Zan (not sure if that’s how you spell his name) was the sweetest. He really made my friends birthday special and was super kind. Couldn’t have had a better experience. He ate down frfr give this man a raise. <33
Bartenders super nice, open mic funny, dogs, zogs
My #1 grad school bar, and I still stop by whenever I'm in town. Now with great food as well!
Giving this 5 stars for two reasons: value-for-money drinks and the arcade games. They have a “surprise me cider / beer” where for 3.5$ you get a beer or a cider. Make note that the sliders are quite sugary/sweet if that’s not your preference. Even the cocktails are well priced.
It’s a dive bar vibe. Bring some quarters and play some games (or ask the cash up front, he’ll give you some)
The shooting game is $0.75 per person, the ball one is $0.25 for each round
Love the vibe, the people, the comedy open mic on Tuesdays.
Such a fun place. Nola themed with two pool tables and other arcade games. Drinks are average, but bartenders were friendly.
Played good music - Mac Miller/Childish Gambino vibe
Dingy in a fun way, definitely feels like a hole in the wall place. Drinks were good, bartender was cool.
Upstairs is a chill vibe with a couple pool tables and good drink prices
I was recently at Zogs. Collin was one of my favorite bartenders I’ve had. Wish I could see him on Thursdays too. - Big Mike

Great atmosphere, Colin really made our night. He was friendly and chatty and he made the best white Russian I've ever had :)
We came here as a grad school cohort for a night out and the bartender gave us extraordinary attitude for no reason. Every time somebody walked up to order something, he would reliably snub them. He would circle around us, continuously asking for our IDs, even though he had previously checked and nobody in our class is under 21. He also refused to let us pay in cash and insisted that we all had to open tabs, even though there’s literally a construction paper sign that says “cash is king”. The kicker was, one of my friends saw that he was busy with another customer, and reached for a straw in a dispenser ON TOP OF THE BAR and he proceeded to swoop over and SLAP HER HAND so hard the sound reverberated across the interior of the establishment. It’s worth noting all of these offenses were completely unprovoked, we did our best to be extremely kind, the only time we even interacted with him was to close out or order drinks. Spend your money elsewhere!
The owner Mandey was (still is) amazing and provided top notch service to me and my department when we organized social events at her bar. She was incredibly responsive, helped us think through logistics, came up with fun themed cocktail menus (a Don Quixote cocktail??) and was fun to work with. Would definitely recommend hosting an event with her.More generally, Zog’s was one of my favorite bars during graduate school - I love the chill vibe, mature crowd, and pool tables (seriously, where else in Chapel Hill can you play pool??). AND IT’S DOG FRIENDLY! Go have a beer, shoot some pool, and pet some dogs. Sounds like a stellar night to me!
Bar tenders incredibly rude, way better places to play pool and to be treated in chapel hill
Best bartenders in chapel Hill. Pool tables are a bit scuffed but still a great time. Rougarou just downstairs is also an awesome spot with tasty Cajun food and live music most days
