Amazing food, service and cool location.

We went to Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe in Chapel hill today. I've been coming here for over 20 years. They struggle in the summer with no students so please order some takeout or dine in. While we waiting they chatted with my daughter, gave her a mango lassi and then when we were leaving, Vimala came up with some desserts too. These people love their community and people so much and I'm happy to support their mission! Also everything pictured is gluten free which can be hard to find in the area (I'm a super sensitive celiac) and yes my family has a love for cheese. Our favorites: Tandoori chicken Uttapam (cheese and onion pictured) Dosa (masala-has potato filling) or kids cheese dosa Comes with rice, dal and sambar This is my comfort food!

This is out third or fourth time in Vimala's but we were very disappointed at Vimala's .We had the veg thali and the Pawn curry thali .
The Veg thali had some squash in a broth with half cooked daal with no flavor .It seems the chef just boiled the daal and squash in added some garam masala .
Same with the prawn curry .No flavor no spices ..Same base curry .Not worth ordering the thali .
Do not recommend any thali as it seem to be missing any flavor

Awesome place. Ambience is top notch. Service is good. Food is good too but a little on the sweeter side. I wish I had known a little more about banana fritters which are very sweet. Overall good place for a lunch or early dinner.

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available.

Parking: Parking is on Franklin street or nearby places.

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly for sure.

Disappointing food overall. Ordered the tandoori chicken…one of the blandest I’ve ever eaten in an Indian restaurant. Gave feedback to the proprietor and he said they didn’t have a tandoor..well then how can you call a dish tandoori chicken without a tandoor! Same thing with the Tandoori naan…it was just horrible. That’s just plain lying. On top of that…very defensive attitude “oh all the Indians are ecstatic about the food…I’m so surprised you didn’t like it!” Dude, take the feedback from a customer with some humility and stop lying on your menu!

In all fairness; I've had very little experience with preparation or consumption of east
Indian quizine.

Went all the way from Holly Springs to this place for authentic Indian food specially from Kerala . We were more than satisfied with the food, ambience and
service. Were able to interact with the owner Vimla ji. Would not hesitate to recommend the place to friends, and love to revisit .

Vimala's gives me and fellow patrons life. I've been indulging in Vimala's food and beverage fare amid the past two days given my intuitive yearning for healing sustenance. This is my new "go to" for "gluten-free" Indian cuisine because I trust her locally sourced animal products and other ingredients.

Vimala is a super sweet lady and her Indian food is incred! Saffron rice + misc curries = so yum!! :) pictures from our caterer picnic below. Salad was fresh and there was a ton of variety. She made a pudding dessert for bonus and it was quite good! Can feel motherly love vibes within every bite

Loved this place. Tried the Crispy Okra, Goat Biryani, Green Bean Subji, Chicken Curry Dosa, and Curryblossom Herb Tea Pot. Some highlights included the Tamarind/Date chutney that comes with the Crispy Okra and the overall richness of the Goat Biryani. The portions are large and we took a fair bit home for leftovers which were excellent reprise. There is a bit of mystery to finding this place, at least if you approach on Roberson from the South. For us, this was an adventure. Will definitely return.

Was amazing, especially to our 13yo. He loved it so much, his first words were “Indian food” when he woke up the next morning!

Simply the best. From the start, Vimala has made community through food. I'm proud to support and I always leave satisfied.
