Recently visited Botiwalla, on a Wednesday evening. There were some patrons in the restaurant, first thing first, i loved the interior design, it reminds me of old Bombay. The posters and benches, other small stuff which you will get to see on the walls.
We ordered Chai and wada pav which are mumbai classic evening snacks. The wada pav was good, definitely a solid 4/5.
The Chai unfortunately was not at all good, as a every day chai drinker for past 20 years, i know a good chai. So that was 1/5.
Would recommend this place not for chai but other things. Will update the rating on my next visit, when I will try other stuff.
Update : jan 19-2026 Visited for dinner and tried the new entree, Chicken tikka masala.. very disappointed with the taste, quantity. A word of advice for my fellow desi people, if you have tasted authentic North Indian food stay away from this entree, as its definitely not worth trying. And the quantity is very less, almost the size of raita or salan which we get in Indian restaurants.
Can’t recommend this one anymore.

Have been a big fan of their Asheville locations. Was in Charlotte for the day and stopped by. Same great flavors and service. The bowl with the cabbage base was amazing. I wish we had one of these in Durham!

Always recommend this place when visiting Optimist Hall. My personal favorite. Food is amazing and their service makes me feel like they know me personally as a regular although I have only been 6-7 times
