Somie is a place to come to if you want to truly experience and enjoy the flavors of Africa, Nigeria, and the African diaspora. The food took me back to Okeigbo Kingdom in Nigeria! Come and enjoy the food and leave with a smile especially after a conversation with the owner herself..SOMIE!

My friends and I came in and sat ourselves at the bar. The guy that took our order was very patient and explained some of the dishes. The last person in my party came in and ordered after us and a lady came and answered all her questions in how the dishes differ and helped her decide on what she was looking for. The food came out Fresh and hot!! It was amazing. Great experience while trying something new !! The drinks are strong!!

I just ordered Okro soup and pounded yam from here and couldn’t even eat more than 2 bites. This soup is so disgusting and tastes old or spoiled. The pounded yam was burnt or old and re warmed. I would not recommend ordering from this restaurant… I’ll stick to Samoha African Cuisine !

Was visiting from Chicago and chose to eat some food from there to break my fast during Ramadan. I really had a taste for African food and was starving after the sun had set. Ordered Efo Riro and pounded yam. The staff was very friendly and nice but when I got back to my hotel, I was thoroughly disappointed in the meal, which is hard to disappoint someone who’s been fasting all day. Couldn’t even finish it. The pounded yam was dry, lumpy and tasted funny almost like it was old… not fresh. The Efo Riro had ZERO spice / heat and the flavor was bland. Food didn’t taste fresh either. Atmosphere was nice and I could tell they were trying to liven the place up but it seemed like this place is more about promoting a party atmosphere with food as an afterthought. Probably better suited for someone who wants to party, drink and have a lil food so they don’t drink on an empty stomach.

Didn't eat. Walked in and expected what we saw in photos, it is a dark doom with very loud music. Only food is eggs, waffles and chicken wings.. unsure what changed between now and 6 months ago, but don't bother visiting if you are looking to try African food.

The fufu was terrible. Wrapped in plastic wrap and tasted horrible. The goat in the sauce was nothing but bones. My party of set around something like a coffee table.

The Fish Plantains and Spinach dish was really good. ZI would get that again. Somie the Server was nice and patience with my husband and I. We did not get rushed but felt welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something different to eat and be treated with kindness.

First & foremost the place is very clean. Once you walk in, the interior design of the place is comforting with a touch of class. The food was immaculate but most importantly well seasoned. I recommend the suya cheesesteak as that was my favorite. Talk about flavorful! It was giving the African version of a Philly cheesesteak. Warm bun, onions, peppers & a great portion of meat. Can’t forget the welcoming staff & Somie herself. I love an owner who’s very in touch with their business. I appreciate the hospitality.

I googled some african restaurants and they were the first one who came up and the closest 1 to my hotel...I put 3 stars cuz the owner of the restaurant is super ...super friendly but they are I MEAN SEVERELY UNDER STAFFED...Had to wait 40 mns for my meal...I had ordered the spinach stew with assorted meats...stew was ok but a bit on the watery side now they need huge improvements cooking their proteins...I mean besides the beef ....I could barely chew the other proteins on the meal and had to give up...didn't quite enjoy it but would certainly patronize again if I m in the area just bcuz of the owner ATTITUDE...she's def 1 of the rare nice nigerian women I ve met so far
