We visited La Residence to see if we would like it as a place for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Thank God we visited for a meal before we booked for a rehearsal dinner. The warm brie appetizer came with a huge serving of very sour and bitter dates on top, which ruined the dish for all of us. My shrimp and grits tasted like the shrimp was overcooked in the microwave. The scallops tasted like they must have been frozen. The salt levels were all over the place as well. I wanted to like it because the atmosphere was quite nice but the food was simply a disappointment

I was really disappointed with this meal. The melted brie wasn’t melted at all—it was hard—and the toasts were so stale they were inedible.

For the mains, we had the Steak Frites and Scallops. The steak came with potatoes that were clearly refrigerated and reheated, making them unpleasant to eat. The meat itself was decent but completely overpowered by garlic.

The Scallops ($42 for five small ones) were underwhelming—slimy instead of nicely seared—and were served on the same stale toasts. The sauce was overly salty, masking any real flavor.

Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I won’t be back.

Great service! The food was good but not exceptional. The eggs Benedict were not cooked correctly and their beignets were more like croissants but yummy nonetheless. The women’s restroom was absolutely disgusting!!!! There are no words strong enough to express just how disgusting the restroom was!!!!!This was 9:00 am on a Sunday. They should honestly be ashamed of themselves!

Not particularly professional to refuse dining at 130pm on a Sunday just because you were slow. People rely heavily on your hours listed on YOUR website and Google. It states 10am-9pm, not, we take a look at you upon arrival and decide to close because we don't value your business.

We've also been refused a reservation to accommodate a 10 top over a month out, poor responsiveness from a manager that is purportedly related to the owners.

Sad professional degradation of a Chapel Hill fixture that used to be a respected place of elegance.

This place is as close to perfect as you're like to get 'round these parts. The food was amazing, the service was top notch, and everything was haute but without the hautier than thou attitude. If you've never been, now's the time.

We came for Easter brunch with family after church. Delicious and excellent prices for such a nice brunch atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Kid-friendliness: Very helpful with our 2 toddlers. Quickly provided high chairs, plastic cups for drinks, and were generally friendly to our kids.

I really enjoyed my dinner here last night! This restaurant is located in what used to be an old home and it is cozy and quaint. My waiter was very nice and attentive and my meal was delicious. I tried the scallops and they were some of the best I’ve had along with a delicious salad with candied walnuts and feta cheese. I topped it off with a perfect cappuccino.

Brunch menu items that were worth the money: beignets (YUM), croque madameBrunch menu items that were disappointing: chicken and waffle (worse quality than a Waffle House with syrup in a plastic cup), mimosas (overpriced, underwhelming)Service was good and it’s a pretty restaurant. The actual brunch menu was all crumpled. If you get there around 1-1:10 the kitchen may be closed already, so make sure to go earlier.

Love La Res late nights. I finally made it during daylight hours and can attest that the food is just as good.

Dianne saved my life today. I was choking on my eggs Benedict and she performed the Heimlich maneuver and expertly cleared my airway and let me once again breathe the breath of life. I owe her my life, and anyone who has her should tip her at least 30%, as she is a hero. Thank you
