Tandoor Chapel Hill Indian Restaurant

I'm not sure if it was my order or what but I could not eat it. I ordered chicken tikka masala but the texture was unlike anything I had had before. I've been on a mission to try all the tikka in the Triangle and this was the first time I truly left disappointed. The sauce was this weird texture that hit the tongue all wrong and while I got mild, I don't know if there were any spices all all. I was under the assumption mild meant a little spice. It was just a weird sauce on top of a few pieces of chicken.

The garlic naan didn't improve my meal unfortunately.

I do plan on trying again, a different meal and different time of day, but my first impression has left me hungry amd $30 poorer.

OG indian food spot in the Hill MUST GO. Local Family owned an operated. they always take care of you been going here since i was a kid. Amazing food, great service, FAST very fast, oh also a really cool atmosphere 1000/10

The food is amazing no matter what you get you’ll know that you’re always getting great fresh food and it’s always what you ordered. The menu is well written and the prices are very reasonable and competitive. If you go for lunch the buffet is kept full and the food is kept sanitary and hot. The service is great they’re always thinking about you when you’re eating there. The atmosphere is really good the elements of the room and the tapestry make you really embrace the food and enjoy it.

Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options with a guide for vegan or vegetarian. There’s also plenty of options for food without meat.

Dietary restrictions: If you have any Dietary restrictions the staff are very helpful.

Parking: There is a plethora of parking in a lot and there is also parking next store and across the street. The parking is never full or hard to find.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly with meals for kids

Wheelchair accessibility: It lacks wheelchair accessibility as you need to go down stairs to enter however you probably could have the wheelchair carried down as there is plenty of room.

Fantastic food and service. We have been going here for years now and their dishes have consistently been full of flavor with good portion sizes. Their butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are particularly outstanding and my go-to for most trips here. Always a great experience with the owners and staff, who are kind and friendly. Highly recommend!

Food was horrible and dis-gusting. Service was beyond poor. People were rude and pitiful. I will never go to this place again. I don't recommend anybody to go there. Save yourself the misery by picking a different Indian restaurant.

Absolute favorite takeout place in Chapel Hill! Been going here for years, and it is excellent every time. Great food, great portions, for a great price. Don't be deceived by their "hole-in-the-wall" location- Tandoor is one of the best options for Indian food around.

As always this is the best Indian food in the Chapel Hill area.
Anyone complaining about the cleanliness or ambiance needs to go to CholaNad or Zayka for your "pay for ambiance" mediocre quality experience. Or finding a "nerve" in their chicken (ridiculous) I don't think I've ever had to take a nerve out of my chicken at home or in the multitude of restaurants I worked in in my early years.
I grew up in Chapel Hill and we started coming here as a family in the 80's when it opened, and I bring my family here still as it is our favorite. Owners still remember us, occasionally one of the older ones is in there and it such a wonderful experience to see them.

i've been ordering tandoor for takeout for about 3+ years now and typically alternate between ordering paneer saag and chicken tikka masala. recently, i've been sticking to the paneer since i had encountered some bad pieces of chicken in the tikka. tonight i had a craving and ordered the chicken tikka and it was borderline inedible. the chicken was entirely dark meat, stringy, and dry. i ended up eating around all the meat and only eating the rice. just a very disappointing order from a restaurant i know is typically good! not worth the price.
