One of the best restaurants in the area. Great food, ambience and the best service! Have been going there for the past 8 years!
I enjoyed the ambiance and the staff were all great! I was slightly disappointed with the size of the entrees. Thankfully we had ordered plenty of appetizers, but if we had not I would have left hungry for sure. The main meats were good, but was not impressed with their sides of rice and the pickled cabbage stuff. Over all was good but the apps were the best part.
The best dining experience I've had in Chapel Hill. Great value in these inflated times. Delicious food and good service.
We just happened to pick the night that Mexico and Turkey were playing a big soccer match in Chapel Hill so the restaurant was packed with fans in team colors and was very noisy, a big change from our usual experience at this restaurant. Tallula's is our “go to” eatery for every occasion or just a great meal. As usual the food and service were superb in spite of the crowd. Can't wait to go back again soon! Definitely a restaurant that everyone should try at least once!!!
One of my all time favorite dishes for any restaurant is Talullas's lamb shank with eggplant purée. Start it with the Coban salatasi and bread. The rice pudding is a great finish.
Talulla's is always delicious and the service is always gracious but they have too many tables in the space and expect you to sit incredibly close to other people. Two times that we have been seated at the high tops, the table next to us had two people sitting on the banquet where only one person is supposed to sit. It makes for a crowded and uncomfortable dining experience and makes me pause when I think of coming here.
We haven't been here in quite a while, but it is still as delicious as we remembered it. Nice relaxing atmosphere here with good service and delicious food. Highly recommend the Turkish coffee and Kuneffe dessert.
Our party was 4 novices to Turkish cuisine. The explanations were well intended but overwhelmed by the speed of delivery and the overall noise level. My comments are only about the apps and my entree. Appetizers and the lamb shank special were all nicely presented. The sampler apps were quite nice and everyone was able to sample everything. There was a sauce that was delivered that we weren't quite sure what it was. It was very tasty. The lamb shank entree was delicious and I would order it again. Tender and meaty.
The menu has changed over time and doesn't seem as unique as it was a few years ago. Also, there is NO valet parking as the website claims. This was a confusing beginning to our visit.
Wonderful experience. Great mains, especially the specials. Ask about them. Also wonderful hot mezes, accompanied by the greatest service.
Restaurantji Recommends
The food was delicious and the service was good. The restaurant is clean and cozy but it's also a little crowded and very noisy.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Great wait staff and service. Would highly recommend. The slow roasted lamb was very tender and perfect!
Our party of 3 had reservations and were quickly seated. Service was fast and friendly, gave excellent advice and made us feel at home and appreciated. Had the cold appetizer sampler that was amazing. The mousakka was great. I also tried my daughter's lamb dish- also fantastic. Highly recommended ! Also suggest reservations as rhe place was packed with a lot of people who also looked happy. ! Oh. And rhe cocktails were perfect ! We plan on going back.
A thoroughly pleasing evening in every way: food, service, and ambiance. The restaurant was full and there was lots of happy conversation. Thanks to the beautiful textiles on the walls, the acoustics were great and my older dining partners had no trouble hearing each other.
As a first generation immigrant from Istanbul, I don’t usually enjoy Turkish or Mediterranean restaurants in the U.S. as they are nothing like the originals but I finally found one where the food reminds me of home! Amazing food, amazing hospitality. my picky daughter enjoys the healthy food. if you go early enough, there is no wait.
