We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! Everyone in our group was super pleased with the quality of food. Overall, great experience, so we’re definitely coming back.

The place was a whole vibe, clean, large upscale, however, the food did disappoint I can say the water was good, my kids food looked good. One had chicken tenders and fries. The other had a lamb burger and fries however, I had the southern salad with protein added to it which was chicken and the chicken was super tough and very chewy and that salad was disgusting. It was a huge waste of our money no thank you I would not return, but if I stated before, the water was good. I just sat there and waited for them to get done eating so we can leave.

My husband had the fried chicken with some type of dipping sauce and he said it was OK. I just expected better food quality.

I like the fact that they do give you your receipt in the book which I love the art of war

C&U, situated conveniently within walking distance of the Belk Theater, offers an aesthetically pleasing dining environment. The ambiance is carefully curated, providing a backdrop of understated elegance that enhances the overall dining experience.

The Seared Ahi Tuna, a standout dish, exemplifies the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. Served with sticky rice, peas, miso brown butter, and an umami crunch, the dish presents a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The tuna, expertly seared, retains its delicate texture, while the accompanying elements provide a nuanced depth that elevates the dish to a memorable gastronomic experience. The service, primarily, was commendable, with both the host and my waiter, Karma, displaying exceptional attentiveness and charm.

However, the interaction with the manager (or owner) detracted somewhat from the otherwise flawless experience. *I'm finding it hard to recall whether he was an owner or the manager, and his name escapes me now that three months have passed.* A minor billing discrepancy, though promptly resolved, was handled with a level of curtness that seemed disproportionate. *This was my first visit, timed to coincide with my birthday weekend and intended as a light meal following the opera.* While this interaction was a notable blemish, the otherwise exceptional quality of the cuisine and service ensures that C&U remains a recommended dining destination.

For those getting confused during restaurant week - this is not 5 Church.

Our waiter was awesome. Food was awful.

Church and Union Charlotte delivered a great dining experience with a vibrant atmosphere and stylish decor. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

I had the bacon omelette with a side of grits. The omelette was flavorful and cooked just right, but the grits were underwhelming, bland, and lacking the creamy texture I was hoping for. My wife had the chicken sandwich with the glaze on the side, and she really enjoyed it. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and well seasoned.

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the grits. Everything else we had was solid, but that side dish missed the mark.

Overall, it was still a great experience and we would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Had Father's day brunch here, and it was good. The drinks were good, and they offered a complimentary pastry to begin. It was delicious, but after taking a bite, we noticed that there were hairs on the plate under the pastries. We alerted the service, and the manager came and apologized and gave us more pastries. Everything else we ate was okay. Service was good. Nothing really stood out taste wise. The size of the breakfast platter was definitely a conversation starter though.

Meh, just meh. I feel like this is another over hype spot in Charlotte with subpar food. Our waiter was delightful however, service was great.

After the Concert for Carolina’s we needed a nice, yummy brunch. Church and Union delivered. The Cobb salad with chicken, French toast, donuts, and bacon omelette were all Amazing. Our waitress was so on point and nice. Happy parents and happy kids. We’ll be back!!

Food here is terrible. Over portioned to compensate for the terrible taste. Bread always burned and seafood is turned.

Drinks are great, if your hammered I guess none of the above matters.

It's a shame that Church and Union has gotten so comfortable that they forget food quality matters. With an enthusiastic server our expectations were high. Since the menu has several items described in code we had questions. Our server was happy to display his exceedingly deep knowledge of the menu. As well as his opinion. Way too much information. On to the food. We ordered apps, oysters, meatballs and fried green tomatoes. The oysters and meatballs were spot on. The green tomatoes were cooked perfectly, with no flavor!
Team, taste your food! We also ordered the short ribs, the cowboy ribeye for 2 and the filet and haricot verts. Again, Team taste your food! Oily, no seasoning, and they had an unwashed taste. Good fries and drinks, so there's that.
Oh, and one last zinger, automatic kitchen service fee of 3%. Seriously? I'm more than happy to tip the kitchen, I usually send beers, but only when they deserve it. Overall a disappointing $500 meal.

My friend made reservations at Church and Union to celebrate her birthday, and a group of 10 of us drove about an hour to join her. First impressions: the location is great, and the aesthetics are beautiful. The place definitely has a great vibe. We were seated in a cozy little nook, and our waitress, Chloe, was very attentive, friendly, and took the time to discuss the menu with us.

We ordered both food and drinks at the same time, but the drinks didn’t arrive until after our food, which was a little odd. However, we were all enjoying ourselves and didn’t mind too much. The menu itself felt a bit out of place for the setting—very basic compared to the upscale atmosphere.

I ordered a mushroom omelet, which came with home fries and toast. Unfortunately, the food was lukewarm, and the toast wasn’t toasted. On the upside, my drink, The Ghost (tequila, orange liqueur, lime, cucumber water, and cayenne pepper), was delicious—the highlight of the meal for me.

The group ordered a variety of dishes. Two people had the chicken sandwich, which they said was like a “hyped-up Chick-fil-A sandwich.” One person got avocado toast but received scrambled eggs instead of the sunny-side-up egg she asked for. The birthday girl ordered shrimp and grits, but she was told it would take an extra 20 minutes to prepare as they had run out. She agreed to wait, but even after the rest of us had received and finished our meals, her shrimp and grits still hadn’t arrived. When they finally did, they included mushrooms, which she had requested be left off. The staff quickly corrected it, but by then, everyone else was done eating.

The manager came over to apologize and offered some service recovery for the delay, which was appreciated. To be clear, the service wasn’t bad at all—our waitress was kind and attentive. But overall, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting or our expectations.

In short, Church and Union is a beautiful spot with a great vibe and excellent service, but the food didn’t quite hit the mark for us.

One of my favourite restaurants in uptown by far. The atmosphere is great and welcoming, the service was fast and friendly and the food was beyond. I’d definitely recommend getting the stuffed ravioli.

I had my bridal shower dinner here and they exceeded my expectations. Joey was our serve and he was very accommodating. He attended to our every need with a smile on his face. The manager offered up a complimentary champagne toast due to scheduling conflict. We were still very taken care of. My night was so perfect and so special because of the excellent customer service.

I opted for the Salmon because it was Joey’s suggestion. The salmon dish was by far one of the best Salmon dishes I had. My friends and family had a variety of dishes and no complaints. Definitely try this place out if you are in the Charlotte area! I will be visiting again!

Ahhh! THIS is a nice surprise of a spot. The decor is interesting and nice. I love the flair of the ceiling. The music playing completes the vibe. All of the staff are personable and friendly. The food is a "lil" salty but good. PLEASE get the Braised Bacon and Melon appetizer!!! It is a melody of flavors in your mouth!! It WILL BECOME an instant favorite. The ravioli entree does not look very appetizing, but it is good. The pasta is very fresh. The Forbidden Fresca cocktail is refreshing. Stop at the side of the building to snap a picture at the black and white word wall. This "spot" will become a part of my rotation when in Charlotte.
