Even if you don't buy anything you should visit Amelie's bakery. The decor is absolutely amazing for a restaurant! It helps you distract from the prices haha not astronomical but definitely inflated.
Food was good and so was the coffee, no complaints. The place is very clean as well, but we were there early in the morning, one of the first few customers.
Since this is a French style bakery Cafe, I expected that food is brought to you - it is not. You pick it up and then clean up after yourself.
Order at the counter, pick up your own food, and then tip for service? Not great.

Going early is a big advantage. Everything is fresh.

The coffee I ordered today isn't just awful, it's undrinkable.

Good rating for atmosphere, but my breakfast bowl wasn't great. The potatoes didn't seem fresh, but the rest was okay. I couldn't detect the vanilla flavor in my latte that I requested. I will give them points because I actually enjoyed their macaroons. Usually, I don't like them in general, but I gave them another try. Very good.

I was a little bummed to find out tiramisu is seasonal but still plenty of treats to choose from. Service was a bit slow, yet worth the wait.

This place has a great ambience that transports one to Paris. It has quite a vibe with several Parisian props. Crème brûlée was great.

Wow, it's hard to believe that this is the same place it was before the ownership turned over
The pastries are sparse and, frankly, really unimpressive compared to the original location and owners vision.

That's bad enough, but let me tell you about the employees

I brought a friend in for his first time to Amelies. He was super excited and told the guy at the counter that it was first time in.
The guy responded, and I quote, "That means *nothing* to me."
When I made small talk about loving the former location, he went on a very angry tirade about how terrible the hours were and said directly to me - as if I had any input in, or control over this at all - that employees deserve outside lives too.
Well, of course they do. But yelling at two people who just want a croissant ain't gonna help anything.

We just left.
I had also just come in after learning that a friend had passed, so being screamed at by a stranger was especially awful.

Ordinary bland pastries and pissed off employees ?
Never again.

I fell in love with Amelie’s years ago. I recall wishing that they would open a location in my hometown of Atlanta, GA they did, but it did not last long.

One night while in Charlotte I made the suggestion that my family and I make a late night run to Amelie’s. It’s been such a long time since I visited that I did not realize they are in a new location. The new to me location still gives me the same energy as when I visited years ago. The quirkiness of the decor really makes this place special.

We arrived fairly late- maybe 30 minutes prior to closing. However, we were still able to order everything we wanted. Additionally, the staff still had great attitudes!

Overall I love everything about Amelie’s, the decor, the staff and most importantly the food and drinks. If you have a chance to check this spot out, I highly recommend. You do so!

Took a trip to Charlotte & this was a spot to try when visiting. Never had macaroons before, so I decided to try some and man it was delicious! They had so many variety of flavors ( PB&J is fav) . I also ordered the Buttermilk sausage sandwich…. THE BEST BISCUIT EVERR!

Mediocre food, crappy coffee, high prices and they’re going to ask you for 18-22% tip on the counter for that ?Deserts are good though, but there are better coffee shops/bakeries for sure.

Fourth time here, fourth time my food is delayed or made wrong. I waited 45 minutes for a salad and a french dip while AT LEAST 20 people got their orders after me (There were only 2 people in line when I got there, so it wasn’t because they were busy. First they forgot my order, then they did not bring it to the table when they said they would after giving me a number, then when I finally realized my food had been sitting at the counter for a while and my food was cold, I saw they gave me the wrong food.) Really frustrating when you are limited on time. The pastries here are delicious, but the service is lacking. The girl who first took my order was visibly upset and had just cursed at a coworker as I walked up to the register.
