I ordered takeout once from here, and can truthfully say I will never consider going here again. I was the only customer in the restaurant when I came to pick up the food. They proceeded to overcharge me for my order of mutter paneer and two orders of garlic bread. On top of that, their takeout portions were very small, and the mutter was bland. In general it was some of the worst Indian food I've had. Mint is right next door, go there if you're feeling Indian.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. We came in to order some samosas and kulfi to go. From the minute we walked in, the waitress was giving us judgemental looks. We ordered and after taking our money, handed us Drumstick ice cream claiming it was kulfi. She was incredibly rude the entire time, and honestly intimidated me enough to where I didn't want to confront her directly about the fact that she literally duped us. We got lied to and ripped off. What's worse than paying $4 for a Drumstick is being flat out lied to. This says a lot about the integrity of the business. Please don't give this place your business.

Mint, my general go-to Indian restaurant, has declined in quality over the past several months so I ventured into Guru which is a door or two away from Mint. Yikes...Mint on a bad day is still significantly better than this place. The buffet was so disappointing that I don't ever see my self giving this place a second chance when there is Vimala, Cholonad, and Mint in the nearby area. This is a distant 4th when placed in that group of restaurants.

One of the worst Indian restaurants that I have been to. First of all, the online menu prices are not updated to reflect their "updated menu with updated pricing" at the restaurant. I got takeout, and when it was time to pay, I was set back an extra $10 easily before tax. All of the prices are at least $2-3 more than stated online. Aside from the price (which I can tolerate and am ready to pay if the quality of the food is decent), the food was incredibly disappointing. I got the "Tandoori paneer tikka" which was absolutely disgusting. It was literally uncooked onions, bell peppers, and chunks of deep fried paneer. It was definitely not tandoori, nor was it marinated in any spices. There was no way I could eat it by itself. I also got the shahi paneer korma with garlic naan. The garlic naan was okay, but the shahi paneer korma was tomato ketchup and added sugar with paneer. The description they provided and the food they gave were two different things. This place does not do justice to Indian food. If you want real Indian food, go somewhere else because it is WAY TOO overpriced and it is far from what Indian food should taste.

Amazing food, and it felt like Home! It's the perfect warm and cozy Indian restaurant ! Highly suggest checking out. Samosa and chai were amazing and the food was fresh and streaming hot 👌🏻

Food is fair at best. Cold and flavorless Restaurant is outdated, management doesn't seem to know what they are doing. They got upset about us asking to split checks for party of four!

I love this place! I've tried other Indian restaurants nearby, but this is my favorite. I usually order the mixed vegetables and garlic naan 😋 the service is always welcoming and super quick.

Great food! Went with a friend of mine who is from the same region as the shop owner and she verified the authenticity of the food. This is not the Americanized version of Indian cuisine- it's the real deal!

We had a delicious meal. Veggie korma, shrimp currry, saag paneer, a tandoor with veggies, veggie pakoras, samosas, and garlic naan. And condiment tray. Indian beer and mango lassi.

Nice Indian restaurant seems most popular for carry out. Good selection of Indian beers, not a huge selection of domestic beer. Staff was friendly. Nice selection of vegetarian options available.

I love this place! I usually order the mixed vegetables and they're always on point. I usually feel like my Indian grandma cooked for me. I tried the same dish next door and I didn't like it. The portions are on the small side tho if you have a big appetite.

I really wanted to like this little spot. I did. And I just couldn't. Being fairly new to the area, we have been on the search for a good Indian Buffet, like my beloved Nirlep in Charleston, SC. Alas, Guru just ain't it. While it was tidy, it was empty...which is a telltale sign. We got the buffet, because duh. Just not on point, with the exception of the samosas - they were nice and tasted fresh. But everything else we tried: sag paneer, curry chicken, tandoori chicken, tika masala - all of it was just under-seasoned and watery, really really lackluster. So it was a real disappointment, especially with the very sweet proprietors providing service in the dining room. They seemed like very nice people. The food was just very uninspired. I'm sure it's a fine line to walk, adjusting some foods to a Western palette, but I think this place has gone too far into the bland. Maybe that's the problem? I'd gladly return, if they would hit us with some real flavor and fragrance like some of the nearby Asian Szechuan restaurants do. Two stars because the space was clean and inviting.

I've re-discovered Indian food after a hiatus and I'm loving it! And I'm pretty smitten with this little establishment. It lacks flash and style but it doesn't really need it with the food being as good as it is. I'm a regular consumer and have eaten off the buffet and menu and have enjoyed both. The buffet is smaller than most places which fits with the size of the place but it has many of the bases covered with plenty of vegetarian and meat options. Somasas, Pakuras, Aloo saag, Saag Paneer, mixed vegetable, nav rataan korma, chicken tikka masala, jalfrezi, curry, aromatic rice etc. the names were all abbreviated so I wasn't entirely clear what each was so I may be off a bit. That could improve. I do wish they had riata at the buffet and make a tandoori dish though I imagine skewered meats would dry out quickly. Maybe a dessert? They are offered on the menu though. Complimentary naan is brought out though. The buffet is the way to go economically since it's the same price as an entree. I ordered a Diet Coke but I wish they did refills here since it's $2 for a cup. The buffet is open until 3:00 which is nice but of course food gets changed out less frequently then. About 2:55 the music stops and business shuts down. Super fast for lunch unless you're like me and make multiple trips to the buffet and try everything. They have wine and beer for libations though not huge, is fine if you'd like something stronger with your meal. My favorite is the saag paneer which is probably the most calorie laden food you can get but worth it. And the ever present tikka masala is my second. I didn't care for the biriyani which tastes like a traditional curry because even though I love Indian food, this taste is just too overpowering for me. I'd probably pass on the nav rattan korma too. Nothing wrong with these dishes just not for me. I had both of these off the menu which is risky because that's your dish whereas a buffet lets you try risk free, though they don't usually serve biriyani at the buffet. Nice owner/manager who was friendly and welcoming. I'm a fan!

SO DISAPPOINTING! This is what I imagine Indian food would taste like when cooked in China. Tandoori chicken was in a wet dish with onion like a Chinese dish. No flavor. Dahl was even more tasteless and that was quite an effort! Also they were about 40 minutes late on a takeout order, but that's the least of my concerns, madly typing this while looking my bowl of goo! I have made better Indian out of a packet from Harris Teeter by marinating chicken in a tandoori paste and throwing at the BBQ. Best for all in Chapel Hill if this place is closed! Had to update my review next morning, the awful orange schlock stained the quartz counter top. Perhaps it may be useful after all as an orange surface primer!
