So this food truck came to Novant main in Charlotte this afternoon. I was super excited because I saw the email to the staff of the hospital announcing its presence. I was intrigued by the pork belly and the brisket tacos. I also wanted the loaded queso.

The first thing that was frustrating was that even with a relatively small line, it took 10 minutes to place my order, and another 15 to receive it, so my lunch break was basically over. I know they make things from scratch and everything isn’t cooked till ordered but it, but it was just too long for hospital staff. I blame our hospital for not thinking about that, and I don’t blame directly the vendor, it was just unfortunate. Had I been out just hanging out, it wouldn’t have mattered.

Moving forward I would hope that our hospital would pick faster vendors, or this vendor could speed up its process somehow. I digress.

The tacos were expensive. I saw the prices from the online menu, ranging between $6-8 per taco, I wondered how big they were. I decided to get the items I mentioned earlier. With tax it was $25 and I added a $5 tip. So $30 for lunch for one person. I was expecting it, and still it felt too high. But I know fresh stuff is expensive and this is a local vendor and I was happy to at least support them, hoping for a good culinary experience.

They grind their own corn and make their own masa and tortillas daily. When I got my order and ran straight to the brake room to eat it, the shells were already soggy and sort of crumbly. Like between a hard taco and a soft taco but not in a good way. Maybe I’m ignorant to how a shell should be but this seemed wrong.

The two tacos (brisket, and pork belly) were about the size you’d expect, or slightly smaller than you’d expect for the cost. The meat was tasty, and the ingredients fresh. I just didn’t really care for the corn masa tortilla.

The cheese dip was very good along with the house made chips. It seemed worth the price, cheese is always expensive.

Overall it was ok. I don’t feel like it was worth $30, and I don’t think it was a great choice for people on a 30 min lunch break. Would I try it again? Probably not.

As an Austin native, it was an amazing experience to enjoy food from home. The queso was authentic and the closest you will find to Torchys in Carolinas!!! The corn tortillas were handmade and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be following them around Charlotte to get our fix on this authentic Texas cuisine.

Run, don't walk! Order one of everything. Even if you think "Oh, I don't like..." it doesn't matter, order one anyway. You'll soon discover you love sweet potato tacos, and/or lemon curd with your churros. Your friends and family won't recognize you, that's the extent to which these tacos and churros will change your life. But they ain't just tacos and churros. The attention to detail ensures each bite is absolutely perfectly balanced between flavor and texture. Ferinstance, from the full-size chunk of pork belly (fell apart between my teeth with hardly any encouragement), to the ideal squizzle of salsa cremosa, to the see-through slices of onion, each layer is clearly there for a reason, and that reason is you. These are the freshest thing I've seen since my little nephew learned to curse. I follow them on Street Food Finder, you should follow them on the socials, and hell, if you see them headed down the street follow them to their next location. I can personally guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Best tacos, churros, and service in the CLT, and probably elsewhere. Pics won't do it justice, but when you get to the window justice will be served! Sweet, sweet taco justice...I believe it was Aristotle who said: "At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from Tacos and Churros he is the worst." Listen to Aristotle, and head to Better Call Salsa...

Vegetarian options: As a staunch meat-eater I was happily shocked to discover that I'll be ordering both the mushroom and sweet potato tacos again, and it's amazing how something as simple as a tortilla chip can be done well enough that I'd fill up on guac and queso before my tacos even arrived...

Wow, wow, wow!! We were lucky enough to have the food truck come to our neighborhood and so glad they did. We had the pork, brisket, and chicken taco. All of them had wonderful flavor but our favorite was the pork. Service was so friendly. I asked my husband if he would like to have the tacos again and he said “ Hell yeah!” Hope they come back this way soon!

Best Mexican I've had in Charlotte to date! Amazing tortillas wrapped around wonderfully made fillings resulting in fantastic tacos. Tried the cider braised pork cheek, pork belly (of course!), and wild mushroom. Don't hesitate to chase this truck down...it is mobile magic!

Got the sweet potato taco, chicken pineapple taco (sorry forgot the name), and churros. All were delish but the sweet potato taco was my favorite! Really interesting flavor combo. And the tortilla which I will describe as “ombré” fading from blue on one side to white on the other made for a cool photo

Kid-friendliness: They offered to make my kid a plain cheese quesadilla even though it’s not on the menu <3

I'm satiated and satisfied, the best tacos in Charlotte, period. The flavors, ingredient quality, and preparation of the food is exquisite. The sweet potato, and mushroom tacos are a must. Loved the chips and queso. And the South Churro is immaculate. 10s across the board.

These guys are so awesome! Very authentic Tex-Mex right here in Charlotte, where any kind of decent Mexican food is hard to find. I enjoyed the brisket, chicken, sweet potato tacos and chips and salsa these guys had which was awesome and everything home made! I hope they eventually can get a restaurant open, but I will be having to keep a look out for this food truck!
