I had high hopes for my visit, especially after the friendly service from the young lady who made the experience pleasant. She really gave me great attention, and I was excited to try the burnt ends. Unfortunately, the meal fell short. The burnt ends were drenched in oil and tasted as though they were cooked in an oven with liquid smoke—nothing like what I expected. The portion was disappointing as well, with mostly fatty pieces and very little meat. I couldn't even eat most of it. After noticing a BBQ sign nearby while in the Popeyes line, I decided to give it a try, but sadly, it was a letdown. In the rainy weather, I ordered online, hoping for a satisfying meal, but what I received was a greasy, inedible mess of fat. I was really disappointed.

I came across this place walking distance from my hotel. Got a pulled pork sandwich which was tasty but slightly dry (easily remedied with a bit more BBQ sauce). While waiting for it, Bubba even gave me a free sample of their yummy banana pudding.

Walked about 1/3 mile to experience this instead of Popeyes. Take out. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mac/cheese and bbq beans. While waiting i noticed they had bbq sauce for sale. I grabbed one since the counter gentlemen said it was really good. The sandwich was ok. The mac/cheese was ok and the beans were just ok. The sauce? Nothing but spicy vinegar. Everything was just ok- I was hoping for at least one or two of them to be amazing- but nothing was. Kinda disappointed- but maybe it was an off day.

Great food. Owner is a very funny guy. Don't forget to check out the signs in the parking lot and the men's bathroom.

Me and my father went here after a 4 hr hike, so we were STARVING. I got the pulled pork sandwich and the pork belly burnt ends while my dad got the brisket. While I appreciate hospitality and humor, the cashier made some jokes at my expense while we were ordering which is all fine being guys and all, but felt a little out of line, especially being first time customers. The atmosphere felt like your traditional small town BBQ restaurants, with their own homemade hot sauces and BBQ sauces neatly placed near the counter for you to try. My pulled pork sandwich was pretty good, though I wouldn't call traditional as it felt more minced than chopped, but had good flavor. The burnt ends were good, but not great with the sauce masking a lot of the imperfections of the smoking of the meat. Mac and cheese and collards were a little bland for my taste even though the cashier came by the table to tell us the Mac and cheese was made with 'real cheese', but shouldn't all Mac and Cheese be? My dad enjoyed his brisket, but I found it to be over done, with no visible smoke ring or juices flowing from it with a gentle squeeze. Not a bad spot to grab a BBQ lunch, but won't be rushing to recommend it to anyone.

So, today's adventure landed us at Bubba barbecue. I've seen this place but never stopped. So today, we stopped. So of course, fatboy here got the pitmaster sampler. Brisket, pulled pork and chicken tenders with Mac and Cheese and French Fries. And got some tea. The place smells amazing.....so......after getting my food.....kinda disappointed. I'm a big bbq guy. Love my brisket. But this place isn't for me. The brisket I think is a texas style with so.e sort of sauce on it. It definitely could have done without the sauce. The pulled pork was minced, not chopped like it should've been. And it seems the two meats were not smoked. I'm guessing an electric cooker orr oven. No smoke flavor at all. Now the chicken tenders we're good. No complaints on that. As for the sides, I've never been to a bbq place where french fries aren't considered a side. This place charges extra for the fries. ?. The Mac and cheese, well microwaved easy mac would have been better. So try it if you want. But I think I'll stick with some real smoked brisket. Thank you for reading.

I’ve been a fan since Bubba’s opened on South Boulevard over 30 years ago! In my opinion, the best Eastern style NC barbecue west of Raleigh (and maybe east of Raleigh too).

It is a checkered table cloth dining room with a men's room you need to visit. It will change your perspective on restaurant bathrooms. The FOOD is worth every moment of your time. Pork belly burnt ends amazing. Everything I have tried is good, if not great, and is always someplace I hit in the first days of Charlotte travel. Bring your phone to the men's room. Thank me later.
