burgers. The fries are pretty good. They season with rosemary I think. Good for one time but next time I would leave it off as it is a bit overpowering.

I have lived in Chapel Hill for most of my life and have known about this place, but we never visited, but now that we have tried their burgers, we will most definitely be eating there more often.
The burgers tasted delicious, and we also got some fries. Their sweet potato fries were my favorite. the staff were working hard and they were very nice too. It's a nice place to get a nice burger.

Potentially one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I visited from Liverpool, UK just over a year ago. I’m still craving an Al’s burger from across the Atlantic. Definitely recommend.

We were in town and thrilled to be able to go to eat at what used to be one of our favorite places. Now it is a mere shadow of what used to be a great burger place. We dined there last week and the food quality was poor, the staff was indifferent (and they used to be energized and happy) and could not or would not answer our queries.
Finally a manager was brought in (though we had to wait quite a while before he would come out of the back) who in response to our questions let us know that none of the food is sourced locally anymore, and everything, even the meat, comes from U.S. Foods (which is one of the lowest common denominator food sources anywhere).
When this place opened it won awards and had local beef and locally made hot dogs. In 2018 it won best burger place in America.
Now it has generic food out of a box with grade c fries and tater tots that won't stay crisp and taste off-brand, barely edible meat, and a food quality no better than the lowest quality generic diners. A dreadful value for the gourmet prices it still charges. Nothing was like what it was several years ago. No more.

Walked here after getting a cut. I'd heard how great they were and my barber said hands down, go here. I wasn't disappointed. I'm a huge burger guy. I got the Molly with an extra patty, fries, and sweet potato fries. This was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time, and their sides were great, too. I inhaled everything. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be back.

Burgers are tasty, but seem like they've been getting smaller over the years. So keep that in mind if you're extra hungry!
Okay, I LOVE Al’s. They’re one of the best burgers in town, if not the best. I’ve been multiple times and they never let me down.
This time I ordered the Mookie, Bobo Chili Cheeseburger, and the Kaarin with a Southwest Black Bean patty. All three were absolutely fantastic, and the Kaarin is such a good vegan option. They also use potato buns which are objectively the best type!!
The sweet potato fries are covered in some cinnamon sugar which puts it over the top. The crinkle cut fries are always wonderfully crispy as well!
Al’s food and ambience make it a perfect spot to hang out or just enjoy a burger. If you’re looking for unique and delicious burgers, check them out!
