Affordable and tasty chinese food! Their sauce is fantastic. The mala beef tripe is really good.

What a great little place to pop in for good and fresh food!!! It's very small and cute but comfortable. The food is always hot and so good! Decent portions as well. The work staff is a bit scarce but efficient. The manager and his staff are sooo nice and accommodating. This has become our favorite new spot!!!

Chicken lo mein and chicken fried rice were what we tried.

This is the worst chinese food I've ever had. The fried potstickers were tasteless, undercooked, and gummy. The sesame chicken was terrible and tasted like it was doused in ketchup. I will never eat her again.

Has one waitress doing all the work. The owner sits in corner talking with his friends. That one waitress was doing a great job but cannot do it all by herself. Had to walk to the kitchen to get a refill of water. Owner is playing on his phone, sorry I had a emergency he told me. If the owner or manager don't care that's bad business.

We eat there maybe once a month, it's fine; never crowded, mundane scene. But we do go back. But let's talk carry-out. Now I am generally adverse to carry out. I feel that all food loses my interest after a half-hour or so. But this latest visit to Red Lotus was a treat. Home is about a 25 minute drive away. We ordered before we left home. Everything was ready and well packaged when we got there. We had veg fried rice, sesame chicken, garden roles, hot-and-sour soup. This was the best prepared, and presented carry-out that I have ever eaten. All the food was delicious, large (large) portions, freshness and fine appearance were all that we wanted.

We were wondering why there were only two tables of diners when we got to the restaurant on Sunday evening during the “busy” Labor Day weekend, we quickly found the answers after we ordered and the waitress brought our dish. The dishes were tasteless, “shrimp with peas” were all peas but shrimp, “beef with Cumin” is another disappoint full of hard-to-chew celery completely masking the cumin flavor. Or even the fried rice cake had a very plain taste. I know I will not go back to that restaurant ever again!

The best Chinese food in the triangle, especially for vegetarians (they have a great mock chicken they can substitute in most dishes). A true Chapel Hill institution since the days it was Charlies with consistent wonderful food and don't miss out on the Chinese specials menu page for less common authentic Chinese dishes. I hope they stay in business for another 30 years!

Our most favorite Chinese food stop in the chapel hill. Food is always fresh and very authentic. We usually get monk fish and hubby’s favorite is Pekin crispy duck. I wish they had a bigger choice of desserts and teas. Service is always a top and server is always super friendly and quick.

We ate there after a doctor appointment. I really wanted Chinese food. What a fantastic surprise to find this wonderful little res!the food was freshly prepared to order, hot and delicious! Service was excellent. According to the owner it been there for 17 years! If you haven’t been you need to go! We live about 30 miles away but when we go back to The doctor in Chapel Hillwe will definitely visit again!

Went to red Lotus to pick up Chinese food from my mom. I spent a fair amount of money on four dishes, all of which, with the were mediocre- In particular, the beef eggroll was completely disappointing as it was overdone and tasteless. The cashew chicken had five cashews, and chicken was over cooked. The soup was full of salt. I do think that they need to step up their game in order for people to give better reviews.

This was a first visit for us. We liked our two main courses. The General Tso’s Chicken was very good and spicy, as we had requested. The Moo Shoo Beef was also very good, with large pieces of beef, which was a plus for my husband, but not for me. The scallion pancake was a ripoff, given that it cost half the price of the main courses and consisted mainly of wheat flour. It was also quite doughy. The canned Copperline beer was insufficiently chilled. The service was mediocre. Two young non-Chinese ladies comprised the waitstaff. Our shared appetizer was set down in the middle of the table, clearly acknowledging that we were sharing it, but we were not given any dishes. Similarly, the main dishes arrived without serving spoons. We did get plates and serving spoons when we asked. The booths are comfortable. But the interior could have easily been made more attractive. The space seems a bit too generic, the restaurant’s woodwork is dirty, and the paint job sloppy.

The best Chinese food in town! I seriously love this place. Their general tso's tofu is to die for.

Vegetarian options: They will substitute any meat for tofu.
