Cafe Monte is a bustling restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. We sat at the bar to get a could appetizers and drinks. The drink selection was pretty good. We only ate the risotto which was well made and flavorful but the best part were the beignets! Those were delicious!!!
We have been to the café many times. Made reservations which were handled appropriately. Sunday brunch is very crowded so expected the noise level. Food was good except for the side of potatoe patty, which none of us ordered, but was on the plates regardless. They were fried and very greasy. Were not edible for any of the three of us. Service was very timely but the poor staff looked exhausted and harried. We have never seen that before and we have been for brunch many times.
As usual, our server was lovely and the food and drinks were delicious. Concerning the drinks, although tasty, my martini had smaller, blue cheese, stuffed olives than I recall from previous visits, and according to the others, the Black Russian needed a stir before serving, the chocolate martini was perfect and the beers were cold and well poured.
We always enjoy a restaurant where the food exceeds expectation. If a restaurant stays open for many years, it not only is a reflection of the quality of the food it is a reflection of the superior management of the facility. I have found the more successful restaurants have ownership/management by a person or people who know the business. Monte Smith, the owner of Cafe Monte is a true lover of good food with a good ambiance and he knows how to run his restaurants. He brings all these thiings to Cafe Monte. There is a reason that every time we go the the restaurant it is insanely busy. The reason?... excellent food, excellent service which yields a wonderful experience. Warning... don't go without a reservation (unless you want to wait an interminable amount of time). 5 stars all the way!! Bon Appetit!!
Unusual circumstances required me to change the time of our reservation on the day we dined at Cafe Monte. The staff was very accommodating and understanding. The food was delicious and we were well served, not too rushed or ignored when we needed something. Highly recommend.
Cafe Monte is one of my favorites for breakfast brunch or lunch. The food is always good with a unique choice of options for all. Service is always friendly and relaxed no matter how busy you never feel rushed. JUST GREAT ACCROSS THE BOARD 5 STARS!!!!
Cafe Monte is a fine restaurant, from the delicious and excellently prepared food to the outstanding service, Cafe Monte is a first class restaurant.
The trout with almonds was superb. Noisy, happening place. None of the servers seemed to be overly concerned with service. Nonetheless, good food and a place we would go back to.
I love eating at Cafe Monte. The food is so very good and they serve it hot. All the waitstaff is very attentive and courteous. We love the swordfish, mussels, beef wellington or beef bourguigon for dinner. Also I love the lobster salad for lunch. The portions are very ample and the price is reasonable. Cafe Monte also has an excellent wine list by the bottle and by the glass. The atmosphere reminds you of a french cafe and they always have french music playing. I love that the restaurant plays music. Also for dinner, the lights are lower which creates such a romantique special atmosphere. I highly recommend reservations whether its for lunch or dinner. The Sunday bruch is very popular and you can't get a seat without a reservation or a long wait time.
We've eaten here many times- it's always lovely. Service is exceptional. Their menu has a great selection and food is always delicious. Very clean and welcoming.

Trout Almandine cooked to perfection. Tried the duck this trip and it was amazing. Cocktails & desserts always 5 star and service by Lisa was memorable as usual.
Early dinner at the bar. Logan was our bartender/server. Very nice and personable. Loved the French music playing which added to the atmosphere. I had the herb roasted salmon which was perfectly cooked, as was the sides of sliced squashes and mashed potatoes. Hubby has a sirloin with a gravy and sides of fries and french green beans which he enjoyed. We didn't stay for dessert but maybe next time ..we will be back!
Cafe Monte consistently delivers high quality meals. We had a delicious Sunday brunch: french country breakfast and florentine omelette. The multigrain bread for toast is so tatsy as is the potato pancake. The hostess, Grace gave us a warm welcome and our waiter, Tony was excellent. It was hard to believe when he said it was his first day. Clerarly, he came with some solid experience.
Great spot. Wife and I go there a few times a year. Good service, some nice music, usually (maybe always?) jazz which I like. Food is very good. Great French onion soup, nice salad options, some great entres -- short rib is excellent. Cozy and authentic French cafe vibes as well. Just an all around great place to go with well above average value compared to the other restaurants in the city too. Be back soon!
Great experience with excellent service. Only issue was they were out of steak and out of potatoes.
