We decided to go to Crossroads for our anniversary dinner. The food and service was excellent. The red snapper and she crab soup was a hit. The seasonal grilled peach and bourbon ice cream was outstanding. We had a wonderful dinner. Highly recommend.
If you’re familiar with the Sunday brunch Crossroads served years ago that was fabulous, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Nothing out of the ordinary offered here - egg, bacon, lumpy grits, some basic salads, breads, and dessert. Gone are the carving stations, the unique and superbly delicious desserts, the innovative side items, the fabulous salads. In addition, the food ranges from ok - bad. After the second year of this we’ll be moving our annual family brunch elsewhere.
The experience here was fantastic! Such a classic location and the food is so good!
All of the hospitality and charm of Chapel Hill come together in this restaurant on the beautiful Carolina Inn property. It’s casual, yet sophisticated. If you’re new to Chapel Hill, and perhaps visiting your student, make sure you dine at crossroads and try some of the south’s delicacies including the pimento cheese and deviled eggs. You will not be disappointed!
If you are not staying at the hotel, don't bother. Mediocre food. Slow service.
I love this place. Reservation recommended.
We had a nice dinner with attentive service in attractive surroundings. The She Crab Soup was delicious, however the filet proved to be tough. All in all it was a good meal.
It was really pretty, paid $40 pp for the brunch buffet. It would’ve been worth it if we felt like the items available were good. Waffles were hard as a rock, I think they sat underneath the heat lamp too long. A lot of the baked goods were hard and dry, it wasn’t easy to get a moist muffin. I ordered 2 mimosas and definitely did not expected them to cost $16 each, they were in the tiniest glass. Also it took forever for someone to greet us, the hostess was a mess. I probably sound picky but I swear I’m not, it was my first time here and we spent $140 for that. I left feeling horrible that I just dropped that much money and was left unsatisfied. I wouldn’t go back nor would I recommend.
Wonderful and tasty Sunday brunches buffet. This is our favorite for Sunday brunches but especially during the holidays with decorations and additional breakfast and treats, must try if you are visiting Chapel Hill.
I recently stayed at the Carolina Inn for work and had the opportunity to dine at their on-site restaurant, Crossroads. Upon arriving late at 7:45 PM, the front desk staff informed me that the restaurant was open until 9 PM, with room service available until 10 PM.
First impressions were disappointing. The front desk staff and the restaurant's host both lacked the customer service skills expected of a high-caliber, expensive hotel. The restaurant host appeared overwhelmed, simultaneously managing phone calls and my order without clear communication. This indicated a need for better training to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
I placed a to-go order for the vegetarian slider and the pimento mac and cheese. The host didn't inform me of the wait time, and I had to ask twice. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. When I received my bag, it lacked ketchup for the sliders. When I requested some, the host sighed, saying it was already in the bag—which it was not. She eventually retrieved it but I could tell that my request was an inconvenience. During this time the restaurant was virtually empty, with no other guests or ringing phones at this point, making her behavior even more perplexing. While I understand the pressures of being a host, better customer service is expected, especially given the hotel's standing and pricing.
Back in my room, the vegetarian slider was dry and lacking in flavor. The pimento mac and cheese was mediocre at best. Surprisingly, the highlight of my dining experience was the complimentary cookie from the front desk.
Overall, the experience at Crossroads was underwhelming, with poor customer service and subpar food quality. Management should invest in staff training to elevate the dining experience to match the hotel's prestigious reputation.

If you come for the burger avoid Wednesday nights. I came last Friday and it was perfect so decided to return last night - big mistake. It’s like they ran out of meat so put half a pattie on that they burned on one side. Awful. Still cost me $25 but I’ll never return on a Wednesday. Funniest part of it was that they were empty last night compared to Friday which was jammed. No excuses for poor quality on an empty night. Now we know…

A decent brunch, but kind of expensive at $30 a person. I also thought it was a little ridiculous to require a 20% gratuity payment for a buffet. The server brought us water and coffee and took away our plates and that was it. I probably would have added on a similar tip anyway but it seems wrong to add it to the bill automatically for a party of three people.

We recently celebrated a graduation here with drinks and bar fare. The restaurant -inside The Carolina Inn-is beautiful and the wait staff friendly, knowledgeable and gracious. But the food was the real star. The table shared spinach and sweet pea dip, fried shrimp with slices of fried lemon and an excellent pimento cheese spread and could.not decide which dish was best. I also loved my chickpea sliders and sweet potato fries.
Vegetarian options: Salads, veggie burgers, hummus and more
Parking: As the restaurant is inside a hotel, parking is challenging. Hotel guests get first crack at parking spots. I was told the lot was full and was directed to park at the downtown parking garage by Target. It cost me $3 but it was a fairly short and easy walk-just a few blocks.

We live in Chapel Hill, and various members of our family have been dining at the Carolina Inn since the late 1950s. It has often been the place for special outings for us. But we recently returned for the first time in several years for what we hoped would be an elegant and satisfying dinner with visiting out-of-town guests and were deeply disappointed.Service was slow and felt rote and unenthusiastic. Drinks were fine, but all of the food was really minimal for what we paid. There was *nothing* about any of it that we could not easily recreate at home for far less $, and the entrees deserve special mention for how small and unimaginative they were. FIFTY DOLLARS for an overcooked end piece of salmon and a quarter-cup of what seemed like canned white beans? The entire meal cost nearly $350 for four people and would have been too expensive at $100.We didn't raise a fuss at the time as we did not want to make a scene in front of our guests, but when we complained to the manager the next day, our message was met with skepticism. That said, the manager DID agree to refund the dinner, so we are pleased with the customer service in the end. Still, this seems like a sad state for a venerable Chapel Hill institution.
