Food and service are both five out of five, but the atmosphere could use a little work, though perhaps that’s just because we were there on the early end.

Our server was great and had strong recommendations, and the food was delicious. We had been before, but had to leave due to an emergency, which we did put in the comments and I would have expected them to address it, but they did not.

Either way, the food was great and you’re probably over ordered as portions are solid.

Expensive restaurant for special occasions. Service was impeccable. Food was good and well prepared. First course pork belly was my favorite. Rabbit was ok and tenderloin was excellent. No pics, forgot. Wine list is extensive but pricy.

We went in the middle of the week, celebrating a 50th birthday party. We were a small group. We had the delight of having Mitch as our server, he was incredibly patient with those with allergies and anxiety. Thank you for that Mitch. It was a moment that everyone at the table was grateful for. We later went back in the week to get the Brilliant Cheeseburgers to go. 100 stars.

Not from the area but here about 1x a month and seek this place out every time I’m in town, sometimes twice in a week.

If you want to know the story behind the restaurant and Michelin starred chef, request to be in Jolly’s section. He gives an exquisite run down of the menu and will share some stories about the owner that will quickly earn your respect and keep you coming back.

Now let’s get to the food — I don’t think this place misses, but I do have some favorites. The little gem salad is a staple. The soup - changes but is always fire. As well as the white fish with coconut curry sauce.

If you aren’t sure what to get, ask for recommendations from the staff. You won’t be disappointed.

Thanks guys!

We were happy patrons of this restaurant until recently. Our last experience involved very slow service and flippant attitudes. The food was just ok. Took a while to place our order, and our waiter was very lascadaisical. We loved the old fried olives and pickles app., which was one of the only reasons we selected Hawthorne instead of Metro 8 (whose service we find to be exceptional to this day), but were informed the app was removed from the menu just because, despite being popular with diners (the waiter informed us, "yeah people come in asking for it all the time.") We dined for a birthday. We hoped to try one of the dessert trios after dinner, but, alas, that was removed from the menu also. (The trios were awesome. You received a nice sized sampling of 3 desserts. Just enough after a filling meal.) As neither of the desserts available appealed to us, we figured we'd make due with the bday dessert that used to be provided in the past-a slice of cake I believe it was. This time, the waiter (who forgot we were celebrating a birthday and who didn't offer to until after we requested it) brought out a comical gelatin like, candy sized piece of sweet that tasted horrible (see picture). Seemed like a cheap gesture for an upscale restaurant. (We wound up enjoying a delicious dessert at Metro 8 across the street.) The atmosphere at Hawthorne feels very different now. For a fine dining establishment, and for the amount paid for our experience, we were very disappointed in the service received. Finally, had we known about the incident involving the patron and the disrespectful manager from a couple years ago, we would have never returned here. We firmly believe that the staff of any business is a direct reflection of ownership. Anyone with the gall to speak to a paying guest that way must be part of a culture that values money over customer satisfaction and chaos over common sense dispute resolution, or else they would have know better, in our opinion, than to behave that way. We will not be returning.

I had thought I would know what to expect from a restaurant where the owner has a Michelin star, but this place blows my mind. Such amazing food and service, that I don't even know where to begin. I had the Melon Salad, Gnocchi and Banana Foster. Wish I lived closer (and had the budget) to eat here all the time. BRAVO.
