I'll put these steaks against the steaks of any so called 5 star steakhouse. Great food, service, and reasonable prices.

We went last night and really enjoyed it. You obviously have to like steak to go there, we do, It's great going to a restaurant and having a unique experience. They are a great example of what I have always felt a restaurant should do. They stay in their lane by only doing a couple of things, but knocking them out of the park. No pasta, no extensive appetizer selection, just one chicken dish, one tuna selection and a pork chop. Even the wines are afterthoughts at $25-$35/bottle. You get the best steak and potato dinner for the price, extremely friendly service up front and at the table, all in a space that feels like it's been there forever and operated like a well oiled machine. Amy, the current owner, told us that it has been family run since 1969. And it is remarkable given how busy they get, that the kitchen is staffed by a single cook ( currently in his 13th year. ) The "staying in their lane" aspect lets them run a very efficient operation.

If you’re from Chapel Hill then you already know of the Farm House restaurant! Our first date (back in 2019) was here and we went there today to celebrate our 5 years together! The crudite platter is perfect for nibbling while sipping on a cold beer. Our ribeyes were cooked just like we asked and our waitress took good care of us! Thankfully we arrived right before the crowd hit.

Loved this place. Very rustic and out of the way, but awesome experience. Took me back to another time when dining was an event.

Very unique experience, love the rustic interior of the restaurant. We also were very lucky and were seated right next to the fire place to increase the ambious.Food was cooked to perfection and the cheese plate was an added bonus. No restaurants do this now.Really enjoyed our visit.

Potato's had bits of tin foil in it, steak was fine but very average. Probably won't return just because it's not worth the drive in comparison to other steakhouses. Waitress was great

Nothing to write home about. Why would they ask how you want your steak cooked and then not get them right? One ribeye was woefully undercooked and a strip was way overcooked. The other two were cooked as ordered I suppose including my own but it lacked flavour.Service was a bit salty. Can't see us returning.

Went here for a work dinner in December 2023. Instead of catering they had us pick of the regular menu, which, if you’ve ever worked events, you know is not a good idea. Hoping they were just really good with their kitchen setup, I ordered a ribeye and potato and standard side salad. Unfortunately, for $30+ my ribeye was small, full of gristle, not a great cut of meat, and the potato was dry and (old maybe?) side salad was ok, not bad but not super fresh either. As others have noted, food was pretty flavorless (except salty) and salad looked straight out of a bag with the croutons, fake bacon bits and no other veggies, not even a cucumber or tomato present. Also, I could not get a refill on water or anything from my waitress for the whole hour and a half I was there -which was a problem due to the dry food. I thought maybe it was just me, but several other people who ordered similar were left unimpressed and a few coworkers who’d been there before said that it’s always been subpar. Maybe we picked a bad night? Either way I can’t understand the other glowing reviews based on my experience. For reference a coworker told me to get some steaks on sale at Walmart and they’d taste better and be a better cut of meat. So I did. Much more flavorful, better cut of same cut meat (ribeye), & 3 for $30 vs. Farmhouse $35+ for 1. Now it’s bad when Walmart meat is better!

We stumbled upon the Farmhouse Restaurant after attending an event in Hillsborough. I had passed the sign numerous times going to a meeting in Hillsborough--but that meeting is always on Mondays, when the restaurant is closed. The parking lot was nearly full, but there were plenty of tables available in the restaurant tonight. We were seated right away and given our choice of tables. The service was friendly and efficient. Our server brought our drink orders and the complimentary relish plate, consisting of pickles, carrots, celery, a radish, and small servings of a liver pâté and cheddar cheese spread. I liked the cheese better than the pâté. Our server answered our questions about the menu. I had the beef tips and my husband had the strip steak. The main courses come with a baked potato and a salad. The salad had iceberg lettuce, cucumber, croutons, and onion. I asked for mine without the onion. I'm glad I'm not allergic to onion, because it tasted like they simply removed the onion from a premade salad. The dressings were served on the side. Our server also brought us a small dish of bacon bits for our salads. Real bacon crumbles would be better. The beef tips were good but not exactly what I was expecting. They were several thin slices of steak, each one three or four bites. They came on a sizzling platter with sauteed green bell pepper strips and a baked potato. The strip steak was more substantial. Both came with a triangle of Texas toast that did not have much flavor. The server brought dishes of butter and sour cream for the baked potatoes We were too full to enjoy dessert. I found out the only one made in-house is the Farmhouse pie--a pecan shortbread crust with layer made with cream cheese topped with vanilla pudding, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream. They purchase their other desserts from vendors. The ambience is a throw-back to the early 1970s. (The server told us the restaurant has been there since 1969.) It's dark and rustic, with each table having an oil lamp for illumination. I definitely needed my reading glasses for the menu. The walls are decorated with old farm equipment. We sat near a fireplace with gas logs. The tables have mismatched chairs around them, some more comfortable than others. Now that we have experienced eating here, we will be back when we are in the area on a night they're are open.
