Amazing food and service!! My husband from Honduras said the pollo con tajadas (fried chicken with green plantains) was authentic. I loved the pupasas! We will be back very soon!

We were in town for the UNC game. Our family recommended a spot and texted the owner because we were gonna be there just before it closed. We showed up and got the Arepas, taquitos, and the Catracha bowl. Everything was amazing and I especially love the Arepas. Flavor was excellent and the salsas they provided were extremely good! Told the owner that I would make a special visit to come here every time I’m in Chapel Hill.

Offers a variety of Central and South American food, unlike anything else on Franklin St.

I’m so happy to have found a place with Central American food in the area. They have pupusas and Honduran baleadas! It’s been just a week since their opening and I’ve been two times already. The restaurant atmosphere is also very nice and chill. I’ll definitely be going there frequently.
The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Pair that with refreshing drinks and food that delivers big on flavor, and you’ve got a spot that’s absolutely worth checking out.
If you’re in Chapel Hill and craving bold, delicious bites, Latin Effects is the place to be!
We kicked things off with the chicken taquitos, perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside. The carne asada fries were next level loaded, cheesy, and downright addictive 🤩. And don’t even get me started on the fried pork bites… golden, juicy, and so satisfying

I was visiting North Carolina from Miami when I stumbled upon this hidden gem—and I’m so glad I did! Great food, great ambiance, and friendly staff. Everything was on point. Authentic Latin food at it's best. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

This was our first time at the new restaurant. We walked right in without a reservation, but that may be because this location just opened last Friday. The food and service were exceptional! The new owner recommended our dishes since we didn't know the menu, and his choices were superb. Also, I had initially ordered a mararita, but he wasn't sure they had the mix at the bar, so I ordered a beer instead. Later, he brought me a margarita free of charge. He also gave us free sweet plantains as it was our first time in. All in all, we had a wonderful time enjoying the delicious food, and chatting with the owner. We will spread the word to our friends as The Latin Effect is another great addition to the Chapel Hill/Carrboro restaurant scene!

My first time at The Latin Effect: I tried the baleadas and Qué RICO was I completely blown away with the complex flavors of the cheese and meat with the handmade freshness of the soft, warm tortilla paired beautifully with avocado. The special salsas added another dimension and the refried beans were such great quality, not too salty and with the egg it really complemented it perfectly como un beso. Overall, 10/10 on my first experience but what really drew me to this local Latin American cuisine restaurant was the amazing service we had from the owner. He treated us so well and truly welcomed us for an unforgettable meal. He kindly and enthusiastically answered all our questions and was both patient and efficient. The way he truly wanted us to enjoy the heart of good food with an infectious smile could not be matched by anything else. I am not easily blown away very easily being in the food service industry myself, and was hesitant in picking out a new place but if you too are any so willing to give it a try - PLEASE do. They just had their grand opening and the place seriously has such a new and vibrant atmosphere. It was also very reasonably priced - even just to add chicken and avocado was a minimal extra. If you go, it will not disappoint on any factor of your dining experience because in my visit, everything was so positive.
Ordered food for pickup and Alberto was so kind and welcoming! The veggie baleada was so filling and delicious, and the horchata was also heavenly. My new go-to spot whenever I want a taste of home :)
