Very good sushi, good atmosphere, great lunch deals, don't go there in a rush - food takes a minute to arrive.Recommend : Fire Ball roll, Hawaiian roll, Carolina way, and the Tom Yum Soup, and sashimi.Also good : shrimp wasabi roll, ultimate salmon roll, and fresh off roll - a little difficult to taste the difference between them.Csn skip: fried gyoza.

Just above average. The appetizers left much to be desired. The calamari was rubbery and tough. The breading was too thick and lacked flavor. The sexy shrimp were better, but the wontons were slightly burnt. Thankfully the sushi and entrees were better. The bulgogi beef was very tasty. Well cooked, not too chewy, and the sauce was good. The kimchi that comes with it was good also. All of the sushi was also good quality. Service was slow. I'd go back for entrees, just skip the apps.

What a great place to come to if you visit the hill. Great value, nice ambiance and a very nice staff. The sushi plates were fantastic with a variety for all. Highly recommend.

So I decided to order some takeout from this place. I first became aware of it through a friend who does local food deliveries and recommended Spicy 9. Being new to the area and a lover of all things sushi, I said bring it on! I ordered the Thai Coconut soup with chicken, a Spicy 9 appetizer sampler (had 2 tempura shrimp, 2 spring rolls, 2 steamed dumplings, 2 deep fried dumplings, and 2 crab wontons ((my fav!)), and a sushi roll called the Karolina Roll. The order came quickly and the delivery driver did a great job, very polite. The food that was to be hot was still as such, and the roll looked divine. I dove into the soup first. The flavor of coconut, lime, and mushroom were ever present. The chicken cooked perfectly, not chewy at all. The appetizer sampler didn't disappoint either. Can I just say, I love a good appetizer sampler? So good on ya to the folks at Spicy 9 for having that! And finally we come to the Karolina roll. My lawd was it tasty, oh did I mention I added Spicy tuna to it? Absolutely delicious! While I haven't dined in Spicy 9's location yet, I will in due course, of that I can assure you all. Great job to the folks at Spicy 9, will definitely be enjoying your delicious food again soon!
I have been working in downtown chapel hill since 2016. Since that time, this great place has been our office's go-to place whenever we are having an office lunch. So many great memories in this restaurant. Their lunch box is my favorite!!! Everything else is great too!!!
