Great food, great service, amazing margaritas!
Such a nice little place! Beef tacos were very tasty as well as tamales, guacamole was good too and the consistency was just right. Large variety of Margaritas! The staff is very friendly!
I don’t generally like writing reviews, but I had such a negative experience here that I feel like I have to write one! My partner and I were struggling to find a place to eat and stumbled across here. The patio was full of customers so we assumed it must be good. When we started reading the menu we were a bit shocked at the prices. It was almost $6 to add chicken to an already $10 salad, and a taco plate (for only one taco!!!) was $10. We ended up both getting a quesadilla and when I tell you we were shocked at what was served to us… I genuinely think a child could make a more sophisticated quesadilla. They were both missing ingredients listed on the menu, they weren’t very warm, cheese was half melted, and it felt like it had maybe just been microwaved and handed to us. I couldn’t finish my food it tasted so bad and both of us felt a bit sick not even an hour after. I truly can’t believe they felt it was okay to serve a paying customer what they did, especially at the price point. We will not be returning and cannot fathom why people continue to eat here and leave such good reviews.
My family and I got takeout from Margaret's Cantina last night and everything was delicious! Fast service, the guac was excellent, and the beef burritos were very flavorful. Generous portion of chips and salsa too. Adding this restaurant to our rotation!
Small independently owned Mexican restaurant with a small but varied menu. Indoor dining was not available, so we sat at tables on the sidewalk under cover. Each meal was well-prepared and tasty. Look forward to a return visit.
Yes, Margaret's Cantina, in North Chapel Hill/Timberlyne. My folks introduced me to MC years ago. We had wonderful family gatherings there. In 2012, I moved to Chapel Hill and became a "regular" at Margaret's. The long time staff is welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxing and you can't beat the margaritas and any of the quesadilla choices! So come, bring your dog and enjoy the outdoor patio (with heaters, and plenty of social distancing). Liz
I went to Margaret's tonight and had a very enjoyable evening. They only serve on the patio, but they have radiant heaters to keep customers toasty. I had chicken tamales with salsa verde. Mucho sabor!
service is prompt even when they are busy. i've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. the bill was appropriate for the quality. they have so many reviews for a reason.
Food is house made and delicious. oqner is active in community. They are super friendly and a great neighbor
The service is quick, the price is reasonable, the food is terrific and the staff are friendly. I love all the quesadillas and the chocolate ice cream. My wife likes the margaritas and chicken soup and fajitas of all kinds. Great for families and friends

Very cute atmosphere, friendly staff, good lunch special (shrimp tacos & 2.75 beer). The rice had good flavor, the shrimp and black beans were lacking flavor. Generous portion. Nothing a little Cholula couldn't help.
Staff was friendly, service and food were good! Recommended!
Absolutely fantastic. The enchilada plate with tempeh has been a favorite of mine since 1998.
Ordered black bean chili, but all I could taste was garlic. If you are not a big fan of garlic, don’t go here. Horrible
I grew up going to Margarets Cantina and over the past 25+ years it remains a favorite for me. I still see the same lovely staff and the food continues to wow! It's probably my top place in the Chapel Hill area. Growing up vegetarian, Margaret's was that haven that our whole family could enjoy. I know others in the community feel the same and continue to frequent Margaret's after many, many years! I personally recommend the tamales (chicken because i'm no longer veg) and the
